Disciplinization of History Education in Modern China: A Study of History Education in the Imperial University of Peking (1898-1911)  [PDF]
Lin Li
Creative Education (CE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2012.34084
Abstract: Through a thorough investigation on the history education in the Imperial University of Peking from 1898 to 1911, this paper attempts to highlight the following findings. 1) The disciplinization of history education and the transformation of traditional historiography were concurrently incepted in the late Qing period. The Imperial University of Peking served as a pivotal platform for the realization of this synchronous process. 2) History instructors and students of this university can be regarded as initial participants in the new school system, as well as pioneering practitioners of the New History. 3) Zhongti xiyong, as the fundamental tenet of this university, in actual practice, was utilized as a slogan for justifying the introduction of Western learning. 4) Japan exerted tremendous influence on the history education at this university through sending history instructors and “re-exporting” new historical methods to China. 5) During the period discussed, there were in total twenty history instructors at this university. Their qualifications were commendable. 6) Regulations concerning history curriculum design, instruction and examination of the university assumed the task of alleviating the political and economic ordeals of China. Nonetheless, as with other reforms in the late Qing era, the government’s reformation efforts in this university could not rescue it from the predicament of “negative repercussions”.
Retail Pricing under Contract Self-Selection: An Empirical Exploration  [PDF]
Yuanfang Lin, Lianhua Li
Technology and Investment (TI) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ti.2013.41B007
Abstract: Using cross-sectional survey data on prices, station and market characteristics for 730 gasoline stations in the Greater Saint Louis area, we estimate a switching regression model of station decisions. We employ a binary probit choice model to study a station’s decision to enter a contract relationship with greater control from the upstream refinery, or a contract relationship with greater degree of independence, as a function of market and station characteristics. We then estimate stations’ pricing decisions with self-selectivity corrections for the station’s contract decision. We show that incorrect inferences about retail gasoline station’s pricing behavior would result if the endogeneity in the choice of con-tract type were treated as exogenous condition in the estimation.
Developing the Agro-Grassland System to Insure Food Security of China  [PDF]
Ruichao Li, Huilong Lin
Journal of Agricultural Chemistry and Environment (JACEN) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jacen.2014.33B002
Abstract:

China’s food security has always been the top priority in China. As the huge increase of animal food consumption, the current agriculture system in China namely “grain farming”, whose major animal feed are grains, seems to meet a great challenge to ensure China’s food security in the future. Not only the current situation, but also the production capacity as developing grassland agriculture is analyzed in this paper. The results show that half of provinces don’t have enough grain to meet their various needs for grain, and the whole country’s potential of grain yield is reaching a limited position. On the other hand, implementing cereal-forage rotation on 20% of the total arable land and developing high productivity sown pastures on 3% of the total rangeland areas could create approximately 1.2 times Arable Land Equivalent Unit (ALEU) than ever. So changing the traditional agriculture system into Grassland Agro-Ecosystems is an effective way to insure China’s food security. It includes utilization of rangeland rationally, establishment of more sown pasture and implementation of cereal-pasture rotation system, increase livestock production, and use of arable land more efficiently.

