Facile Synthesis of Polypyrrole/Titanate Core-Shell Nanorods and Their Electrorheological Characteristics  [PDF]

Abstract: In this work, polypyrrole (PPy)/titanate (TN) composite nanorods were successfully synthesized using cetyl trimethyl-ammonium bromide (CTAB) as a structure-directing agent by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization. The structural characterization indicated that the new composite rods were core (TN)-shell (PPy) nanostructure with the average diameter in the range of 250-300 nm. Further, this semiconducting composite can be used as a dispersed phase in silicone oil for a new electrorheological (ER) fluid, and its ER behavior was investigated under steady and oscillatory shear. It was found that the PPy/TN fluid showed typical ER characteristics under an external electric field.
The completion of optimal $(3,4)$-packings

Abstract: A 3-$(n,4,1)$ packing design consists of an $n$-element set $X$ and a collection of $4$-element subsets of $X$, called {\it blocks}, such that every $3$-element subset of $X$ is contained in at most one block. The packing number of quadruples $d(3,4,n)$ denotes the number of blocks in a maximum $3$-$(n,4,1)$ packing design, which is also the maximum number $A(n,4,4)$ of codewords in a code of length $n$, constant weight $4$, and minimum Hamming distance 4. In this paper the undecided 21 packing numbers $A(n,4,4)$ are shown to be equal to Johnson bound $J(n,4,4)$ $( =\lfloor\frac{n}{4}\lfloor\frac{n-1}{3}\lfloor\frac{n-2}{2}\rfloor\rfloor\rfloor)$ where $n=6k+5$, $k\in \{m:\ m$ is odd, $3\leq m\leq 35,\ m\neq 17,21\}\cup \{45,47,75,77,79,159\}$.
New families of optimal frequency hopping sequence sets

Abstract: Frequency hopping sequences (FHSs) are employed to mitigate the interferences caused by the hits of frequencies in frequency hopping spread spectrum systems. In this paper, we present some new algebraic and combinatorial constructions for FHS sets, including an algebraic construction via the linear mapping, two direct constructions by using cyclotomic classes and recursive constructions based on cyclic difference matrices. By these constructions, a number of series of new FHS sets are then produced. These FHS sets are optimal with respect to the Peng-Fan bounds.
Frequency hopping sequences with optimal partial Hamming correlation

Abstract: Frequency hopping sequences (FHSs) with favorable partial Hamming correlation properties have important applications in many synchronization and multiple-access systems. In this paper, we investigate constructions of FHSs and FHS sets with optimal partial Hamming correlation. We first establish a correspondence between FHS sets with optimal partial Hamming correlation and multiple partition-type balanced nested cyclic difference packings with a special property. By virtue of this correspondence, some FHSs and FHS sets with optimal partial Hamming correlation are constructed from various combinatorial structures such as cyclic difference packings, and cyclic relative difference families. We also describe a direct construction and two recursive constructions for FHS sets with optimal partial Hamming correlation. As a consequence, our constructions yield new FHSs and FHS sets with optimal partial Hamming correlation.

Abstract: A continuous melt suspension crystallization process has been presented for the purification of the phosphoric acid in this study, which is performed in the cascade of a mixed suspension mixed product removal (MSMPR) crystallizer and a gravity wash column for the subsequent solid-liquid separation. Dynamic behavior in the crystallizer and role of reflux ration on the purification efficiency of column are studied in detail. A reasonable steady state with respect to the liquid phase is achieved after 2 to 3 hrs, which is followed by a solid-phase steady state in terms of the slurry density after 4 hrs. Reflux ratio is the effective parameter for separation and purification by the crystallization equipment from the influences of reflux ratio on the purity of product, the number of theoretical plates and the stability of the operations.
Combinatorial Constructions of Optimal $(m, n,4,2)$ Optical Orthogonal Signature Pattern Codes

