Couto, Luis Flávio;
Psicologia: Reflex?o e Crítica , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-79721999000300004
Abstract: the objective of this essay is to give an overview of paul feyerabend?s review of scientific methodology, and more precisely, the requiriment of the adoption of a more flexible attitude towards the construction and the statement of the veracity of scientific hypotheses. the ruling principle is "anything goes". this essay points to the historical reasons that left, to an extent and taking the due care with such theoretical voluntarism, the adoption of this opening to new presuppositions in science. it is proposed that there are not conditions which limit research indefinitely. there is not a single theory able to capture the object in its entirety in the same way that the investigation process itself is inexhaustible.
Couto, Luis Flávio Silva;
Estudos de Psicologia (Natal) , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-294X2006000200007
Abstract: the aim of this article is to investigate from freud's psychological writings, several moments in which he employs the word enjoyment (genuss) and the verb to enjoy (genieben), in order to understand their significations. in this trajectory, we will establish the enjoyment of civilization, privileges, good things of life and of desire accomplishment; the enjoyment of divine grace blessings, the enjoyment of humoristic pleasure, the diversity of mental occurrences, and sexual enjoyment.
Dora, uma experiência dialética
Couto, Luis Flávio S.;
ágora: Estudos em Teoria Psicanalítica , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14982004000200006
Abstract: based on the work intervention on transference (lacan, 1951/1998), this essay discusses a lacanian approach to dora's treatment as a dialectical experience. although hegel's conceptions have been surpassed, it is still worth reflecting on the treatment approach that he used in his first practice, in the light of several levels of truth scansions.
Bispo, Fábio Santos;Couto, Luis Flávio Silva;
Estudos de Psicologia (Natal) , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-294X2011000200002
Abstract: this article intends to demonstrate a displacement in lacan's conception on the ethics, using a comparison between the perspectives of the seminar, book 7: the ethics of psychoanalysis and of the seminar, book 20: on feminine sexuality, the limits of love and knowledge: encore. while the first perspective privileges the organization of a symbolic law - and this one, if trespassed, culminates in the approach of an impossible jouissance (enjoyment) to das ding - the latter emphasizes the jouissance of the body as something that is not-all organized by the symbolic. therefore, there is a movement from an ethics of breach, which aims at a point beyond the pleasure principle and of the service of goods, to an ethic where the addition of the pleasure principle invades the field since the beginning. the logic of contingency is how lacan intends to formalize a manner of making the symbolic necessity and the impossibility of the desire to register in the records of the contingent and the possible.
Arruda, Flávio Bussmeyer;Barroso, Luis Fernando Simardi;
Bragantia , 1984, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87051984000200036
Abstract: fourteen years of ia-58 sunken pan evaporation data were analysed for predicting irrigation needs. the measurements were carried out in ribeir?o preto, state of s?o paulo. the data were grouped in 12 monthly series which followed the normal distribution with small skewness. all series had significant values for kurtosis, but april, may and june presented strong leptokurtic distributions, i.e., there was a piling up of scores in the center of the distribution. for each month the frequency distribution of mean daily evaporation as well as the comparison between the 75% level of probability of evaporation (recommended by fao) and the 50% level (commonly used), are presented. differences of up to 35%, during the rainy season, can occur between the two criteria and might result in improper design of irrigation system.
Zanazzi, José Luis;Monteiro Gomes, Luiz Flávio Autran;
Pesquisa Operacional , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-74382009000100010
Abstract: this article presents a method for facilitating group decision-making. the method is founded on a process that allows a systematic analysis of the problem. it also allows sharing exchanging knowledge and experiences. individual judgements are represented by utility functions. a stability condition leads to inferring if the analysis has been sufficient or if it must be continued. once stability is reached, the method proposes one mode for aggregating judgements and for ordering the decision alternatives. the analytical framework embedded in the use of the proponed model stimulates the use of independent approaches among the members of the group. the proponed method also facilitates the identification of the participants with the chosen decision.
Pelicioni, Luis Alberto;Resende, Marco Flávio da Cunha;
Revista de Economia Política , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31572009000300005
Abstract: in this paper two hypotheses about the relationship between monetary policy and investment in the context of the inflation target system were tested. one of these hypotheses is based on the idea of neutrality of money, and the other hypothesis is based on the reject of that idea. an investment equation for seventeen economies using a piece-wise dummy variable was estimated by the methodology of panel data. the results highlight that a negative correlation between current expectation of restrictive monetary policy and current investment rose after the inflation target system implementation.

Health (Health) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/health.2013.57A5001
Abstract:

Aim: The interest of inflammatory marker increased in the last years, even in preventing clinical outcome after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Our objective was to study the relationships between C-reactive protein levels and clinical outcome and the development of cerebral vasospasm after aneurismal SAH. Methods: One hundred adult patients with aneurismal SAH were prospectively evaluated. Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score, Hunt and Hess grade, Fisher grade, CT scans, digital subtraction angiography studies, transcranial doppler (TCD) and daily neurological examinations were recorded. Serial serum CRP measurements were obtained on daily between admission and 10th days. Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) and the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) were used to predict outcome. Results: A progressive increase in the CRP levels from the admission to the 3rd postictal day was observed, followed by a slow decrease until the 9th day. Hemodynamic changes in TCD were associated with higher serum CRP levels. Patients with lower GCS scores presented with increased CRP levels. Patients with higher Hunt and Hess grades on admission developed significantly higher CRP serum levels. Patients with higher admission Fisher grades showed increased levels of CRP. A statistically significant inverse correlation was established in our series between CRP serum levels and GOS and mRS scores on discharge and CRP levels. Conclusion: Increased CRP levels were strongly associated with poor clinical outcome. CRP levels can predict cerebral vasospasm and delayed ischemic deficits with higher statistic significance. There are relationships between hemodynamic chances in TCD and higher CRP levels.
