Adaptability of Polymer-Containing Sewage Corrosion Inhibitor  [PDF]

Abstract:
The polymer content in the produced water from Tuoliu Station is about 20 mg/L. Cationic imidazoline-type corrosion inhibitor is used to corrosion control of sewage. The corrosion inhibitor can react with the negatively charged materials such as anionic polymer and suspended substance by adsorption and merging to form complex aggregates, so that the suspended solids content increases, resulting in suspended solids content of exported sewage has been high. So a new type of non-ionic corrosion inhibitor has been developed and field trials have been performed. The results show that non-ionic corrosion inhibitor can effectively reduce the suspended solids content of wastewater while ensuring the corrosion rate of wastewater.
The Distribution and Morphology Alterations of Microfilaments and Microtubules in Mesophyll Cells and Root-Tip Cells of Wheat Seedlings under Enhanced Ultraviolet-B Radiation  [PDF]

Abstract:
The distribution and morphology alterations of microfilaments and microtubules in the mesophyll cells and root-tip cells of wheat seedlings, which had been radiated by enhanced ultraviolet-B (10.08 KJ·m-2·d-1), were examined through the confocal laser scanning microscope (Model FV1000, Olympus, Japan). Microtubule was labeled with an indirect immunofluorescence staining method, and microfilament was labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate-phalloidin (FITC-Ph) as probes. The results indicated that microtubules in mesophyll cells, compared with the controls, would be depolymerized significantly, and dispersed randomly showing some spots or short rods in the cytoplasm, under the enhanced UV-B radiation condition. The microtubule bundles tended to be diffused, and the fluorescence intensity of that significantly decreased. The distribution pattern of microfilaments, which usually arranged parallelly in control cells, was broken up by enhanced UV-B radiation. We further investigated the distribution and morphology of microtubules in root-tip cells during every stage of cell division, and found that these aberrant phenomena of microtubules were often associated with abnormal cell division. Our findings suggested that the distribution, morphology and structure of cytoskeleton in mesophyll cells and root-tip cells of wheat seedlings would be affected by enhanced UV-B radiation, which might be related to abnormal cell division caused by enhanced UV-B radiation as an extracellular signal.

Abstract: Most present studies on the acoustic emission signals of rotating machinery are experiment-oriented, while few of them involve on-spot applications. In this study, a method of redundant second generation wavelet transform based on the principle of interpolated subdivision was developed. With this method, subdivision was not needed during the decomposition. The lengths of approximation signals and detail signals were the same as those of original ones, so the data volume was twice that of original signals; besides, the data redundancy characteristic also guaranteed the excellent analysis effect of the method. The analysis of the acoustic emission data from the faults of on-spot low-speed heavy-duty gears validated the redundant second generation wavelet transform in the processing and denoising of acoustic emission signals. Furthermore, the analysis illustrated that the acoustic emission testing could be used in the fault diagnosis of on-spot low-speed heavy-duty gears and could be a significant supplement to vibration testing diagnosis.
Effects of nitrogen addition on the abundance and composition of soil ammonia oxidizers in Inner Mongolia Grassland

Abstract: Nitrogen accumulation in soil is increasing in Inner Mongolia which is resulted mainly from fertilization accompanied by conversion of large area of grasslands to croplands. Ammonia-oxidation is the key step of nitrification which is driven by ammonia-oxidizing microorganisms, and study on the response of ammonia-oxidizing microorganisms is necessary for understanding the effects of nitrogen fertilization on ecosystem functions. In this study, the abundance and community structure of soil ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) under long-term N addition of different rates (0, 1.75, 5.25, 10.5, 17.5, and 28 g N m?2 yr?1) in a typical steppe of the Inner Mongolia Grassland were investigated using quantitative real-time PCR, cloning and sequencing based on amoA gene. In addition, soil potential ammonia oxidation rate was analyzed. Our results demonstrated that, with the increase of nitrogen addition rate, soil pH declined gradually from 6.6 to 4.9, and potential ammonia oxidation rate also declined which was positively correlated with soil pH (P < 0.01), while the copy number of bacterial amoA gene increased and positively (P < 0.01) correlated with ammonia concentration in soil. The archaeal amoA gene copy number did not change a lot with N nitrogen addition rate below 10.5 g N/m2, but significantly decreased with addition of 17.5 and 28 g N m?2 yr?1. Sequencing of clone libraries of treatments revealed that in the treatment without N addition, AOB was dominated by Cluster 3a1 of Nitrosospira with a proportion of 87%, while in the treatment with N addition of 28 g N m?2 yr?1, proportion of Cluster 2 increased significantly to 41%. All archaeal amoA sequences were affiliated with the soil/sediment clade, and no significant variation of community structure was found between the treatments without N addition and with 28 g N m?2 yr?1 addition rate. In conclusion, this study demonstrated significant effects of nitrogen addition on potential ammonia oxidation rate and compositions of ammonia-oxidation microorganisms, which may have important implications for evaluating the impacts of N accumulation on ecosystem functioning. Further, the effects of pH and ammonia concentration on the ammonia oxidation rate and compositions of ammonia-oxidation microorganisms were discussed.

