Estudios y perspectivas en turismo , 2009,
Abstract: the aim of this case study was to discuss if the recent process of turistification has influenced the daily life of the residents of s?o bartolomeu, district of ouro preto (mina gerais), brazil, and if the growth of tourism has given a new shape to the spatial, territorial and symbolic environment. therefore, a qualitative study was undertaken by means of data collection using participative observation and interviews interpreted as a tool of the discourse analysis. the main items here presented are the tourist [des] territorialization and the environmental perception. this study has shown that the process of turistification in the district has changed aspects of every day life that can be seen from the perceptions locals have of their environment.

Estudios y perspectivas en turismo , 2009,
Abstract: Este estudio de caso fue realizado en S o Bartolomeu, distrito de Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais) y el objetivo principal fue discutir la manera en que el reciente proceso de turistificación ha influido en la vida cotidiana de sus habitantes. Asimismo, se quiso determinar la forma en que el crecimiento del turismo en S o Bartolomeu provocó la reconfiguración espacial, territorial y simbólica del medioambiente local. Por lo tanto, se realizó una investigación cualitativa recolectando datos a través de la observación participante y la entrevista que fue interpretada con herramientas de análisis del discurso. Los principales temas que aquí se presentan son la [des]territorialización turística y la percepción ambiental. A partir de este estudio se entendió que el proceso de turistificación en el distrito abarcado reconfigura aspectos de lo cotidiano reflejados en las percepciones ambientales de los sujetos. Silva, Gisele Rodrigues da;Lages, Gustavo Portela;Pianetti, Gerson Ant?nio;Nunan, Elzíria de Aguiar;Soares, Cristina Duarte Vianna;Campos, Ligia Maria Moreira de;
Química Nova , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422006000600002
Abstract: a high performance liquid chromatography method was developed to quantify lamivudine, stavudine and nevirapine combined in tablets. the separation was carried out in less than 10 min using a phosphate buffer of ph 3.0 and acetonitrile (75:25, v/v) as mobile phase, a lichrospher ods column and uv detection at 266 nm. the method was linear over the range of 15-135 μg/ml (lamivudine), 4-36 μg/ml (stavudine) and 20-180 μg/ml (nevirapine). the accuracy ranged from 98.56 to 102.04% and intra-day and inter-day precision was less than 1% for the three drugs. the method showed robustness, remaining unaffected by deliberate variations in relevant parameters.

Revista Brasileira de Ciências Farmacêuticas , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-93322007000300010
Abstract: glibenclamide (glib) or glyburide, a second-generation hypoglycemic agent is used per oral as tablets for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. much variabilility in the treatment may occur because of the low drug aqueous solubility in tablets dosage forms. this work reports the comparison of several pilot formulation batches with the commercial reference drug dosage form (daonil?, glibenclamide 5 mg per tablet, aventis pharma ltda.). a feasible dissolution test, developed with no use of organic solvents or surfactants in the medium, showed to be discriminative regarding to different formulations tested. glib quantitation was performed by a previously validated reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography (rp-hplc). among several dissolution profiles compared with that of a commercial reference, a potential for a generic candidate was evident (f1 4.04 and f2 69.35) for a proposed solid dosage formulation in the brazilian market.

Abstract: the use of herbal products and supplements based on isoflavone dry extracts has increased considerably in the last decade, mainly due to beneficial effects to relief of the menopausal symptoms credited to those compounds. genistein, daidzein and glycitein are the most abundant isoflavone aglycones found in soy extract, where they also occur as glycosides. concerning their uses, there is neither standardization regarding the minimum content of each aglycone in the extracts or capsules, nor an official method to the quality control of these products. the present work presents a tlc method for qualitative analysis of the three aglycones and their glycosides in extracts and capsules of isoflavones, before and after acid hydrolysis. the quantitative analysis of the isoflavone capsules, carried out by high performance liquid chromatography (hplc), showed high variation in the content of the three aglycones, after acid hydrolysis. the contents varied in the following way, in the 18 batches of evaluated capsules: daidzein (13.34 to 76.20 mg/capsule), genistein (0.61 to 27.18 mg/capsule) and glycitein (0.49 to 8.80 mg/capsule).

Abstract: introduction: dengue is a public health problem in brazil and worldwide. objective: to determine dengue seropositivity of patients from sus specialty laboratory by correlating the results with socio-demographic data. methods: one hundred and eighty-four questionnaires on socio-demographic assessment and dengue transmission awareness were filled out. enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (elisa) method was performed for the detection of igm and igg antibodies against dengue virus. results: fifteen percent of patients had igg against dengue virus without the presence of igm. conclusion: all patients showed disease and prevention awareness regardless of their socio-economic background. the asymptomatic infection must be evaluated mainly in cases of disease with fever.

César, Isabela da Costa;Braga, Fern?o Castro;Vianna-Soares, Cristina Duarte;Nunan, Elzíria de Aguiar;Pianetti, Gérson Ant?nio;Moreira-Campos, Ligia Maria;
Química Nova , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422008000800003
Abstract: this paper describes the development and validation of an uv-visible spectrophotometric method for quantitation of genistein and genistin in soy dry extracts, after reaction with aluminum chloride. the method showed to be linear (r2= 0.9999), precise (r.s.d. < 2%), accurate (recovery of 101.56%) and robust. seven samples of soy dry extracts were analyzed by the spectrophotometric validated method and by rp-hplc. genistein concentrations determined by spectrophotometry (0.63% - 16.05%) were slightly higher than values obtained by hplc analysis (0.40% - 12.79%); however, the results of both methods showed a strong correlation.
