A New Immunofluorescence Assay for Fecal Calprotectin Distinguishes Inflammatory Bowel Disease from Functional Bowel Disease  [PDF]

Abstract: Aims: To investigate the diagnostic value of fecal calprotectin (FC) determined by a new immunofluorescence assay-fluorescence enzyme immunoassay (FEIA) in patient with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or functional bowel disease, compared with the typical ELISA kit. Methods: FC was determined simultaneously by FEIA and an ELISA kit in 26 patients with functional bowel disease and 77 patients with IBD. We compared the difference of FC levels between patients with IBD and patients with functional bowel disease. Receiver operating characteristics curve (ROC) was constructed to obtain the optimal cut-off value of FC for distinguishing IBD from functional bowel disease and the corresponding sensitivity and specificity. Results: The median FC levels of patients with IBD in clinical active stage or clinical remission stage was significantly higher than that of patients with functional bowel disease. The median FC levels of patients with IBD in clinical active stage, IBD in clinical remission stage and functional bowel disease were as follow: 699.91 (346.14 ~ 1647.54) μg/g; 407.36 (121.81 ~ 878.48) μg/g; 39.04 (12.09 ~ 81.04) μg/g when FC was measured by FEIA. The median FC levels were 716.99 (240.42 ~ 1232.53) μg/g; 338.46 (53.08 ~ 692.82) μg/g; 41.44 (11.77 ~ 73.19) μg/g among such above three groups of patients respectively, when FC was measured by ELISA kit. The diagnostic value of IBD with FC determined by FEIA (optimal cut-off = 131.79 μg/g) and ELISA kit (optimal cut-off = 121.85 μg/g) presented an area under the curve of 0.881 and 0.873, respectively. Conclusions: FC determined by FEIA was an accurate surrogate marker to distinguish IBD from functional bowel disease.
Hilbert Boundary Value Problem with an Unknown Function on Arbitrary Infinite Straight Line  [PDF]

Abstract:

We consider a Hilbert boundary value problem with an unknown parametric function on arbitrary infinite straight line passing through the origin. We propose to transform the Hilbert boundary value problem to Riemann boundary value problem, and address it by defining symmetric extension for holomorphic functions about an arbitrary straight line passing through the origin. Finally, we develop the general solution and the solvable conditions for the Hilbert boundary value problem.

Abstract:

We considered a kind of singular integral operator with Weierstrass function kernel on a simple closed smooth curve in a fundamental period parallelogram. Using the method of complex functions, we established the Bertrand Poincaré formula for changing order of the corresponding integration, and some important properties for this kind of singular integral operator.

Abstract:

Various kinds of Riemann boundary value problems (BVPs) for analytic functions on closed curves or on open arc, doubly periodic Riemann BVPs, doubly quasi-periodic Riemann BVPs, and BVPs for polyanalytic functions have been widely investigated in [1-8]. The main ap- proach is to use the decomposition of polyanalytic functions and their generalization to transform the boundary value problems to their corresponding boundary value problems for analytic functions. Recently, inverse Riemann BVPs for generalized analytic functions or bianalytic functions have been investigated in [9-12].
In this paper, we consider a kind of Riemann BVP of non-normal type on the infinite straight line and discuss the solvable conditions and the general solution for it.

Correlation Analysis between Agglomeration Effect of Producer Service and Manufacture Labor Productivity in China  [PDF]

Abstract: Agglomeration effect of producer service will affect manufacture labor productivity because of the relationship between the producer service and manufacture. Based on the review of literature, this paper investigates the influence of specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration to manufacture labor productivity in China. Through panel data analysis of 31 provinces in China from 2005 to 2011, it is concluded that specialized agglomeration of producer service can promote manufacture labor productivity of eastern and western area, and has a negative effect to manufacture labor productivity of middle area. On the contrary, the diversified agglomeration of producer service has a negative effect on manufacture labor productivity in China’s eastern and western area and a positive effect in middle area. These conclusions make some sense to policy making of manufacturing efficiency promotion from the point of producer service.

Abstract: Particles play a very vital role in the language of English. Particles are mostly used as elements that help to encode grammatical categories. And it is one of the compulsory testing items in different kinds of examinations, such as TEM-4, TEM-8, CET-4 and CET-6. It is noted that particles have been distressing the students and teachers in China, which has been confirmed by the multiple testing outcome. Traditional schools of linguists hold the view that the complex senses of particles and their complicated collocations are idiomatic and arbitrary. Cognitive linguists believe that there exist certain logical relationships among the multiple senses of particles. Based on the theory of image schema, this paper discusses the projection of the particle “away” from the basic spatial domain to other non-spatial or abstract domains, thus analyzing the multiple meanings of “away” from a new perspective.

Abstract: The vulnerability evaluation index system of Tianjin urban economic system was established; entropy method was used to determine the weight of each evaluation index. Then, the vulnerability of Tianjin urban economic system was measured from the perspectives of economy sensitivity and resilience using set pair analysis method. Studies show that during 2000-2014, the sensitivity of the Tianjin urban economic system to cope with adverse disturbance, showing upward fluctuation, while the resilience showed a trend of rising. Generally, the vulnerability of Tianjin urban economic system is rising frequently and slowly.
Impacts of the “transport subsidy initiative on poor TB patients” in Rural China: A Patient-Cohort Based Longitudinal Study in Rural China

Abstract: Objective To describe the financial burden on TB patients for transportation during treatment, and to evaluate the impacts of the “transportation subsidy initiative on poor TB patients” in rural China for improving poor patients’ access to TB treatment. Methods A Case-cohort of 429 TB patients was investigated through questionnaire interviews in four counties of two provinces in China. Information on the financial burden for transportation during TB diagnosis and treatment was collected. Qualitative in-depth interviews with 26 TB patients were carried out to understand their perceptions of transportation subsidy initiative. Results The mean transportation cost of TB medical care was 97 CNY (70 CNY in median), varying from 0 to 700 CNY. About 51% of the patients spent more than 10 CNY per round trip to the TB dispensary. Of the 429 TB patients investigated, 139 had received transportation subsidies after getting TB diagnosis; 15/139 (10.9%) showed dissatisfaction, mainly because the subsidy amount being insufficient. The income of patients receiving transportation subsidies was significantly lower than those not receiving the subsidies (p<0.05). The impression that an appropriate transportation subsidy enables patients to complete the required visits during their TB treatment was obtained after observation of over 80% of the patients. Conclusion The transportation subsidy plays an important role in reducing financial burden on poor TB patients for the completion of treatment. However, the coverage was limited and the amount of subsidy was not enough under the present policy. Considering the poverty of rural TB patients, a universal coverage and a rational amount of transportation subsidy should be proposed.

Abstract: This paper investigated the dynamics of a dipole of ±1/2 parallel wedge disclination lines in a confined geometry, based on Landau-de Gennes theory. The behavior of the pair depends on the competition between two kinds of forces: the attractive force between the two defects, aggravating the annihilation process, and the anchoring forces coming from the substrates, inhibiting the annihilation process. There are three states when the system is equilibrium, divided by two critical thicknesses dc1 and dc2 (existing when r015ξ, r0 is the initial distance between the two defects), both changing linearly with r0. When the cell gap ddc1, the two defects coalesce and annihilate. The dynamics follows the function of r(t0-t)α during the annihilation step when d is sufficiently large, relative to r0, where r is the relative distance between the pair and t0 is the coalescence time. α decreases with the decrease of d or the increase of r0.
