Abstract: The dilatometer method for density measurement of liquid metals was improved to give a high measurement accuracy with simple operation. The density of liquid tin was measured and the results are in agreement with values in literature. The melting point density of liquid Sn was measured to be 6.966×103 Kg·m-3 and the temperature (T) dependence of the density (ρ) for liquid Sn can be well described by a polynomial equation ρ(T)=7.406 - 9.94 × 10-4T 2.12 × 10-7T2.

Abstract: The effect of a sputtered Ti-48Al-8Cr-2Ag (at. pct) coating on the oxidation resistance of the cast Ti-46.5Al-5Nb (at. pct) alloy was investigated in air at 1000~1100℃. Hot corrosion in molten 75 wt pct Na2SO4 25 wt pct K2SO4 was investigated at 900℃. The scale on the cast TiAlNb tends to spall in air, while the scale on coating is very adherent. The sputtered Ti-48Al-8Cr-2Ag coating remarkably improved high temperature oxidation resistance of the cast Ti-46.5Al-5Nb alloy because of the formation of an adherent Al2O3 scale. Due to the inward diffusion of Cr,Kirkendall voids were found at the coating/substrate interface. TiAlCrAg coating provided excellent hot corrosion resistance for TiAlNb alloy in molten 75 wt pct Na2SO4 25 wt pct K2SO4 at 900℃ due to the formation of a continuous Al2O3 scale.

Abstract: The results of molecular dynamics calculations on the interfacial energies and atomic structures of Ag/Ni and Cu/Ni interaces are presented. Calculation on Ag/Ni interfaces with low-index planes shows that those containing the (111) plane have the lowest energies, which is in agreement with the experiments. Comparing surface energy with interracial energy, it is found the order of the interfacial energies of Ag/Ni and Cu/Ni containing the planes fall in the same order as solid-vapor surface energies of Ag, Cu and Ni. In this MD simulation, the relaxed atomic structure and dislocation network of (110)Ag||(110)Ni interface are coincident to HREM observations.

Abstract: The Mg65Cu25Y10 melts were quenched at a temperature of 973 K under various pressures in the range of 2~5 GPa and ambient pressure. The microstructure of the solidified specimens has been investigated by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscope and electron probe microanalysis. Experimental results show that the pressure has a great influence on the solidification microstructure of the Mg65Cu25Y10. At ambient pressure, the solidification products are Mg2(Cu,Y) and a very small amount of Y2O3 inclusion. As the pressure is above 2 GPa, a new Cu2(Y,Mg) phase appears, while Y2O3 is not observed at the pressure of 3, 4 and 5 GPa. When the pressure increases from 2 GPa to 5 GPa, the grain sizes of Mg2(Cu,Y) and Cu2(Y,Mg) decrease from 125, 96 nm to 80,7 nm, respectively. The mechanisms for the effects of the pressure on the phase evolution and microstructure during solidification process of Mg65Cu25Y10 alloy have been discussed.

Abstract: The effect of Pd addition on the glass-forming ability and thermal stability of the Zr5sAl10Cus0Nis-xPdx (x=0, 1, 3,5 at. Pct) alloys upon copper-mold casting has been investigated. The structure, thermal stability and microstructure were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. It was identified that a new bulk amorphous alloy with the larger supercooled liquid region Atx of 100 K is obtained with substituting Ni by 1 at. Pct Pd. Furthermore, the origins that thermal stability and GFA change with increasing of Pd have also beer discussed.

Abstract: Sol - Gel processing is one of the simplest techniques for preparation of compound coatings. Continuous coatings of SiO2Al2O3ZrO2 and their compounds can be prepared by Sol - Gel process on different substrates. In this paper, the characters and principle of Sol - Gel process and the technological process of the Sol - Gel derived high temperature oxidation resistant coatings have been introduced systemically, and the disadvantages of this technique have also been pointed out. It is suggested that the adherence strength between the coatings and substrates and cracking of the coatings should be investigated emphatically in the future. And Si - C - N coating derived from a novel non ?oxide Sol ?Gel processing has been introduced briefly.

Abstract: The texture inhomogeneity in cross shear rolled grain oriented Si steel was investigated by means of the through thickness texture analysis. For the chosen rolling reductions (55%, 66.5%) and mismatch speed ratios (1.0, 1.1,1.3), the deformation textures in various thickness layers consist of three major components, i.e. strong γ-fiber,medium α-fiber and weak η-fiber, and they show an asymmetrical distribution throughout the thickness. The effect of reduction on the texture gradient is found to be more significant at and near the center layer; however, the effect subsurface layers, that may favour the formation of a sharp Goss texture during the subsequent annealing.
Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Al/Mg Alloy Multilayered Composites Produced by Accumulative Roll Bonding

Abstract: Al/Mg alloy multilayered composites were produced successfully at the lower temperature (280°C) by accumulative roll bonding (ARB) processing technique. The microstructures of Al and Mg alloy layers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Vickers hardness and three-point bending tests were conducted to investigate mechanical properties of the composites. It is found that Vickers hardness, bending strength and stiffness modulus of the Al/Mg alloy multilayered composite increase with increasing the ARB pass. Delamination and crack propagation along the interface are the two main failure modes of the multilayered composite subjected to bending load. Strengthening and fracture mechanisms of the composite are analyzed.
