Teoria, avalia??o e psicoterapia segundo a proposta de Theodore Millon

Abstract: the personality disorders can be understood as theoretical constructs employed to represent different styles or patterns in which personality works maladapted to its environment. the personality styles theory of theodore millon is one of the models that aims to understand these disorders. from this theoretical model, different personality styles are proposed, as well as a tool for assessment of personality disorders, the millon clinical multiaxial inventory (mcmi), which is widely used worldwide in the research and clinical context, and a psychotherapeutic proposal, called synergistic psychotherapy.
Depressive Symptoms in Patients with Cancer  [PDF]

Abstract: The purpose of this survey was to investigate depressive symptoms in cancer patients and the differences based on gender, quality of life and social support. Sixty-eight patients diagnosed with cancer participated in the research, with ages varying between 25 and 83 years (A = 55.4; SD = 13.3) and 85.3% were female. The instruments used were Identification Questionnaire, Perceived Social Support Scale—adult version (EPSUS-A), Medical Outcomes Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) and the Baptista Depression Scale Hospital—clinic version (EBADEP-HOSP-AMB). It was verified that most of the patients reported not having depression diagnosis before the cancer, nor in the current moment, besides not using anti-depressive medication. The scores obtained in the EBADEP-HOSP-AMB suggest light depressive symptoms. It is concluded that the depressive symptoms were mostly presented in women, in patients with worse mental health condition and in those less satisfied with the social support.
Tradu??o e adapta??o cultural do Outcome Questionnaire (OQ-45) para o Brasil

Abstract: the outcome questionnaire (oq-45) is an instrument designed to measure client's progress in therapy, repeatedly, during psychotherapy. it is not a theoretically oriented, and can be applied to psychotherapy of different theoretical approaches. it shows evidence of validity and internal consistency, in its original version. the aim of this work was to translate and culturally adapt the oq-45 to the context of brazilian culture. the process consists of five stages: translation, synthesis, back-translation, review by experts and pre-test. it was based on two versions: the original, in english and the portuguese. the results suggest that the oq-45 is an easy test to understand and to apply, even in people with low educational level. validity and reliability studies will be needed for the brazilian version, comparing clinical with non-clinical samples.
Application of the Rasch model in measuring personality disorders

Abstract: objective: to describe item and person parameters obtained with the rasch model, one of the item response theory models, in the assessment of personality disorders based on millon's theory. method: a total of 350 people participated in the study. age ranged from 18 to 67 years (mean ± standard deviation = 27.02±10.13), and 71.7% of the participants (n = 251) were female. of the 350 individuals, 21.1% (n = 74) answered affirmatively about being under psychiatric treatment and taking psychiatric medications. the personality disorders dimensional inventory (pddi), an instrument designed to assess personality disorders according to millon's theory, was applied to all participants. data were analyzed using the rasch model. results: overall, analysis with the rasch model revealed that the pddi has adequate psychometric properties for the assessment of personality disorders. conclusion: among the contributions of item response theory models for clinical instruments, the rasch person-item map deserves to be highlighted as a successful attempt to improve the understanding of clinical scores obtained in response to particular test items.

Abstract: part of the national assessment of institutions of higher education considers student performance through enade. in this article we performed differential item function analysis of the enade that took place in 2006 trying to detect items with problems in measurement equivalence in the assessment of freshman and senior students and from public and private institutions. we analyzed a sample of 26,613 freshmen and seniors representative of all the courses in the country. we used the rasch analysis and logistic regression to detect dif. eleven of the 30 items composing the test showed dif. two types of dif were observed, one occurring in less discriminating items and the other in more discriminating items. the most relevant subgroup of items tends to favor students from public institutions. we also discuss the issue of discrimination parameter being an indicator of dif.

Abstract: this paper aimed: (1) to produce a brazilian version of the personality adjective check list (pacl), a test for personality assessment based on normal version styles proposed by millon's personality disorders theory, (2) to verify validity evidence of the instrument by means of a factorial analysis (internal structure) and of the relationship with external variables, and (3) to investigate internal consistency of the scales. participants were 203 undergraduate students, aged from 18 to 50 years old, 98 men and 105 women. it was found five factors in accordance with previous research on pacl. the reliability coefficients of the original factors ranged from 0,66 to 0,95. the results suggest that the pacl has adequate psychometric properties.

