Visentin, Angelita;Labronici, Liliana;Lenardt, Maria Helena;
Acta Paulista de Enfermagem , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-21002007000400021
Abstract: the growth of the senior population in brazil and in the world poses new challenges for the health professionals, and among those, the increase of the number of chronic diseases, especially cancer. within the practice of his/her work, the nurse faces countless situations that generate dilemmas and ethical questions that involve the patient and/or his/her family. we aim at contemplating the senior's right of knowing his/her diagnosis and the respect to his/her autonomy. such reflection is considered significant because the action of taking care, intrinsic in the nursing actions, should be ruled by ethical attitudes and in respect to the patient's right in knowing his/her diagnosis.

Almeida,Maria Rita de Cassia Barreto de; Labronici,Liliana Maria;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232007000100030
Abstract: the emergence of aids as a social and historical phenomenon has brought along with it specters held in social imagination, aggravating the concept of plague, generating strong feelings and prejudice, becoming a stigma. such factors ultimately affect hiv bearers' well being. thus, this study aims to understand the dimension of the problem of hiv bearers who have not seeked treatment in the national health system and the reasons which make this search so difficult. the adopted methodological approach was thematic oral accounts. five hiv bearers collaborated in this study. by using content analysis, we observed that the study participants do not go to health units near their homes fearing to be identified, especially since they know they will certainly meet people from their neighborhood at the health units who do not know about their hiv diagnosis. because of this fear, they anticipate they will suffer discrimination and stigmatization - due to the disease's social significance - and so, to protect themselves, they choose a secrecy that keeps them from trusting anyone and from seeking health care, thus increasing their personal suffering and vulnerability to develop aids.

Labronici, Liliana Maria;Fegadoli, Débora;Correa, Maria Eduarda Cavadinha;
Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da USP , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0080-62342010000200023
Abstract: this phenomenological study aimed at understanding the meaning of sexual abuse in the manifestation of corporeity. it was performed at an outpatient clinic for victims of sexual abuse from a teaching hospital in curitiba/ brazil, from february to may of year 2007. the statements were obtained by means of recorded open interviews performed with nine women. the analysis resulted in the following theme: living with fear in the process of co-existence. it was evidenced that fear influenced those women's social life, brought about insecurity, affected their being and their being in the world and, consequently, their corporeity. health professionals must be qualified to perceive women victims of social abuse in their multidimensionality so the care they deliver are not merely instrumental, rather expressive, that is, subjectively-oriented. thus, they will be able to help those victims transcend their experience and find a new meaning to their existence, and care delivery will be humanized, ethical and sympathetic.

Correa, Maria Eduarda Cavadinha;Labronici, Liliana Maria;Trigueiro, Tatiane Herreira;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692009000300002
Abstract: this phenomenological study aimed to reveal the meaning of providing care to victims of sexual violence. the study was carried out from december 2006 to march 2007 with 12 health professionals. data were collected through tape-recorded semi-structured interviews, whose analysis followed the phenomenological trajectory. the following theme emerged: feeling powerless, a feeling expressed by caregivers of sexual violence victims. the feeling of powerlessness is continuously fed by health professionals' daily routines, given the impossibility of solving situations of violence, of problems that emerge from the other's subjectivity, as well as social issues, because these professionals were not trained for that. thus, it is essential to address the issue both in undergraduate and graduate programs in health and human areas. institutions should promote continuing education so that these professionals can act properly.

Online Brazilian Journal of Nursing , 2006,
Abstract: This is a case study of phenomenological orientation whose objective was to understand the conflict experienced by the smoking body in the face of the desire or the need to discontinue the use of cigarettes and the wish to continue smoking. Seven smoking bodies attending Caixa de Assistência dos Funcionários do Banco do Brasil’s (CASSI’s) “Life without Cigarettes” program in Curitiba were followed. This program was based on three moments of care: the perception, the new knowledge construction and the implementation of the nursing actions, adapted to the Ministry of Health’s assistance model. For the comprehension of the phenomenon, three categories emerged. The passage ritual, affective longing and insecurity and fear of change. The adaptation of the model of assistance proposed by the Ministry of Health to the moments of care reference was found to provide professional growth and enrichment, which in turn, made it possible to help these smoking bodies to experience the conflicting internal moment between the desire to stop and the wish to continue smoking which resulted in a new nursing care practice which combines the incentive for a pro-active change through motivation with the philosophical process of reflexion and interation.
