Abstract: Language is a vehicle of interactions that occurs in our social life. So, it is an instrument of communication and resource of implicit or explicit social relationships, and as such, also of social capital. In a highly cohesive group within the meaning of intensive strong relationships internal to it in a given area of social life, one can assume that the language used and referenced in this field is identical in other areas if the same group remains also cohesive. Viewed conversely, the fact that in a group are given and use two or more different languages, unknown or limited authority in parts of this group, does not provide the overall cohesion of the group and whether the formation of cohesive groups and linguistic communities. In the case of integration, that is, relations of a group with other groups identified as different by other traits that language, it can be assumed that the existence of a common language and reference guide is a facilitating mechanism, though not decisive, the collective integration of all such groups.Assertions and tries to explore this article, for different groups in Catalonia, is that the language of a collective can be a factor of homophily that facilitates both internal cohesion and integration with other groups with the same language. On the other hand, the use different languages do not facilitate such integration for the groups identified by other characteristics.
Lozares Colina, Carlos
REDES : Revista Hispana para el Análisis de Redes Sociales , 2006,
Abstract: This article tries to identify and to relate the factual to the cognitive dimensions of a biographical history understood as a narrative representation. It is constructed by the interviewed from the combination of both dimensions. This paper proposes reticular discourse analysis as an effective method for putting forward both dimensions in a related fashion. Through linguistics and ad hoc social network theories, the discourse from the biographical history is framed, analyzed and made relevant.

Lozares, Carlos,Verd, Joan Miquel
REDES : Revista Hispana para el Análisis de Redes Sociales , 2008,
Abstract: The article proposes an alternative method to the commonly used panel survey in order to analyse social-personal networks. The objective is examining the dynamics inherent to social-personal networks through narratives obtained by means of biographic-narrative interviews. This kind of interviews offers information that when considered and analysed by means of the procedures characteristic of the social networks perspective allow to reveal the changes occurred in the network of relations of the interviewee.
Muntanyola, Dafne,Lozares Colina, Carlos
REDES : Revista Hispana para el Análisis de Redes Sociales , 2006,
Abstract: The present article explains the shooting of a single movie scene, defined as a process of representation, with intentional agents and representational resources. Network Analysis as presented gives us an external representation of a Technical and Functional network. Furthermore, three dimensions of the observed productive process are put forward: coordination, synchronization, and complexity. Two mechanisms of domination are extracted from the suggested synthesis between our theoretical framework and the empirical material gathered. Such mechanisms shape the filmmaking process as an exchange of dominated and dominant resources, given an unequal distribution structure. In all, Network Analysis is seen from a sociological perspective as useful, in order to understand the objective development of the filmmaking process. Nevertheless, it is claimed that power relations need to be analyzed further, as central elements in any social process.
Lozares, Carlos,Verd, Joan Miquel
REDES : Revista Hispana para el Análisis de Redes Sociales , 2011,
Abstract: This article has four articulated objectives. First, presenting the contents with which, in the ad hoc literature, Social Cohesion and Homofily are indentified and analysed. Both concepts steam from different traditions which have originated dissimilar definitions. Second, to find an anchorage among both conceptions that permits a conjugation in their identification and processing: it is a matter of the relations-interactions among individuals or other agents. Third, developing an open conception of both contents, Social Cohesion and Homofily, as a social process of mutual feedback. At last, in fourth place, the article presents a possibility of convergence as a process of method and calculation to study the conjugation between Social Cohesion and Homofily inside a more extensive process of feedback among both.
Radioterapia con partículas pesadas

Anales del Sistema Sanitario de Navarra , 2009, DOI: 10.4321/S1137-66272009000400009
Abstract: the characteristics of radiation formed by heavy particles make it a highly useful tool for therapeutic use. protons, helium nuclei or carbon ions are being successfully employed in radiotherapy installations throughout the world. this article sets out the physical and technological foundations that make these radiation particles suitable for attacking white volume, as well as the different ways of administering treatment. next, the main clinical applications are described, which show the therapeutic advantages in some of the pathologies most widely employed in proton and hadrontherapy centres at present. under continuous study, the clinical use of heavy particles appears to be an enormously promising path of advance in comparison with classical technologies, both in tumour coverage and in reducing dosages in surrounding tissue.

Abstract: both the planning systems and the form of administering radiotherapy have changed radically since the introduction of 3d planning. at present treatment planning based on computerised axial tomography (cat) images is standard practice in radiotherapy services. in recent years lineal accelerators for medical use have incorporated technology capable of administering intensity modulated radiation beams (imrt). with this mode distributions of conformed doses are generated that adjust to the three dimensional form of the white volume, providing appropriate coverage and a lower dose to nearby risk organs. the use of imrt is rapidly spreading amongst radiotherapy centres throughout the world. this growing use of imrt has focused attention on the need for greater control of the geometric uncertainties in positioning the patient and control of internal movements. to this end, both flat and volumetric image systems have been incorporated into the treatment equipment, making image-guided radiotherapy (igrt) possible. this article offers a brief description of the latest advances included in the planning and administration of radiotherapy treatment.

The characteristics of radiation formed by heavy particles make it a highly useful tool for therapeutic use.
