M Times Photon Subtraction-Addition Coherent Superposition Operated Odd-Schr?dinger-cat State: Nonclassicality and Decoherence

Abstract: We introduce a new non-Gaussian state, generated by m times coherent superposition operation $a\cos \theta +a^{\dagger }e^{i\varphi }\sin \theta $ (MCSO) on odd-Schrodinger-cat state (OSCS). Its normalized constant is turned out to be related with the Hermite polynomial. We further investigate the nonclassical properties of the MCSO-OSCS through Mandel's Q-parameter, quadrature squeezing, the photocount distribution and Wigner function (WF). It is shown that the nonclassicality of the MCSO-OSCS is influenced by the number of times (m) of coherent superpositon operation, the angle $\theta $ and the amplitude of the coherent state (|$\alpha _{0}$|). Especially the volume of negative region of WF increases with the increment of parameters m, $\theta $ and $\alpha _{0}$. We also investigate the decoherence of the MCSO-OSCS in terms of the fadeaway of the negativity of WF in a thermal environment.

Abstract: In the title compound, C18H19NO, the dihedral angle between 4-methylphenyl and 4-(dimethylamino)phenyl rings is 45.5 (3)°. The C—C=C—C torsion angle of 173.8 (3)° indicates that the molecule adopts an E configuration. The dimethylamino group is nearly coplanar with the attached benzene ring, making a dihedral angle of 2.7 (3)°. Weak intermolecular C—H...π interactions are observed in the crystal structure.
Genetic Interactions between Neurofibromin and Endothelin Receptor B in Mice

Abstract: When mutations in two different genes produce the same mutant phenotype, it suggests that the encoded proteins either interact with each other, or act in parallel to fulfill a similar purpose. Haploinsufficiency of Neurofibromin and over-expression of Endothelin 3 both cause increased numbers of melanocytes to populate the dermis during mouse development, and thus we are interested in how these two signaling pathways might intersect. Neurofibromin is mutated in the human genetic disease, neurofibromatosis type 1, which is characterized by the development of Schwann cell based tumors and skin hyper-pigmentation. Neurofibromin is a GTPase activating protein, while the Endothelin 3 ligand activates Endothelin receptor B, a G protein coupled receptor. In order to study the genetic interactions between endothelin and neurofibromin, we defined the deletion breakpoints of the classical Ednrb piebald lethal allele (Ednrbs-l) and crossed these mice to mice with a loss-of-function mutation in neurofibromin, Dark skin 9 (Dsk9). We found that Neurofibromin haploinsufficiency requires Endothelin receptor B to darken the tail dermis. In contrast, Neurofibromin haploinsufficiency increases the area of the coat that is pigmented in Endothelin receptor B null mice. We also found an oncogenic mutation in the G protein alpha subunit, GNAQ, which couples to Endothelin receptor B, in a uveal melanoma from a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1. Thus, this data suggests that there is a complex relationship between Neurofibromin and Endothelin receptor B.
Reliability and Validity of the Student Teacher Professional Identity Scale in Pre-Service Kindergarten Teachers  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: To revise and explore the application of the student teacher professional identity scale in pre-service kindergarten teachers (STPIS-PK). Methods: 450 preservice kindergarten teachers were surveyed by the student teacher professional identity scale. Results: 1) The EFA supported that teacher professional identity consisted of four subscales: professional values, professional willingness, professional efficiency and professional volition. Also the CFA confirmed the hypothesized four-factor model (x2 = 133.277, x2/df = 2.777, CFI = 0.939, TLI = 0.901, RMSEA = 0.047). The Criteria-related validity was remarkable; 2) The internal consistency of teacher professional identity scale was 0.801 and the four subscales were from 0.628 to 0.789. For two weeks, the test-retest reliability was from 0.616 to 0.786. Conclusion: In sum, this study generated evidence that the STPIS-PK developed in the study is a psychometrically sound and valid instruments to measure pre-service kindergarten teachers’ professional identity.
Capacity of a backbone wireless mesh network using directional antennas

