Evaluation of cutting forces and prediction of chatter vibrations in milling

Abstract: the prediction of chatter vibrations between the cutter and workpiece is important as a guidance to the machine tool user for an optimal selection of depth of cut and spindle rotation, resulting in maximum chip removal rate without this undesirable vibration. this can be done by some approaches. in this work, an analytical method is applied in which the time-varying directional dynamic milling forces coefficients are expanded in fourier series and integrated in the width of cut bound by entry and exit angles. the forces in the contact zone between cutter and workpiece during the cut are evaluated by an algorithm using a mathematical model derived from several experimental tests with a dynamometer located between the workpiece and machine table. the algorithm results depend of the physical properties of the workpiece material and the cutter geometry. the modal parameters of the machine-workpiece-tool system like natural frequencies, damping and residues must also be identified experimentally. at this point, it is possible to plot the stability lobes to this dynamic system. these curves relates the spindle speed with axial depth of cut, separating stable and unstable areas, allowing the selection of cutting parameters resulting maximum productivity, with acceptable surface roughness and absence of chatter vibrations. experimental face milling tests were performed in a knee-type machine, using a five inserts cutter. the results showed perfect agreement between chatter prediction and experimental tests.

Síntese e caracteriza??o de copolímeros do tipo ABA para encapsula??o de hemoglobina bovina
Lima, Felipe F.;Andrade, Cristina T.;
Química Nova , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422012000500017
Abstract: the use of biopolymers for the development of oxygen carriers has been extensively investigated. in this work, three different aba triblock copolymers were synthesized and used to encapsulate purified bovine hemoglobin, using a double emulsion technique. the effect of polymer composition, homogenization velocity, and addition of a surfactant, on the protein entrapment was evaluated. these copolymers, which have a hydrophilic block, achieved higher values of encapsulation efficiency than the corresponding homopolymers. the increase in homogenization strength also promoted an increase in encapsulation efficiency. capsules formation occurred even in the absence of pva.

Abstract: the use of water or soil with a high salt concentration has been the main cause of failure in the yield of many crops. consequently, this work aimed at evaluating the effects of different salinity levels and soil moisture on onion yield (cultivar baia periforme). an experiment was conducted in a greenhouse of the soil science department - fca - unesp, botucatu, sp, in pots of 10 l. the soil was salinized with nacl in order to increase the electrical condutivity of saturation extract of soil from 0.13 to 2; 4; 6 and 8 ds m-1. in each experimental unit 15.2 g of thermophosphate enriched by micronutrients and 1.5 l of organic matter were incorporated. the moisture treatments kept the soil within the limits of 25-50, 50-75 and 75-100 % of field capacity. the plant height the pseudostem diameter and yield of bulbs were evaluated. the results lead to the conclusion that the salinity reduced the vegetative growth and the yield of onion bulbs. moisture treatment influenced both the diameter and weight of bulbs. the water consumption of the plants decreased with increassing soil salt concentration.

Abstract: the clear and objective evaluation of nasal patency has been reason for investigation for more than 100 years. the development of trustworthy objective methods of measure has been slow, and even with some attempts, none has been generallly accepted, remaining for the majority of the rhinologists the diagnoses based on clinical history and on rhinoscopy. acoustics rhinometry is a technique to measure the relation between the transversal area and the distance of the nasal cavity. aim: to study the nasal patency through acoustics rhinometry in regular patients. study design: clinical prospective. material and method: we evaluated twenty patients aged 16 to 60. all of them underwent acoustics rhinometry examination before and after nasal decongestion, and the measures of mca (minimum transversal area) and the distance have been analyzed. results: average values of mca 0,59 before and 0.60 after decongestion were found. conclusion: we concluded that acoustics rhinometry is an objective, simple, fast, reproducible, trustworthy, non-invasive method diagnostic for evaluation of nasal patency in patients with chronic nasal obstruction.

The new content of Bolivia's laws and politicies provide an interesting aperture to indigenous people. In this context, the community roles within an archaeological project become more important. Participation of local populations is not bound by the daily tasks of field work used to that be done. Actually, the researcher can consider them as truly institutional counterparts. Some of the ways to encourage this process is: to diffuse the archaeological information and creating as strategies of sustainability through tourism. Tsallis statistics with normalized q-expectation values is thermodynamically stable: illustrations

Abstract: We present a study of both the ``Iterative Procedure'' and the ``$\beta \to \beta'$ transformation'', proposed by Tsallis et al (Physica A261, 534) to find the probabilities $p_i$ of a system to be in a state with energy $\epsilon_i$, within the framework of a generalized statistical mechanics. Using stability and convexity arguments, we argue that the iterative procedure does not always provide the right temperature dependence of thermodynamic observables. In addition, we show how to get the correct answers from the ``$\beta \to \beta'$ transformation''. Our results provide an evidence that the Tsallis statistics with normalized q-expectation values is stable for all ranges of temperatures. We also show that the cut-off in the computation of probabilities is required to achieve the stable solutions.
A process-reconstruction analysis of market fluctuations
R. Vilela Mendes,R. Lima,T. Araujo
Quantitative Finance , 2001,
Abstract: The statistical properties of a stochastic process may be described (1)by the expectation values of the observables, (2)by the probability distribution functions or (3)by probability measures on path space. Here an analysis of level (3) is carried out for market fluctuation processes. Gibbs measures and chains with complete connections are considered. Some other topics are also discussed, in particular the asymptotic stationarity of the processes and the behavior of statistical indicators of level (1) and (2). We end up with some remarks concerning the nature of the market fluctuation process.
