Sexual dimorphism and fecundity in the gold-stripe pond frog(Pelophylax plancyi)and the terrestrial frog(Fejervarya limnocharis)

Abstract: 比较金线侧褶蛙和泽陆蛙的两性异形和生育力,首次通过种间比较来验证生育力选择理论是否能解释两栖动物两性异形的进化。金线侧褶蛙和泽陆蛙均为雌体大于雄体的两性异形类型,其两性异形程度存在显著差异,金线侧褶蛙两性异形程度指数为0 .30 ,而泽陆蛙仅为0 .0 8。然而,两者的怀卵量无显著差异。因此,结果与生育力选择理论预测不一致。此种不一致性可能由下述原因导致:选择压力作用于雄体而非雌体、能量分配策略和死亡率的种间差异、以及系统发育历史的种间差异。金线侧褶蛙和泽陆蛙雄体的身体状态指数显著高于雌体。金线侧褶蛙的头,眼和四肢都显著大于泽陆蛙;两者雌体的前后肢长度显著大于雄体。两性金线侧褶蛙的前后肢随体长呈同速生长,而泽陆蛙的前后肢随体长呈异速生长

Abstract: The saturable reactor with an inductive d.c. load is one of the most basic circuits of magnetic amplifiers. The non-linearities involved in its operation are very peculiar, and thus bring great difficulties to any attempt on its theoretical analysis.On the basis of the actual current-wave forms, a new set of formulas for the static and dynamic characteristics of the circuit is rigorously derived in this paper. It is shown that the static characteristic of a S. R. with a d.c. inductive load is sensitive particularly to the variations of the resistance ratios, rx/ry and RL/ry and that the transfer function of the circuit is of the form: Y(s)=(1+Tas)/(1+T1s+T2s2)Experiments indicate that the formulas derived in this paper are correct and easy to use. They agree very satisfactorily with the experimental data and are valid for most cases. Many anomalies, which could hardly be explained before in the operation of the circuit, are found now to be not peculiar at all.

Abstract: In the current information sharing systems, there is a problem of firewall penetration. As for this problem and based on the existing TCP and UDP penetration schemes, we analyze all kinds of possible transmission environments in practical applications, and then present a technique of UDP coordinating with TCP to penetrate firewalls. Finally, we present the realization of this method: a network switch --XIPSwitch, which is independent from various applications. The realization method can further solve the firewall penetration problem of the internal terminals in the existing information sharing systems.
Monocular vision based navigation method of mobile robot

Abstract: A trajectory tracking method is presented for the visual navigation of the monocular mobile robot. The robot move along line trajectory drawn beforehand, recognized and stop on the stop-sign to finish special task. The robot uses a forward looking colorful digital camera to capture information in front of the robot, and by the use of HSI model partition the trajectory and the stop-sign out. Then the "sampling estimate" method was used to calculate the navigation parameters. The stop-sign is easily recognized and can identify 256 different signs. Tests indicate that the method can fit large-scale intensity of brightness and has more robustness and better real-time character.

Abstract: 对流层顶折叠是中纬度地区对流层上层—平流层下层区域(简称UT/LS)内的一个重要的大气现象,它与气旋生、暴雨强对流触发以及降水增幅密切相关。由于这些天气条件下的大气状况异常复杂,因此目前国际上普遍采用的基于干大气条件的对流层顶折叠检测方法存在很大局限性。本文在借鉴已有的卫星资料和数值预报相结合的模式识别法的基础上,通过统计分析的方法建立了高层大气水汽与广义湿位涡、臭氧浓度的关系以及对流层顶折叠与高空急流的位置关系,同时考虑了动力对流层顶高度在判识过程中的辅助作用,建立了一套基于FY-2E静止气象卫星遥感数据的,适用于与暴雨强对流有关的对流层顶折叠动态监测新方法。在利用FY-3A和FY-3B反演的臭氧总量、臭氧垂直廓线以及ECMWFInterim资料计算的位涡等资料对算法进行精度验证的基础上,将该方法在2012年7月21日北京特大暴雨天气过程以及2013年5月14~17日华南大暴雨天气过程的监测和分析上进行了应用,并取得了较好的效果。从应用效果看,本文提出的这种对流层顶折叠识别方法是合理可行的,并具有一定的应用价值,可为中纬度地区暴雨强对流天气的监测和预警提供参考指标。
The Transmission of Pricing Information of Dually-Listed between Hong Kong and New York Stock Exchange  [PDF]

