Abstract: Presents results of a survey on particular esolas located in the urban perimeter of the city of Londrina, librarian's activities to promote the reading of literature. Grant search in library science and education in mediation, thematic reading at school, mediation, mediators in the formation of the little reader, school library and reading promotion activity. Used as data collection instrument two forms, with them it was possible to detect the activities conducted in these schools, the first being the time of the tale, the second loan of books and the third is "reading incentive". Concludes that the tale has been shown to be effective in bringing children with the book; the second is a compulsory work in the library, therefore, should be carried out continuously and the third is essential in all genres of the library.

Abstract: the quality of an autobiographical narrative seems to depend on both verbal skills (style and coherence) and imagistic resources. however, the impact of cognitive verbal and/or visual styles on the evocation of memories that produce the narrative is still unclear. a total of 82 college students from different fields (psychology, languages, biomedicine and dentistry), aged between 17 and 54 years old (mean = 22.66 years, sd = 6.2) wrote an autobiographical event and answered to three questionnaires: autobiographical memory, verbalizer-visualizer, and imagination. the results did not indicate the presence of visual cues in the autobiographical narrative, but showed differences between two groups of students (psychology and language versus dentistry and biomedicine) for verbal style, number of words and narrative coherence. the interaction among these three variables was supported by both the correlation between narrative coherence and number of words (r = 0.769, p = 0.001), and by the narrative profiles among college groups.

Brazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases , 2002,
Abstract: There is increasing interest in the identification of factors associated with liver disease progression in patients infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV). We assessed host-related factors associated with a histologically advanced stage of this disease and determined the rate of liver fibrosis progression in HCV-infected patients. We included patients submitted to liver biopsy, who were anti-HCV and HCV RNA positive, who showed a parenteral risk factor (blood transfusion or intravenous drug use), and who gave information about alcohol consumption.Patients were divided into two groups for analysis: group 1 - grades 0 to 2; group 2 - grades 3 to 4. The groups were compared in terms of sex, age at the time of infection, estimated duration of infection and alcoholism. The rate of fibrosis progression (index of fibrosis) was determined based on the relationship between disease stage and duration of infection (years). Logistic regression analysis revealed that age at the time of infection (P<0.01; 95% CI 1.06-1.22) and the duration of infection (P<0.01; 95% CI 1.06-1.32) were independently associated with a more advanced stage of hepatitis C. The median index of fibrosis was 0.14 for the group as a whole. A significant difference in the index of fibrosis was observed between patients aged < 40 years at infection (median = 0.11) and patients aged > or = 40 years (median = 0.47). The main factors associated with a more rapid fibrosis progression were age at the time of infection and the estimated duration of infection. Patients who acquired HCV after 40 years of age showed a higher rate of fibrosis progression.

Abstract: human herpesvirus type 6-(hhv-6) has been associated with morbidity after liver transplantation. objective: the aim of this study was to determine the hhv-6 seroprevalence among donor-recipient pairs, analyze the incidence of early active infection, its clinical manifestation, interaction with cmv, and the related morbidity in the first year after kidney transplantation. methods: 46 donor-recipient pairs had igg evaluated by elisa before transplantation: hhv-6(pambio - usa) and cmv-(roche - usa). a frozen whole blood sample collected weekly (from the 1st to the 6th week) was retrospectively tested for hhv-6 viral load (vl) determination by real time quantitative pcr (qpcr, nanogen - italy). patients were preemptively surveyed for cmv by pp65 antigenemia (ag, apaap, immunohistochemistry, biotest - germany) from the 4th to the 12th week after transplantation. active infection was defined as qpcr-hhv6+ (viral-load/ml-vl) and ag+ (+cells/100.000 granulocytes), for hhv-6 and cmv, respectively. dcmv was defined as simultaneous positive antigenemia and suggestive signs/symptoms. concerning +qpcr-hhv6, associated factors, clinical manifestation, interaction with cmv and morbidity were searched. results: pre-transplant hhv-6 seroprevalence was significantly higher among kidney recipients compared to their donors (82.6x54.8%; p = 0.005 [3.9 (1.4-10.4)]). active infection by this virus occurred in 26.1% (12/46), with no association with previous igg (p = 0.412). median vl was 125 copies/ml (53-11.264), and the median ag was 21 +cells (2-740). there was no association between hhv-6 and cmv activation after transplantation (p = 0.441), neither concerning dcmv (p = 0.596). median highest ag+ and days of ganciclovir treatment were similar between qpcr-hhv6 + or - (p = 0.206 and p = 0.124, respectively). qpcr-hhv6+ was associated with higher incidence of bacterial (p = 0.009) and fungal (p = 0.001) infections, and higher number (p = 0.001) of hospital admission and longer duration

Abstract: background and objectives: the use of different mac multiples of sevoflurane and halothane, and the different effect of n2o on the mac of these agents in children, are usually argued as the reason for the same induction and recovery times of these agents which have different blood solubilities. this study evaluated the induction time to different mac multiples and the recovery time of anesthesia maintained with a fixed expired concentration (1 mac) of halothane or sevoflurane, associated or not to n2o, in children under epidural caudal anesthesia. methods: participated in this study 63 children allocated in 4 groups according to the anesthetic drug used. group 1 = halothane; group 2 = halothane plus n2o; group 3 = sevoflurane; group 4 = sevoflurane plus n2o. all children were submitted to caudal epidural blockade. mask induction was started with 1 mac of halogenate followed by 0.5 mac increments at every three respiratory movements until a maximum of 3 mac was obtained. the following parameters were recorded: heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, inhaled agent expired fraction and times for induction, recovery and response to commands. results: duration of surgery did not differ significantly among groups. the times to eyelash reflex loss, end of induction, emergence and oriented responses for groups 1 and 2 were longer than for groups 3 and 4 (p < 0.001) without significant differences between groups 1 and 2 and between groups 3 and 4. there were no differences in heart rate and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. conclusions: in the age range studied and with the anesthetic technique used, induction and recovery times were different between the halothane and the sevoflurane group, but did not differ when nitrous oxide was added to the halogenate.

Modern Economy (ME) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/me.2015.63033
Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to verify the necessary conditions for a possible existence of a steady state balance in an economy. This steady state balance contemplates in its long-term period, the dynamics of the inflation, the interest rate and the exchange rate. Besides, it is considered the public debt of the economy, which is indexed to these three variables in an environment where monetary politics incorporates the use of inflation target. In the stability analysis, it is possible to verify a rest position in the system framework. The conditions at this point present an economy with a mechanism of “dedollarization” of the public debt. By this first condition, the stability analysis calls attention with respect to the measure of the process of “dedollarization”. Depending on its intensity, the economy will show a positive wealth effect that could stimulate the expansion of the investments.

Griot : Revista de Filosofia , 2012,
Abstract: A proposta é repensar o famoso conceito de Nietzsche, vontade de poder.
