The Challenges of the XXI Century University: What does the Church to the University? Los Desafíos de la Universidad en el Siglo XXI: Qué le dice la Iglesia a la Universidad?

Abstract: A warm greeting for the president, professors and students of the University Foundation estimated Juan de Castellanos. This university has set a big goal very embarrassing: Contributing to the civilization of love. This goal should be a point of reference for addressing the different options that should be performed every day and to meet the challenges it faces delicate. With this in mind, I present some challenges, in my opinion should be considered by the University and must respond in line with its objectives. Here, I will discuss two sets of challenges: the first of a philosophical, which outlines three challenges and the second socio-cultural and includes five challenges. Dynamics of quantum correlations and linear entropy in a multi-qubit-cavity system

Abstract: We present a theoretical study of the relationship between entanglement and entropy in multi-qubit quantum optical systems. Specifically we investigate quantitative relations between the concurrence and linear entropy for a two-qubit mixed system, implemented as two two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode cavity field. The dynamical evolutions of the entanglement and entropy, are controlled via time-dependent cavity-atom couplings. Our theoretical findings lead us to propose an alternative measure of entanglement, which could be used to develop a much needed correlation measure for more general multi-partite quantum systems.
Ultrafast deterministic generation of entanglement in a time-dependent asymmetric two-qubit-cavity system

Abstract: We present an efficient scheme for the controlled generation of pure two-qubit states possessing {\em any} desired degree of entanglement and a {\em prescribed} symmetry in two cavity QED based systems, namely, cold trapped ions and flying atoms. This is achieved via on-resonance ion/atom-cavity couplings which are time-dependent and asymmetric, leading to a trapping vacuum state condition which does not arise for identical couplings. A duality in the role of the coupling ratio yields states with a given concurrence but opposing symmetries. The experimental feasibility of the proposed scheme is also discussed.
A robust one-step catalytic machine for high fidelity anti-cloning and W-state generation in a multi-qubit system

Abstract: We propose a physically realizable machine which can either generate multiparticle W-like states, or implement high fidelity $1 \to M$ ($M=1,2,... \infty$) anti-cloning of an arbitrary qubit state, in a single step. Moreover this universal machine acts as a catalyst in that it is unchanged after either procedure, effectively resetting itself for its next operation. It also possesses an inherent {\em immunity} to decoherence. Most importantly in terms of practical multi-party quantum communication, the machine's robustness in the presence of decoherence actually {\em increases} as the number of qubits $M$ increases.
Crossover between the Dense Electron-Hole Phase and the BCS Excitonic Phase in Quantum Dots

Abstract: Second order perturbation theory and a Lipkin-Nogami scheme combined with an exact Monte Carlo projection after variation are applied to compute the ground-state energy of $6\le N\le 210$ electron-hole pairs confined in a parabolic two-dimensional quantum dot. The energy shows nice scaling properties as N or the confinement strength is varied. A crossover from the high-density electron-hole phase to the BCS excitonic phase is found at a density which is roughly four times the close-packing density of excitons.

Abstract: A produ o de mudas de frutíferas perenes está baseada na multiplica o vegetativa por manter as características da planta de origem. No pessegueiro, as mudas s o obtidas por enxertia de gema ativa. Como n o existem relatos de utiliza o da alporquia na multiplica o do pessegueiro, este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar sua eficiência na propaga o desta frutífera. O experimento foi realizado na Embrapa Clima Temperado, Pelotas-RS, nos meses de junho a setembro de 2001 com as cultivares Chirua e Maciel. A alporquia foi realizada em quatro épocas. As plantas, na época I (06-06), apresentavam-se dormentes. Nas demais épocas, apresentavam flores no estádio de bal o ou abertas (épocas II e III - 26-06 e 16-07), enquanto, na época IV (08-08), possuíam brota es e frutos em desenvolvimento. Foi retirado um anel entre 1,0 e 1,5 centímetro de largura da casca de cada ramo com um canivete de enxertia. Em cada ferimento, foram colocadas quatro gotas do ácido indolbutírico (3000 mg.L-1). Houve 100% de enraizamento. Em todos os ramos das duas cultivares, ocorreu a forma o de raízes vigorosas e em grande número. Nas alporquias realizadas na época I, as raízes apresentaram maior ramifica o. Os resultados foram satisfatórios, indicando que o método pode ser utilizado com sucesso no pessegueiro, principalmente em trabalhos de pesquisa que necessitem de um pequeno número de plantas idênticas geneticamente.

Abstract: this paper presents the historical description of the public library of maranh?o, and the economical, political and social situation of the state of maranh?o in the 19th century, which has contributed for creation of the library. it also points out the factors that caused the failure of the library and its re-emergence in the beginning of the first republic, a period marked by a social-cultural identity of progressivism. in addition, this work presents the main educational aspects that existed in the library under antonio lobo's management. the method used is characterized as historical-descriptive, and it is based in the analyses and descriptions of the presidential reports of maranh?o related to the 19th and early 20th centuries. therefore, the study shows that the history of the library of maranh?o was marked by difficulties related to the lack of interest from the government to provide the necessary conditions to promote culture.
Microscopic analytical theory of a correlated, two-dimensional N-electron gas in a magnetic field

Abstract: We present a microscopic, analytical theory describing a confined N-electron gas in two dimensions subject to an external magnetic field. The number of electrons N and strength of the electron-electron interaction can be arbitrarily large, and all Landau levels are included implicitly. A possible connection with the Integer and Fractional Quantum Hall Effects is proposed.