Abstract: The study investigates the transmission of pricing information between Hong Kong Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. Using the opening and closing stock prices of these two markets from Jan. 2003 to Apr. 2007 with the method of Seemingly Unrelated Regression, we draw the conclusions that: 1) intraday returns of Chinese dually-listed stocks is influenced more obviously by Hang Seng Index than Dow-Jones Average; 2) transmission of pricing information is only from New York to Hong Kong; 3) intraday returns of stocks from New York Stock Exchange has a remarkable influence on that of the next day in Hongkong market, but the stocks price of Hong Kong Stock Exchange has no relation with which of New York Stock Exchange.
Glycosylation and secretion of human α-amylases  [PDF]

Abstract: Three human α-amylases exist: Amy1 (salivary amylase), Amy2A (pancreatic amylase), and Amy2B (expressed in various tissues). These amylases share a 97% - 99% amino acid sequence identity, and two potential N-glycosylation sites (N427 and N476) are commonly found in the C-terminal region. In general, salivary amylase is more frequently glycosylated than pancreatic amylase, and it is still uncertain why differences in the glycosylation pattern among human amylase iso-zymes occur. In this study, we found that there was no significant change of ratio of glycosylated molecules among isozymes produced by the same cultured cells, indicating that glycosylation of amylase is influenced by the type of cell producing the enzyme rather than being an inherent property of the amylase isozymes. We analyzed the glycosylation efficiency of N-glycosylation sites in recombinant Amy2A mutants produced by HEK293 cells and found that glycosylation efficiencies of N427 and N476 were 3% - 18% and 40% - 52%, respectively, indicating that the major N-glycosylation site of glycosylated Amy2A produced by HEK293 cells is N476. The difference in the glycosylation efficiency of each N-glycosylation site also seemed to contribute in part to generate different glycosylation patterns of human amylases. We also confirmed that the C-terminal region of human amylase plays a critical role in secretion, although glycosylation does not play a part in this effect.
An RIG-I-Like RNA Helicase Mediates Antiviral RNAi Downstream of Viral siRNA Biogenesis in Caenorhabditis elegans

Abstract: Dicer ribonucleases of plants and invertebrate animals including Caenorhabditis elegans recognize and process a viral RNA trigger into virus-derived small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) to guide specific viral immunity by Argonaute-dependent RNA interference (RNAi). C. elegans also encodes three Dicer-related helicase (drh) genes closely related to the RIG-I-like RNA helicase receptors which initiate broad-spectrum innate immunity against RNA viruses in mammals. Here we developed a transgenic C. elegans strain that expressed intense green fluorescence from a chromosomally integrated flock house virus replicon only after knockdown or knockout of a gene required for antiviral RNAi. Use of the reporter nematode strain in a feeding RNAi screen identified drh-1 as an essential component of the antiviral RNAi pathway. However, RNAi induced by either exogenous dsRNA or the viral replicon was enhanced in drh-2 mutant nematodes, whereas exogenous RNAi was essentially unaltered in drh-1 mutant nematodes, indicating that exogenous and antiviral RNAi pathways are genetically distinct. Genetic epistatic analysis shows that drh-1 acts downstream of virus sensing and viral siRNA biogenesis to mediate specific antiviral RNAi. Notably, we found that two members of the substantially expanded subfamily of Argonautes specific to C. elegans control parallel antiviral RNAi pathways. These findings demonstrate both conserved and unique strategies of C. elegans in antiviral defense.