Abstract: Directional antennas can improve spatial reuse of Wireless Mesh Setworks (WMNs) and affect the capacity of WMNs. Although some medium access control schemes, routing protocols and topology control methods of directional antennas have been recently proposed to improve the performance of WMN, it is still a need to analyze the capacity of WMNs deployed with directional antennas. This paper studied the capacity of a large backbone WMN using directional antennas by asymptotic analysis methods, investigated the effect of directional antennas on capacity and derived the upper bound of the per-router throughput. The results show that when the number of access points increases to some threshold, using directional antennas will improve the capacity of WMNs.
Mechanical and corrosion properties of low-carbon steel prepared by friction stir processing

Abstract: Low-carbon steel plates were successfully subjected to normal friction stir processing (NFSP) in air and submerged friction stir processing (SFSP) under water, and the microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion behavior of the NFSP and SFSP samples were investigated. Phase transformation and dynamic recrystallization resulted in fine-grained ferrite and martensite in the processed zone. The SFSP samples had smaller ferrites (5.1 μm), finer martensite laths (557 nm), and more uniform distribution of martensite compared to the NFSP samples. Compared to the base material (BM), the microhardness of the NFSP and SFSP samples increased by 19.8% and 27.1%, respectively because of the combined strengthening effects of grain refinement, phase transformation, and dislocation. The ultimate tensile strengths (UTSs) of the NFSP and SFSP samples increased by 27.1% and 38.7%, respectively. Grain refinement and martensite transformation also improved the electrochemical corrosion properties of the low-carbon steel. Overall, the SFSP samples had better mechanical properties and electrochemical corrosion resistance than the NFSP samples.
Antioxidant and Antityrosinase Activity of Flemingia macrophylla and Glycine tomentella Roots

Abstract: The antioxidant and antityrosinase activities of the water extract of Flemingia macrophylla root (WEFM) were investigated. The results showed that WEFM exhibited radical scavenging and reducing activities, as well as ferrous ion chelating property. In addition, WEFM also protected phospholipids against oxidation, indicating that WEFM could protect biomolecules from oxidative damage. Meanwhile, in the range of 50–100 μg/mL, the tyrosinase inhibitory activity of WEFM increased with an increase in sample concentration and was superior to that of the water extract of Glycine tomentella root (WEGT). A high performance liquid chromatography analysis was used to determine the phenolic components, revealing that daidzin, daidzein, genistin, and genistein were present in WEFM and WEGT. Acting as an antioxidant and a tyrosinase inhibitor, these bioactive constituents could contribute to the protective effects of WEFM. Overall, the results showed that WEFM might serve as a natural antioxidant and tyrosinase inhibitor.
Nicotinamide Phosphoribosyltransferase May Be Involved in Age-Related Brain Diseases

Abstract: Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) is a key enzyme for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) biosynthesis, and can be found either intracellularly (iNAMPT) or extracellularly (eNAMPT). Studies have shown that both iNAMPT and eNAMPT are implicated in aging and age-related diseases/disorders in the peripheral system. However, their functional roles in aged brain remain to be established. Here we showed that upon aging, NAMPT level increased in serum but decreased in brain, decreased in cortex and hippocampus but remained unchanged in cerebellum and striatum in brain, and increased in microglia but likely decreased in neuron. Accordingly, total NAD (tNAD) level significantly decreased in hippocampus, cerebellum and striatum in aged brain. Application of recombinant NAMPT, mimicking the elevated serum NAMPT level, enhanced the susceptibility of cerebral endothelial cells to ischemic injury, while inhibition of iNAMPT by FK866, a specific inhibitor, reduced intracellular NAD level and induced neuronal death. Taken together, we have revealed a region- and cell-specific change of NAMPT level in brain and serum upon aging, deduced its potential consequences, which suggests that NAMPT is a regulatory factor in aging and age-related brain diseases.
New Progress of the Highly Efficient siRNA Design

Abstract: RNA interference (RNAi), a conserved evolutionary mechanism widely found in living nature, is considered for defending the alien gene and virus infection. RNAi can induce gene silencing by prohibiting the translation of the target mRNA, which is specially recognized by the corresponding siRNA, and finally degraded by the RISC. So RNAi can be applied as a new technology tool for the functional gene research and gene therapy. But the effects of random designed siRNAs on gene silencing differ greatly from each other. The design of the special, highly efficient siRNA comes to be a crucial problem. This issue gives an overview about the new progress of the siRNA design principle.