Abstract: Optical orthogonal signature pattern codes (OOSPCs) play an important role in a novel type of optical code-division multiple-access (CDMA) network for 2-dimensional image transmission. There is a one-to-one correspondence between an $(m, n, w, \lambda)$-OOSPC and a $(\lambda+1)$-$(mn,w,1)$ packing design admitting an automorphism group isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}_m\times \mathbb{Z}_n$. In 2010, Sawa gave the first infinite class of $(m, n, 4, 2)$-OOSPCs by using $S$-cyclic Steiner quadruple systems. In this paper, we use various combinatorial designs such as strictly $\mathbb{Z}_m\times \mathbb{Z}_n$-invariant $s$-fan designs, strictly $\mathbb{Z}_m\times \mathbb{Z}_n$-invariant $G$-designs and rotational Steiner quadruple systems to present some constructions for $(m, n, 4, 2)$-OOSPCs. As a consequence, our new constructions yield more infinite families of optimal $(m, n, 4, 2)$-OOSPCs. Especially, we shall see that in some cases an optimal $(m, n, 4, 2)$-OOSPC can not achieve the Johnson bound.
Research on the Geological Sourcing of Raohe Honey by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry with Primary Composite Analysis and Forecasting Models  [PDF]

Abstract: Raohe honey (Honey in Raohe) is the only product which has obtained China’s national geographical mark for honey; however, it is always counterfeited by some producers due to its excellent quality. In this research, Raohe honey was identified by geographical sourcing, where the detection on 166 Raohe honey samples and 31 non-Raohe honey samples was conducted with Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). Additionally, the method of Primary Composite Analysis accomplished dimensionality reduction by transforming the abundance ratios variables of 13 isotopes to 4 primary composites, and could explain 91.17% of the total variables. There were five models: Decision Tree, Naive Bayes, Neural Network, Partial Least Square Discriminate and Support Vector Machine, built on the four new variables of primary composites with the Agilent MPP Software. The validation of the models was performed with 11 Raohe honey samples and 5 non-Raohe honey samples randomly selected. The accuracies of the Decision Tree and Support Vector Machine models were both 93.97%, and those of the Naive Bayes and Neural Network models were both 87.5%, while the contribution rate of the Partial Least Square Discriminate model was only 75%. It was concluded that the Decision Tree and Support Vector Machine models could be used for indentifying Raohe honey, and the Naive Bayes and Neural Network models could work as references, while the Partial Least Square Discriminate model was not suitable for identifying Raohe honey.

Abstract: In accordance with the Seismo-Geothermics theory about methods of intracrustal strong earthquake and volcano prediction, we use the ANSS earthquake catalogue from the Northern California earthquake data center and the EMSC earthquake catalogue from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre to study the seismic activities of the Turkish Branch Seismic Cone in the Mediterranean Seismic Cone and the following Aegean Sea Seismic Cone, and show reproduction through graphics and animation, the seismogenic process and seismogenic mechanism of the earthquake Mw6.9 on May 24,2014 innorthern Aegean Sea. It was concluded that the energy of strong earthquake of magnitude around7 inAegean Seawas probably from energy transfer and accumulation in deep mantle and incentive lithosphere in the way of wave pattern, and then the strong earthquake occurs suddenly in search of the weak parts of the surface structure. The purpose of this paper is to open a hole in the traditional seismic genesis, and it is beneficial to the further research on the theory and method of earthquake prediction. It is our first attempt to study this case and it needs further examination. In this paper, we divide the Turkish Branch Seismic Cone of the Mediterranean Seismic Cone into 4 tertiary seismic cones, and we show a preliminary seismo-tectonic model of Aegean region. It will be conducive to seismic monitoring and earthquake prediction research inGreece,Turkey,RomaniaandPolandregions. At present, the world’s earthquake prediction has little effect, and it even tends to be not cognitive. Innovative thinking is the only way out.
Supercapacitor-battery hybrid energy storage devices from an aqueous nitroxide radical active material

Abstract: A hybrid electrochemical energy storage device was fabricated in aqueous NaOH with the 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy (TEMPO) nitroxide radical as the active material, hydroquinone as the counter electrode active material, and an OH -selective separating membrane. The working principle of this device was investigated and it can be considered as a supercapacitor-battery hybrid energy storage system. Device performance was characterized by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge testing. When using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as electrode support materials, a high pseudo-capacitance of 1280 F g 1 was obtained with the TEMPO nitroxide radical as the active material at a 1 mV s 1 scan rate. This was ~33 times larger than the inherent double layer capacitance of MWCNTs. The electrode material and active material dissolved in solution could potentially be substituted with similar materials. This simple design provides a new approach for fabricating high performance supercapacitor-battery hybrid energy storage devices.

Abstract: Opal hydrogels could be synthesized with polymer inverse opal template. A pH responsive opal N-isopropylacrylamide/acrylic acid copolymerized hydrogel was prepared as an example. The ordered structure and response to pH were investigated. Through the sol-gel process of tetrabutyl titanate, opal titania was obtained with the opal hydrogel template.
