Field Emission Properties and Fabrication of CdS Nanotube Arrays
Qian Xuemin,Liu Huibiao,Guo Yanbing,Zhu Shiqun
Nanoscale Research Letters , 2009,
Abstract: A large area arrays (ca. 40 cm2) of CdS nanotube on silicon wafer are successfully fabricated by the method of layer-by-layer deposition cycle. The wall thicknesses of CdS nanotubes are tuned by controlling the times of layer-by-layer deposition cycle. The field emission (FE) properties of CdS nanotube arrays are investigated for the first time. The arrays of CdS nanotube with thin wall exhibit better FE properties, a lower turn-on field, and a higher field enhancement factor than that of the arrays of CdS nanotube with thick wall, for which the ratio of length to the wall thickness of the CdS nanotubes have played an important role. With increasing the wall thickness of CdS nanotube, the enhancement factorβdecreases and the values of turn-on field and threshold field increase.
Effect of Aspect Ratio on Field Emission Properties of ZnO Nanorod Arrays
Qian Xuemin,Liu Huibiao,Guo Yanbing,Song Yinglin
Nanoscale Research Letters , 2008,
Abstract: ZnO nanorod arrays are prepared on a silicon wafer through a multi-step hydrothermal process. The aspect ratios and densities of the ZnO nanorod arrays are controlled by adjusting the reaction times and concentrations of solution. The investigation of field emission properties of ZnO nanorod arrays revealed a strong dependency on the aspect ratio and their density. The aspect ratio and spacing of ZnO nanorod arrays are 39 and 167 nm (sample C), respectively, to exhibit the best field emission properties. The turn-on field and threshold field of the nanorod arrays are 3.83 V/μm and 5.65 V/μm, respectively. Importantly, the sample C shows a highest enhancement of factorβ, which is 2612. The result shows that an optimum density and aspect ratio of ZnO nanorod arrays have high efficiency of field emission.
Ultra-Sensitivity Glucose Sensor Based on Field Emitters
Liu Huibiao,Qian Xuemin,Wang Shu,Li Yuliang
Nanoscale Research Letters , 2009,
Abstract: A new glucose sensor based on field emitter of ZnO nanorod arrays (ZNA) was fabricated. This new type of ZNA field emitter-based sensor shows high sensitivity with experimental limit of detection of 1 nM glucose solution and a detection range from 1 nM to 50 μM in air at room temperature, which is lower than that of glucose sensors based on surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy, fluorescence signal transmission, and electrochemical signal transduction. The new glucose sensor provides a key technique for promising consuming application in biological system for detecting low levels of glucose on single cells or bacterial cultures.
Apricot - An Object-Oriented Modeling Language for Hybrid Systems
Huixing Fang,Huibiao Zhu,Jianqi Shi
Computer Science , 2013,
Abstract: We propose Apricot as an object-oriented language for modeling hybrid systems. The language combines the features in domain specific language and object-oriented language, that fills the gap between design and implementation, as a result, we put forward the modeling language with simple and distinct syntax, structure and semantics. In addition, we introduce the concept of design by convention into Apricot. As the characteristic of object-oriented and the component architecture in Apricot, we conclude that it is competent for modeling hybrid systems without losing scalability.
Formalising the Continuous/Discrete Modeling Step
Richard Banach,Huibiao Zhu,Wen Su,Runlei Huang
Electronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science , 2011, DOI: 10.4204/eptcs.55.8
Abstract: Formally capturing the transition from a continuous model to a discrete model is investigated using model based refinement techniques. A very simple model for stopping (eg. of a train) is developed in both the continuous and discrete domains. The difference between the two is quantified using generic results from ODE theory, and these estimates can be compared with the exact solutions. Such results do not fit well into a conventional model based refinement framework; however they can be accommodated into a model based retrenchment. The retrenchment is described, and the way it can interface to refinement development on both the continuous and discrete sides is outlined. The approach is compared to what can be achieved using hybrid systems techniques.
