A specific case in tourism marketing: Rural tourism in the Basque Country
LUCíA MEDIANO SERRANO
Cuadernos de Gestión , 2001,
Abstract: Rural tourism in the Basque Country, which began in 1988, is a way of tourism developed in the rural environment. It develops in agrarian exploitations, and it’s leaded by farmers, who combine their traditional activity with giving another services. Marketing application in this kind of tourism has been very limited, and it’s been directed by Autonomic Administration. Since 1999, the Basque Association of Agrarian Tourism Exploitations Owners, Nekazalturismoa , has the challenge of impulsing this activity, in which, the consumer orientation has the priority in order to be competitive. All of that must be done respecting the social, cultural and economic environment. Also, to reach this objective, all the participants, both public and private institutions, have to work together in marketing and management subjects.

Abstract: The increasing ecological concern and the need to attend to the new ecological demand, oblige enterprises to develop analysis tools in order to know better to the ecological consumer. The market segmentation is a valid tool to find differences among ecological consumers, and it allows the enterprise to adecue the marketing strategy to the preferences of the detected segments. In this paper we analyse the limitations of traditional criteria of segmentation and the advantages of multicriteria segmentation to define the complexity of the ecological consumer and the marketing mix strategy. We also show some of the most relevant segmentations of the ecological market.
Pinzón,Carlos Eduardo; Serrano,Martha Lucía; Sanabria,María Carolina;
Revista Ciencias de la Salud , 2009,
Abstract: the signaling pathway of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (pi3k) is critical in many aspects of growth and cell survival. the path of pi3k is stimulated physiologically as a result of many growth factors and regulatory factors. several genetic alterations such as amplification, mutation and chromosomal arrangements may compromise the pi3k pathway, generating permanent activation in different cancer types have found evidence of these deleterious genetic modifications. abnormal activation of the pi3k pathway results in alteration of the control mechanisms of growth and cell survival, which favors the competitive growth, and frequently metastatic capacity, greater resistance to treatment. the aim of this paper is to review matters relating to the operation of the pi3k/akt signaling pathway and its role in the process of carcinogenesis in humans.
Involvement of Crawling and Attached Ciliates in the Aggregation of Particles in Wastewater Treatment Plants

Air, Soil and Water Research , 2012,
Abstract: The biological community in activated sludge wastewater plants is organized within this ecosystem as bioaggregates or flocs, in which the biotic component is embedded in a complex matrix comprised of extracellular polymeric substances mainly of microbial origin. The aim of this work is to study the role of different floc-associated ciliates commonly reported in wastewater treatment plants-crawling Euplotes and sessile Vorticella- in the formation of aggregates. Flocs, in experiments with ciliates and latex beads, showed more compactation and cohesion among particles than those in the absence of ciliates. Ciliates have been shown to contribute to floc formation through different mechanisms such as the active secretion of polymeric substances (extrusomes), their biological activities (movement and feeding strategies), or the cysts formation capacity of some species. Staining with lectins coupled to fluorescein showed that carbohydrate of the matrix contained glucose, manose, N-acetyl-glucosamine and galactose. Protein fraction revealed over the latex beads surfaces could probably be of bacterial origin, but nucleic acids represented an important fraction of the extracellular polymeric substances of ciliate origin.

Abstract: the intention of this article is to argue that our theories of dominion about reality (and particularly our theories about the phenomena of social reality) are originated by both, the influence of the phylogenetic inheritance of our species (implicit theories) and the cultural influences of the cognitive niches that human beings have constructed (mental models). the change from our spontaneous conceptions about learning (both the realistic and interpretative) to artificial conceptions (the constructive) requires an arduous and conscious exercise that will have to be mediated by systems of intentional instruction. in educative contexts, the professors' role is essential in order to create a conceptual change from the realistic implicit conceptions to the constructive conceptions.

Abstract: Introducción.
Abstract: This work seeks to determine the potential of the brand as a tool that can create value for the lamb sector of the Basque Country, and analyzes to what extent the sector is taking advantage of that potential. To achieve this goal, we carry out a review of the literature related to perceived value, information signals, brands and value delivery networks. Subsequently, we conduct an empirical analysis of the Basque lamb sector based on primary and secondary sources of information. The results illustrate the possibilities for the brand to increase value for customers and enhance the competitiveness of the sector.

Biomédica , 2006,
Abstract: introduction. pap smear has limitations as a screening test for cervical cancer. a marker that allows the identification of women who are at risk of developing cervical cancer would be useful for its prevention. a growing number of studies have demonstrated an association between insulin-like growth factors (igf) serum levels and increased risk for various cancers. objective. to assess whether circulating igf-i, igf-ii, or igf binding protein 3 (igfbp-3) were associated with cervical cancer and low-grade and high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (lsil and hsil). materials and methods. serum levels of igf-i, igf-ii and igfbp-3 were measured by elisa. three groups of cases were analyzed: lsil (n = 37), hsil (n = 57), and cervical cancer (n = 41). for each case, two controls, matched by age, were included. control subjects were women with normal, hpv-dna-negative pap smear. results. significantly lower values of igf-i (83.9 ng/ml versus 126.6 ng/ml, p < 0.001) and igfi: igfbp-3 molar ratio (0.094 versus 0.137, p < 0.001) were observed among cancer cases, as compared to their control group. women in the highest quartile of igf-i and igf-i:igfbp-3 molar ratio were at an 80% (or = 0.2, 95% ci [0.06-0.61]) and a 77% (or = 0.23, 95% ci [0.07- 0.73]) lower risk of cervical cancer, respectively, compared with women in the corresponding reference category. conclusions. these data suggest that low values of igf-i and igf-i:igfbp-3 molar ratio may be associated with cervical cancer.