A New Filled Function with One Parameter to Solve Global Optimization  [PDF]
Hongwei Lin, Huirong Li
Open Journal of Optimization (OJOp) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojop.2015.41002
Abstract: In this paper, a new filled function with only one parameter is proposed. The main advantages of the new filled function are that it not only can be analyzed easily, but also can be approximated uniformly by a continuously differentiable function. Thus, a minimizer of the proposed filled function can be obtained easily by using a local optimization algorithm. The obtained minimizer is taken as the initial point to minimize the objective function and a better minimizer will be found. By repeating the above processes, we will find a global minimizer at last. The results of numerical experiments show that the new proposed filled function method is effective.
Study on Sichuan Opera Elements in “Ji Chun Tai”  [PDF]
Ruoxi Li, Lin Tian
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2018.65018
Abstract:
“Ji Chun Tai” is a collection of Huaben novels written by dissatisfied literati in Zhongjiang of Sichuan Province during the Guangxu Period of the Qing dynasty. It contains a large number of Sichuan Opera elements, which are mainly reflected in its structure and language. The structure of the 40 Huaben novels in “Ji Chun Tai” is divided into five parts, namely, the title, the beginning poem, the forewords, the main body and the ending, which is similar to the structure of the Sichuan Opera—opening words, the spoken parts, the libretto and the exit poetry. The language of “Ji Chun Tai” has many features of Sichuan Opera such as the use of Sichuan dialects, the singing of rhyme and libretto and the popularization of language.
Atypical Polypoid Adenomyomas of Uterus: A Clinicopathologic Study of 2 Cases  [PDF]
Xiao Lin, Yu Li
Journal of Biosciences and Medicines (JBM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jbm.2018.65003
Abstract:
Atypical polypoid Adenomyomas (APA) is a rare benign tumour in uterine. It is would distinguished from well-differentiated endometrial adenocarcinoma because of his histological features. We report 2 cases of 31-year-old and 33-year-old patient whose symptom were abnormal uterine bleeding. The mass was pedunculated with a narrow pedicle connecting to the pedunculated with a narrow pedicle connecting to the cervical; the other was in the uterine prolapse without pedicle. The surgical procedure was polypectomy only in all two patients with hysteroscopy. The histopathology showed the lesions were composed of a proliferation of irregular atypical endometrial glands separated by varying amounts of cellular smooth-muscle stroma. No mitotic activity was observed in the epithelial or mesenchymal elements in APA. The treatment of APA should depend on the age and reproductive desire of patient.
Polysemy and Enantiosemy: Mandarin Dui and Taiwanese Tui  [PDF]
Larry Hong Lin Li
Open Journal of Modern Linguistics (OJML) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ojml.2019.91004
Abstract: From a cognitive viewpoint, we compare Mandarin Dui and Taiwanese Tui by looking into their sense developments in the Dui/Tui + NOUN Construction. Dui and Tui are usually regarded as lexical equivalents across Mandarin and Taiwanese, two of the major languages spoken in Taiwan. Assuming with Lakoff (1987) that polysemy is a semantic network with radial categories, we adopt a metaphorical approach in our investigation. Through metaphorical extensions, Dui and Tui develop distinct routes to developing differing but related senses, forming differential semantic networks. Both Dui and Tui profile spatial-, eventive-, and communicative-domain senses. However, Taiwanese Tui, but not Mandarin Dui, encodes a temporal sense. Apart from polysemous expansion, we also address the enantiosemy arising in the “to” and “from” senses attached to Taiwanese Tui. The findings of our study offer insight into the nature of polysemy as well as the lexical differentiation across Mandarin and Taiwanese.
Random Attractor Family for the Kirchhoff Equation of Higher Order with White Noise  [PDF]
Guoguang Lin, Zhuoxi Li
Advances in Pure Mathematics (APM) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/apm.2019.94018
Abstract: The existence of random attractor family for a class of nonlinear high-order Kirchhoff equation stochastic dynamical systems with white noise is studied. The Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process and the weak solution of the equation are used to deal with the stochastic terms. The equation is transformed into a general stochastic equation. The bounded stochastic absorption set is obtained by estimating the solution of the equation and the existence of the random attractor family is obtained by isomorphic mapping method. Temper random compact sets of random attractor family are obtained.
The Relationship between Stress and Counterproductive Work Behavior: Attachment Orientation as a Moderate  [PDF]
Lin Ma, Wenli Li
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2019.74033
Abstract: The dissertation is based on the stressor-emotion model, and creatively adopting attachment orientation as a moderator. This paper analyzes the sample data by issuing 400 questionnaires and then using SPSS22.0. The results show that work stress can positively predict the Counterproductive Work Behavior of employees. Attachment avoidance can moderate the relationship between work stress and CWB, and attachment anxiety has significant effect on the relationship between work stress and CWB. Research shows that the pressure in the workplace can not only cause employees’ Counterproductive Work Behavior, but also cause negative affectivity of employees, which further leads to Counterproductive Work Behavior of employees, while attachment avoidance can effectively regulate the positive pressure of work stress. Therefore, to some extent, the possibility of anti-production behavior can be reduced.

Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2009, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2009.24034
Abstract: In the course of rapid economic development, high-tech small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are gradually playing an important role, which become important support to regional economic growth and science and technology development. So SMEs growth becomes a universal problem. And how to evaluate the SMEs growth becomes an important step, especially to high-tech SMEs growth. In this paper, catastrophe theory and improved principal components projection method are used and a mutation series of high-tech SMEs growth evaluation index system is built. Taking Dalian high-tech SMEs as an example, high-tech SMEs growth is evaluated, which contributes to high-tech SMEs growth forecast and government to formulate policies to support high-tech SMEs development.