Modelling Chinese Smart Grid: A Stochastic Model Checking Case Study
Ender Yüksel,Hanne Riis Nielson,Flemming Nielson,Huibiao Zhu,Heqing Huang
Computer Science , 2012,
Abstract: Cyber-physical systems integrate information and communication technology functions to the physical elements of a system for monitoring and controlling purposes. The conversion of traditional power grid into a smart grid, a fundamental example of a cyber-physical system, raises a number of issues that require novel methods and applications. In this context, an important issue is the verification of certain quantitative properties of the system. In this technical report, we consider a specific Chinese Smart Grid implementation and try to address the verification problem for certain quantitative properties including performance and battery consumption. We employ stochastic model checking approach and present our modelling and analysis study using PRISM model checker.
A New Repair Operator for Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithm in Constrained Optimization Problems
Zhun Fan,Wenji Li,Xinye Cai,Huibiao Lin,Shuxiang Xie,Erik Goodman
Computer Science , 2015,
Abstract: In this paper, we design a set of multi-objective constrained optimization problems (MCOPs) and propose a new repair operator to address them. The proposed repair operator is used to fix the solutions that violate the box constraints. More specifically, it employs a reversed correction strategy that can effectively avoid the population falling into local optimum. In addition, we integrate the proposed repair operator into two classical multi-objective evolutionary algorithms MOEA/D and NSGA-II. The proposed repair operator is compared with other two kinds of commonly used repair operators on benchmark problems CTPs and MCOPs. The experiment results demonstrate that our proposed approach is very effective in terms of convergence and diversity.
The Model of Mobile Knowledge Services System in the Management of Complex Cluster Project  [PDF]
Yong Liu, Bingxin Liu
iBusiness (IB) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ib.2011.31006
Abstract: Cluster projects are projects of large-scale or with huge investment, such as Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and Shanghai 2010 Expo. A lot of on-site management works are involved in the process of cluster project management, especially the treatment of sudden accidents which would produce plenty of knowledge and experience. As cluster project on-site management spots change frequently, knowledge produced by mobile workers in the process of on-site management is hard to be saved into the knowledge repository on time. It may cause a knowledge distortion or even missing. On the other hand, in the process of cluster project management, a lot of knowledge is required by on-site workers to deal with on-site activities. However, due to lack of effective mechanisms for knowledge communion, they often face the risk of making wrong decisions. To solve the problems of knowledge management and acquisition in the process of cluster project on-site management, this paper presents a system model for mobile knowledge service.
The Collusion Deterrence with Prisoner’s Dilemma  [PDF]
Aidong Liu, Jinfang Liu
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2010.34053
Abstract: I tried to present a new method to prevent collusion through employing two auditors at the same time and inspiring them provide true report by exploiting their prisoner’s dilemma. But I found this method cannot be put into practice because of the high cost. So I analyzed whether sending the second auditor in a probability, a low cost method, can deter the audit collusion. I find sending the second auditor in a probability, enforcing the rigidly lawful punishment and perfecting the reward mechanism can prevent audit collusion. I also find the auditor’s ethical constraint do good to prevent collusion and the charger of state assets management can play the same role as the real owner of the state-owned enterprise in deterring collusion. This finding provides theory support for the government to implement the publicly audit bidding and random double auditing system on state-owned enterprise. The supervision of PCAOB on auditors is also the operation of this theory.
Using Insulation in China’s Buildings: Potential for Significant Energy Savings and Carbon Emission Reductions  [PDF]
Guoliang Liu, Hans Liu
Low Carbon Economy (LCE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/lce.2011.24027
Abstract: Most old residential and commercial buildings in China are not insulated or not to new standards. This is true even in regions with very cold winters or regions with very hot summers. The insulation in new buildings is very poor relative to North American standards. However, insulating the exterior walls, attic roofs, and foundation walls to new standards of buildings in China would reduce the need for heating and air conditioning, and thus would save roughly 200 million tons of coal each year. This in turn would lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions of about 510 million tons per year, which is equal to about 8.4% of China’s total carbon emissions in 2006. The use of insulation in buildings will help homeowners save money, help China save energy and help the environment all at the same time. Insulation will provide a continued payback to the homeowner, not only in dollars and cents, but also by providing a more enjoyable and comfortable living environment for many years.
