American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2018.912181
Abstract: Banana production dates from the 1920s in Argentina. Rhizomes were introduced and dispersed by immigrants from bordering countries in the Northern provinces. There is scarce information on its genetic diversity to assist in crop breeding programs; hence studies of genetic structure between populations and individuals are fundamental for future use. Molecular markers assess the diversity of the crop. This study employed Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism to investigate the genetic variation in local banana plants from farmer’s fields. Forty-four rhizomes (selected from a total of 860 plants for being stable for production) were used as plant material and 6 primer combinations selected in a previous report were used. Polymorphic fragments present in a given genotype were assigned 1 and those absent were assigned 0. The matrix generated was analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis. A total 540 bands were scored, of which 100% were polymorphic. The number of the pattern duplicated bands was 23 and twenty-one amplicons were exclusive to banana plants collected in the same farmer’s field. Hierarchical clustering and principal coordinates analyses showed differences between genotypes. The cophenetic correlation of the cluster was 0.63 while the 18% of the total molecular variation was explained by the two principal coordinates. These analyses evidence genetic diversity of the crop according to farmer’s field. In agreement to this observation, analysis of molecular variance revealed that 8.9% of the variation was found among farmer populations and 91.1% within farmer populations. In conclusion, introduction of banana into the subtropical zone was associated with a broader genetic variation in order to increase the genetic homeostasis necessary for adapting the crop to the suboptimal environment of Northeastern Argentinean Formosa Province.
Development and characterization of α-tricalcium phosphate/monocalcium aluminate composite bone cement  [PDF]
Loreley Morejón-Alonso, Raúl García Carrodeguas, Luis Alberto dos Santos
Journal of Biomedical Science and Engineering (JBiSE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jbise.2012.58057
Abstract: Calcium phosphate cements have received much attention in recent decades owing to their biocompatibility, in situ handling, and shaping abilities. However, their low initial mechanical strength is still a major limitation. On the other hand, calcium aluminate cements (CACs) set fast and have a high initial strength and good corrosion resistance in contact with body fluids, making them excellent dental restorative materials. Therefore, the chemical, mechanical and biological properties of new-TCP/CA cement after aging in simulated body fluid (SBF) were investigated. The results indicated that the composites have setting times not appropriated for immediate applications and have degradation rates higher than those of the traditional CPCs. Moreover, the compressive strength of composite was lower than 5MPa and did not increase with SBF immersion. However, the α-TCP/CA composites showed a higher bioactivity at early stages and were not only more biocompatible but also more noncytotoxic.

Abstract: In this paper, we show a clustering method supported on evolutionary algorithms with the paradigm of linear genetic programming. “The Straight-Line Programs (slp)”, which uses a data structure which will be useful to represent collections of documents. This data structure can be seen as a linear representation of programs, as well as representations in the form of graphs. It has been used as a theoretical model in Computer Algebra, and our purpose is to reuse it in a completely different context. In this case, we apply it to the field of grouping library collections through evolutionary algorithms. We show its efficiency with experimental data we got from traditional library collections.

Revista Cubana de Obstetricia y Ginecolog?-a , 2001,
Abstract: a case was reported in which the diagnosis was a severe pericardial effusion in a fetus, at 30 weeks of gestation, with increasing bradycardia and risk of cardiac tamponade and intrauterine fetal death. after the genetic counseling service, the patient decided to continue her pregnancy, so it was determined to apply digitalis therapy to the fetus at a dose of 0,50 mg daily and antibiotic therapy to treat a possible myocardiopathy since no other anatomic alterations was observed in the fetal echocardiogram. the progress of this case was followed-up by ultrasonography. positive results were achieved because the pericardial effusion was progressively reduced from 22 to 4mm with good contractibility of myocardium and improved heart rate. the amniotic fluid index dropped from 97,5 percentiles to 50; the fetal biometry was normal. cesarean section was performed at 40 weeks of gestation due to acute fetal distress and a female fetus weighing 3 040 g with apgar 8-9 score was born. her development was satisfactory. the examination of the neonate was normal according to the cardiologist. her development was comprehensively followed up in the puericulture service and it was satisfactory. at present, she is considered to be a healthy girl.

Summa Humanitatis , 2011,

Revista IUS , 2011,
Retardation and summation tests after extinction: The role of familiarity and generalization decrement

Abstract: Actually, in the information society where we are situated, there are many analyses and approaches that emphasize the relationship between the installation of the information and communications technologies with the economic growth of the territories. The technological change and the capacity to educate and to investigate in a country, has conformed basically, in the last times, what is known as intangible capitals or components of the intellectual capital, associated to the productivity and, in addition, with the growth of a country or region through variations in the production function. In this work, it is emphasized in the treatment of this relationship starting from the indicator of regional technological efficiency to determine if this factor bears a better answer before actual scenario of economic deceleration. So, we project and analyze the relationships of this indicator with the regional labour market, fixing the strong impacts taken place in employment destruction in those regions and sectors with lower scores in generator of technological intellectual capital.