Abstract: 哈沙图北超镁铁杂岩体位于华北克拉通西北缘,具小规模多岩相的特征,主要由蛇纹石化橄榄岩、橄榄二辉岩、角闪辉石岩、异剥辉石岩及石英闪长玢岩等组成的铁质超镁铁杂岩。岩体由两大系列岩石组成:第一系列岩石结晶粗大,具平坦型稀土元素分配模式,亏损Nb、Ta、Ti等高场强元素(HFSE)和Rb、Cs、Ba等大离子亲石元素(LILE),富集U和Rb,Zr,Hf及HREE等元素含量变化较大,为大陆地壳拉张环境下富集型岩石圈地幔较高程度熔融形成的岩浆经小规模分异后分期侵入原地结晶形成的,在每期岩浆结晶初期存在一定程度的堆晶作用。第二系列岩石呈致密太,磁铁矿含量较高,岩石风化表面呈黄褐色,亏损Rb、Cs、K、Ti,富集Nb、Ta、Pb、LREE,∑REE高,为初始洋壳下富集地幔较低程度熔融形成的岩浆结晶的产物。Nd同位素组成变化较小(^143Nd/^144Nd=0.5122-0.5124),两个系列岩石中分配系数相等的微量元素比值分别分布在两个区域,岩石地球化学特征表明,该岩体为一长寿命的岩浆通道中不同源区、不同构造环境中不同期岩浆的堆积物,岩浆源区为EM1型富集地幔;表明华北克拉通西北缘在古元古代以来存在长期的陆壳增生事件,经历了拉张减薄、初始洋壳演化阶段。
Lewis (y) Antigen Overexpression Increases the Expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 and Invasion of Human Ovarian Cancer Cells

Abstract: Lewis (y) antigen is a difucosylated oligosaccharide present on the plasma membrane, and its overexpression is frequently found in human cancers and has been shown to be associated with poor prognosis. Our previous studies have shown that Lewis (y) antigen plays a positive role in the process of invasion and metastasis of ovarian cancer cells. However, the mechanisms by which Lewis (y) antigen enhances the invasion and tumor metastasis are still unknown. In this study, we established a stable cell line constitutively expressing Lewis (y) antigen (RMG-1-hFUT) by transfecting the cDNA encoding part of the human α1,2-fucosyltransferase (α1,2-FUT) gene into the ovarian cancer cell line RMG-1, and investigated whether Lewis (y) antigen regulates the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and MMP-9, and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMP-1) and TIMP-2. We found that RMG-1-hFUT cells exhibited higher invasive capacities than their control cells. In addition, expression of TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 was down-regulated and expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 was up-regulated. Anti-Lewis (y) antigen antibody treatment significantly reversed the expression of TIMP-1, TIMP-2, MMP-2 and MMP-9. Taken together, we provide the first evidence that down-regulation of TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 and up-regulation of MMP-2 and MMP-9 represents one of the mechanisms by which Lewis (y) antigen promotes cell invasion.
Enhancive effects of Lewis y antigen on CD44-mediated adhesion and spreading of human ovarian cancer cell line RMG-I

Abstract: The expression of CD44 in RMG-I and RMG-I-H cells before and after treatment of Lewis y monoclonal antibody was detected by immunocytochemistry; the expression of Lewis y antigen and CD44 was detected by Western Blot. The structural relationship between Lewis y antigen and CD44 was determined by immunoprecipitation and confocal laser scanning microscopy. The adhesion and spreading of RMG-I and RMG-I-H cells on hyaluronic acid (HA) were observed. The expression of CD44 mRNA in RMG-I and RMG-I-H cells was detected by real-time RT-PCR.Immunocytochemistry revealed that the expression of CD44 was significantly higher in RMG-I-H cells than in RMG-I cells (P < 0.01), and its expression in both cell lines was significantly decreased after treatment of Lewis y monoclonal antibody (both P < 0.01). Western Blot confirmed that the content of CD44 in RMG-I-H cells was 1.46 times of that in RMG-I cells. The co-location of Lewis y antigen and CD44 was confirmed by co-immunoprecipitation. The co-expression of CD44 and Lewis y antigen in RMG-I-H cells was 2.24 times of that in RMG-I cells. The adhesion and spreading of RMG-I-H cells on HA were significantly enhanced as compared to those of RMG-I cells (P < 0.01), and this enhancement was inhibited by Lewis y monoclonal antibody (P < 0.01). Abstract: Objectives To measure Lewis y antigen and CD44 antigen expression in epithelial ovarian carcinoma and to correlate the levels of these antigens with clinical response to chemotherapy. Methods The study cases included 34 cases of ovarian carcinoma with resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs, 6 partially drug-sensitive cases, and 52 drug-sensitive cases (92 total). Results The rates of expression of Lewis y antigen and CD44 antigen were significantly greater in the drug-resistant group than that in the partially-sensitive or sensitive groups. Surgical stage, residual tumor size and expression of CD44 and Lewis y antigen in ovarian carcinoma tissues were independent risk factors for chemotherapeutic drug resistance. Conclusions Over-expression of Lewis y and CD44 antigen are strong risk factors for chemotherapeutic drug resistance in ovarian carcinoma patients.
First Excursion Probabilities of Non-Linear Dynamical Systems by Importance Sampling

Abstract: This paper suggests a procedure to estimate first excursion probabilities for non-linear dynamical systems subjected to Gaussian excitation. The approach is based on the mean up-crossing rate and importance sampling method. Firstly, by using of Poisson assumption and Rice formula, the equivalent linear system is carried out. The linearization principle is that non-linear and linear systems have the same up-crossing rate for a specified threshold. Secondly, an importance sampling technique is used in order to estimate excursion probabilities for the equivalent linear system. The variance of the failure probability estimates, the number of samples and the computational time are reduced significantly compared with direct Monte Carlo simulations.
