A Plasmid vector encoding functional human keratinocyte growth factor gene in vitro—Functional human KGF gene expression in vitro  [PDF]
Lin Qiu, Chunbao Guo
Journal of Biophysical Chemistry (JBPC) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jbpc.2010.11008
Abstract: In this study, we cloned human KGF (hKGF) genes using RT-PCR techniques and developed a eukaryotic expression plasmid vector capable of directing the expression of functional hKGF. Monolayer culture of human embryo lung fibro-blast (HLF) was used for isolation of total RNA. Then the total RNA was purified and reverse- transcribed into cDNA using an oligo (dT) primer. A full PCR fragment for hKGF was generated and cloned. Restriction digestion and nucleo-tide sequence analysis validated the complete hKGF transcription. The hKGF cDNA fragment was inserted into pEGFP-C2 vector by means of recombinant DNA technology and verified by restriction analysis and sequencing. We have constructed pEGFP-C2-hKGF encoding the green fluorescent protein (GFP). Furthermore, hKGF had the effect on AEC II proliferation. These results suggest that the potential appli-cation of a hKGF plasmid of gene expression should be useful for sustained AEC proliferation, and its in vivo efficacy needs to be validated. Keywords:
Ratio Analysis of J Sainsbury plc Financial Performance between 2015 and 2018 in Comparison with Tesco and Morrisons  [PDF]
Lin Guo, Zhen Wang
American Journal of Industrial and Business Management (AJIBM) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ajibm.2019.92022
Abstract: Financial ratio analysis is an analysis of a company’s financial statements, and it is vital for identifying negative and positive trends of a business over time. This article sets out to provide a detailed analysis of the financial performance of J Sainsbury plc and compare it with the performance of Tesco and Morrisons. From the data analysis, it can be shown that from 2015, the financial performance of J Sainsbury plc is improving with an increasing trend in its sales revenue and gross margin, while there is a decreasing trend in its return on assets (ROA), operating profit, pretax profit margin, finance cost and net profit. Compared to the other two companies in the same industry like Tesco and Morrisons, the performance of J Sainsbury plc is somewhat satisfactory. Finally, some recommendations on financial aspects, business environment and strategies are offered to enhance J Sainsbury plc’s performance and promote its sustainable development.
Traveling Wave Solutions for Integro-Difference Systems
Guo Lin
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: This paper is concerned with the traveling wave solutions for integro-difference systems of higher order. By using Schauder fixed point theorem, the existence of traveling wave solutions is reduced to the existence of generalized upper and lower solutions. Then the asymptotic behavior of traveling wave solutions is studied by the idea of contracting rectangles. To illustrate our results, the traveling wave solutions of three systems are considered, which completes some known results.
Asymptotic Spreading Fastened by Inter-Specific Coupled Nonlinearities: a Cooperative System
Guo Lin
Mathematics , 2010, DOI: 10.1016/j.physd.2011.12.007
Abstract: This paper is concerned with the asymptotic spreading of a Lotka-Volterra cooperative system. By using the theory of asymptotic spreading of nonautonomous equations, the asymptotic speeds of spreading of unknown functions formulated by a coupled system are estimated. Our results imply that the asymptotic spreading of one species can be significantly fastened by introducing a mutual species, which indicates the role of cooperation described by the coupled nonlinearities.
FPGA implementation of fractal patterns classifier for multiple cardiac arrhythmias detection  [PDF]
Chia-Hung Lin, Guo-Wei Lin
Journal of Biomedical Science and Engineering (JBiSE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jbise.2012.53016
Abstract: This paper proposes the fractal patterns classifier for multiple cardiac arrhythmias on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) device. Fractal dimension transformation (FDT) is employed to adjoin the fractal features of QRS-complex, including the supraventricular ectopic beat, bundle branch ectopic beat, and ventricular ectopic beat. FDT with fractal dimension (FD) is addressed for constructing various symptomatic patterns, which can produce family functions and enhance features, making clear differences between normal and unhealthy subjects. The probabilistic neural network (PNN) is proposed for recognizing multiple cardiac arrhythmias. Numerical experiments verify the efficiency and higher accuracy with the software simulation in order to formulate the mathematical model logical circuits. FDT results in data self-similarity for the same arrhythmia category, the number of dataset requirement and PNN architecture can be reduced. Its simplified model can be easily embedded in the FPGA chip. The prototype classifier is tested using the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database, and the tests reveal its practicality for monitoring ECG signals.
A Study of the Website Performance of Travel Agencies Based on the EMICA Model  [PDF]
Derong LIN, Zongqing ZHOU, Xiaolin GUO
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2009, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2009.23021
Abstract: Recent developments in information technologies (ITs), in particular the popularity of the Internet in the early 1990s, have changed the way that tourism businesses communicate with its customers and the way that promotion and sales of tourism products are conducted. Travel agencies with established websites are in a position to undertake productive marketing activities. This paper uses the extended Model of Internet Commerce Adoption (eMICA) to evaluate the web-site performance of travel agencies in China, with some modifications of the model for the purpose of the study. The results showed that travel agencies in China were not utilizing the Internet to its full potential, particularly in terms of marketing using its websites. Suggestions and recommendations are also provided based on the findings of this re-search.

Zhaoqin Yuan, Liang Guo, Guoguang Lin
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/am.2015.64068
Abstract: In this paper, firstly, some priori estimates are obtained for the existence and uniqueness of solu-tions of a two dimensional generalized magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) system. Then the existence of the global attractor is proved. Finally, the upper bound estimation of the Hausdorff and fractal dimension of attractor is got.

Liang Guo, Zhaoqin Yuan, Guoguang Lin
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/am.2015.65076
Abstract: In this paper, we consider an initial-boundary value problem for a nonlinear viscoelastic wave equation with strong damping, nonlinear damping and source terms. We proved a blow up result for the solution with negative initial energy if p > m, and a global result for pm.
