El còmic a Mallorca durant els anys vuitanta. Un mitjà de renovació cultural [Comics in Majorca durant the 1980’s. A medium for cultural renewal]
Lladó Pol, Francisca
Zeitschrift für Katalanistik , 2012,
Abstract: The comic of the 1980s in Majorca presents some peculiarities which are a consequence of the period following Franco's death. The first, rather primitive examples of this new type of comic appeared around 1976, mostly in the form of so-called fanzines, which were directly related to the renewal of the visual arts, not only in the media, but especially those of the avantgarde. As early as 1983, the first magazines appeared that were distributed by commercial infrastructure and that aimed to renew conservative Majorcan society. This development eventually caused the comic to acquire characteristics, which gradually led this form of art towards postmodernism. The present article analyzes the role of comics as a medium of cultural renewal, arguing that the comics produced in the island be understood as an element of transcendence towards new forms of creation.
Decomposing almost complete graphs by random trees
Anna Lladó
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: An old conjecture of Ringel states that every tree with $m$ edges decomposes the complete graph $K_{2m+1}$. The best known lower bound for the order of a complete graph which admits a decomposition by every given tree with $m$ edges is $O(m^3)$. We show that asymptotically almost surely a random tree with $m$ edges and $p=2m+1$ a prime decomposes $K_{2m+1}(r)$ for every $r\ge 2$, the graph obtained from the complete graph $K_{2m+1}$ by replacing each vertex by a coclique of order $r$. Based on this result we show, among other results, that a random tree with $m+1$ edges a.a.s. decomposes the compete graph $K_{6m+5}$ minus one edge.

La imagen de Colombia y América en la literatura de Ramón Vinyes

Memorias: Revista Digital de Historia y Arqueología desde el Caribe , 2005,
Abstract: Llado explains the way how Colombia and Latin-America are present in the various genres of Vinyes′ literary production (poetry, theatre, prose). He traces the evolution from the telluric and post-romantic image of the first years to the image of the America which ceases to be a real myth and even becomes hostile during the exile, always taking also into account the politic point of view and Vinyes′ contribution to Colombian literary criticism

Impact of Climate Change and Variability on Wheat and Corn Production in Buenos Aires, Argentina  [PDF]
Maria Pol, Jacqueline Binyamin
American Journal of Climate Change (AJCC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajcc.2014.32013
Abstract:

From the Global Historical Climate Network (GHCN-V3), monthly mean summer (DJF) temperature (1856-2012) and total precipitation (1861-2012) are analyzed in correlation with four climate modes and sunspot number to better understand the role of teleconnections on Buenos Aires’ (Argentina) climate. A general increase in temperature and precipitation was observed. Temperature has increased by about 1.8°C and precipitation has increased by about 300 mm in the past century and a half. Indices of Arctic Oscillation (AO), Pacific North American (PNA), Antarctic Oscillation (AAO), and El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) are evaluated to study their effects on wheat and corn production and export. AO and PNA show strong relationships with precipitation and temperature received. AAO and ENSO show strong negative correlations with precipitation patterns and weak correlations with temperature. Sunspot Number shows a positive correlation with temperature. ENSO phases are strongly linked with the wheat and corn production and export; during El Nino Buenos Aires tends to experience extremely wet summer weather, causing soggy fields and extremely dry summer weather during La Nina causing drought. Both of these conditions result in reducing wheat and corn production and export.

The Addition of Pharmacists on a Patient Care Team to Improve Diabetic Patient Outcomes  [PDF]
Heather Marie Pol
Pharmacology & Pharmacy (PP) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/pp.2019.101002
Abstract:
As diabetes becomes more prevalent throughout the United States, there is an increased demand for healthcare providers and healthcare resources. Pharmacists have started to collaborate with primary care providers, and through this collaboration, pharmacists are able to augment patient care and provide additional resources to diabetic patients. This essay reviews the effect of one clinic that incorporates pharmacist interventions as an addition to established patient care teams, and evaluates the effect that the pharmacist interventions have on patient hemoglobin A1C%. While this essay provides data to show the positive benefits of pharmacist intervention on diabetes patients and A1C% goals, additional data and research are needed to demonstrate how pharmacists are a necessary addition to patient care teams.
On star-forest ascending subgraph decomposition
Anna Lladó,Josep Maria Aroca
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: The Ascending Subgraph Decomposition (ASD) Conjecture asserts that every graph $G$ with ${n+1\choose 2}$ edges admits an edge decomposition $G=H_1\oplus\cdots \oplus H_n$ such that $H_i$ has $i$ edges and it is isomorphic to a subgraph of $H_{i+1}$, $i=1,\ldots ,n-1$. We show that every bipartite graph $G$ with ${n+1\choose 2}$ edges such that the degree sequence $d_1,\ldots ,d_k$ of one of the stable sets satisfies $ d_{k-i}\ge n-i\; \text{for each}\; 0\le i\le k-1,$, admits an ascending subgraph decomposition with star forests. We also give a necessary condition on the degree sequence which is not far from the above sufficient one.