Abstract: Este estudo objetivou analisar a estrutura interna, a precis o e as diferen as de média por sexo e idade em uma escala de 10 itens para avalia o dos Cinco Grandes Fatores de Personalidade. Participaram 404 estudantes do ensino médio, com média de idade de 15,9 anos, do Estado de S o Paulo. A escala Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI) é composta por 10 itens, que s o duplas de adjetivos e que representam os tra os de personalidade respondidos em escala Likert de 1 a 7. N o foi possível recuperar a estrutura de cinco fatores por meio da análise dos componentes principais, mas sim uma estrutura de três fatores que englobaram conteúdos de desejabilidade social, problemas de ajustamento e estabilidade emocional, com precis es entre 0,41 e 0,63. Além disso, houve diferen as significativas de média associadas à idade. Os resultados s o discutidos em termos das limita es do estudo bem como da escala utilizada. Este estudio tuvo objetivo analizar la estructura interna, precisión y las diferencias de acuerdo con género y edad en una escala de 10 ítems para evaluación de los cinco grandes factores de la personalidad. Participaron 404 estudiantes de la escuela secundaria, con una edad media de 15,9 a os, del estado de S o Paulo. La escala Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI), conformada por 10 ítems, que son pares de adjetivos que representan los rasgos de la personalidad bajo en una escala tipo Likert de 1 a 7. No fue posible recuperar la estructura de cinco factores a través del análisis de componentes principales, pero sí una estructura de tres factores que abarca el contenido de la deseabilidad social, problemas de ajuste y la estabilidad emocional, con la precisión entre 0,41 y 0,63. Además, fueron encontradas diferencias de medias significativas asociadas con la edad. Los resultados se discuten en relación a las limitaciones del estudio y escala. This study analyzes the internal structure, precision and differences of averages by gender and age on a 10-item scale, designed to assess the Big Five Personality traits. A total of 404 high school students, with an average age of 15.9 years, from S o Paulo, Brazil participated in the study. The Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI) scale is comprised of pairs of adjectives representing personality traits arranged on a Likert scale varying from 1 to 7, measuring levels of agreement. Abstract: A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo buscar evidências de validade com base na estrutura interna e de critério para um instrumento de avalia o do processamento auditivo das habilidades musicais (Teste de Processamento Auditivo com Estímulos Musicais, RAu). Para tanto, foram avaliadas 162 pessoas de ambos os sexos, sendo 56,8% homens, com faixa etária entre 15 e 59 anos (M=27,5; DP=9,01). Os participantes foram divididos entre músicos (N=24), amadores (N=62) e leigos (N=76), de acordo com o nível de conhecimento em música. Por meio da análise Full Information Factor Analysis, verificou-se a dimensionalidade do instrumento, e também as propriedades dos itens, por meio da Teoria de Resposta ao Item (TRI). Além disso, buscou-se identificar a capacidade de discrimina o entre os grupos de músicos e n o-músicos. Os dados encontrados apontam evidências de que os itens medem uma dimens o principal (alfa=0,92) com alta capacidade para diferenciar os grupos de músicos profissionais, amadores e leigos, obtendo-se um coeficiente de validade de critério de r=0,68. Os resultado indicam evidências positivas de precis o e validade para o RAu. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo buscar evidencias de validez basadas en la estructura interna y de criterio para un instrumento de evaluación del procesamiento auditivo de las habilidades musicales (Test de Procesamiento Auditivo con Estímulos Musicales, RAu). Para eso, fueron evaluadas 162 personas de ambos los sexos, siendo 56,8% hombres, con rango de edad entre 15 y 59 a os (M=27,5; DP=9,01). Los participantes fueron divididos entre músicos (N=24), aficionados (N=62) y laicos (N=76) de acuerdo con el nivel de conocimiento en música. Por medio del análisis Full Information Factor Analysis se verificó la dimensionalidad del instrumento y también las propiedades de los ítems a través de la Teoría de Respuesta al ítem (TRI). Además, se buscó identificar la capacidad de discriminación entre los grupos de músicos y no músicos. Los datos encontrados apuntan evidencias de que los ítems miden una dimensión principal (alfa=0,92) con alta capacidad para diferenciar los grupos de músicos profesionales, aficionados y laicos obteniéndose un coeficiente de validez de criterio de r=0,68. Los resultados indican evidencias positivas de precisión y validez para el RAu. Abstract: the aim of this study was investigate relations between social skills and acceptance-rejection in college students. 126 college students attending at physical education course from a university of the interior of the state of s?o paulo were studied. the social skills assessment was taken by the inventário de habilidades sociais (ihs) and the sociometric measure was related to the rejection or acceptation of the students by their peers in the studying and go out situations. among the results, the acceptance in both situations was not explained by any of the social skills measures to men. to the women, in both situations acceptance were explained by the self-exposition to stranger's measure. this research clarifies some of the social behaviors that can be used in social skills training with men and women to avoid its rejection in the group and maximizes the acceptance.
