A study of nurses’ job satisfaction: The relationship to professional commitment and friendship networks  [PDF]

Abstract: We suggest that employees’ job satisfaction has relationship to friendship network other than professional commitment, and argue that friendship network in the same ward and across wards will have different effects on employees’ job satisfaction. A cross-sectional survey design utilizing questionnaires was selected to fulfill the research objectives. All of the 405 nurses in the En Chou Kong Hospital were surveyed. Three hundred and three nurses completed the questionnaire representing a response rate of 74.8%. The instruments included friendship network nomination, professional commitment scale, and nurses’ job satisfaction scale (NJSS). The regression model of job satisfaction was constructed, using friendship network variables in the ward and across wards and professional commitment as independent variables. R square for each model is 0.22-0.36 for the four dimensions of job satisfaction. Professional commitment is the robust predictor. The efficiency of friendship network in the ward is a good predictor, while it is negative related to satisfaction of work load. Further, the indegree in the ward is negative related to work load. Implication was discussed.

Abstract: Leading time length is an important issue for modeling seasonal forecasts. In this study, a comparison of the interannual predictability of the Western North Pacific (WNP) summer monsoon between different leading months was performed by using one-, four-, and seven-month lead retrospective forecasts (hindcasts) of four coupled models from Ensembles-Based Predictions of Climate Changes and Their Impacts (ENSEMBLES) for the period of 1960-2005. It is found that the WNP summer anomalies, including lower-tropospheric circulation and precipitation anomalies, can be well predicted for all these leading months. The accuracy of the four-month lead prediction is only slightly weaker than that of the one-month lead prediction, although the skill decreases with the increase of leading months.

Abstract:
This study presents the numerical evaluation about the impact of flow disturbance near the intrados and extrados regions of the 90 degree bended elbow using CFX for several practical cases where the 90 degree bended upward elbow is located in a proximity to the butterfly valve and the butterfly valve open angle is changed. For the change of a butterfly valve open angle from 60% to 100% and the increase of the distance between a valve and a 90 degree bended elbow, the effect of FAC (Flow-Accelerated Corrosion) in the 90 degree bended elbow may be neglected because the value and distribution of the velocity and shear stress is rapidly decreased comparing with the present status installed in an industry, and the data of 100% valve open (Case 3) and L/D ≈ 5 (Case 4) are very good agreement comparing with the reference data, L/D ≈ 8 (Case 2). The reasons are that flow already maintains a fully developed condition and a steady state in spite of less distance than the reference case, L/D = 8. Therefore, smooth flow fields have approached at a 90 degree bended elbow. Then, the effect of shear stress and vortex is hardly investigated around the intrados area of 90 degree bended elbow.
Numerical simulation and analysis for indoor air quality in different ventilation  [PDF]

Abstract: Indoor air environment includes indoor thermal environment and air quality, and a reasonable ventilation provides guarantee for a good indoor environment. A numerical study of the indoor environment in different ventilation is presented in this paper. The External Energy Saving Lab of the WenYuan Building was selected for this purpose, and its indoor air quality and thermal performance in the typical summer climate were simulated. For the numerical simulation, the techniques of Fluent Air-pak was adopted to establish the physical and numerical model of lab. A attention is given to the velocity field and the distribution of pollutant concentration, followed by a discussion of two ventilation modes (displacement ventilation and up-in and up-out ventilation). By comparison, it is found that the Displacement ventilation in improving indoor air quality is obviously superior to the traditional up-in and up-out ventilation.

Abstract:

In the article, the nonlinear equation is reduced to an ordinary differential equation under the travelling wave transformation. Using trial equation method, the ODE is reduced to the elementary integral form. In the end, complete discrimination system for polynomial is used to solve the corresponding integrals and obtain the classification of all single travelling wave solutions to the equation.

Abstract: Although executives and workers all are the enterprise value creators, most research has focused on the study of executive compensation, and the wages of employees are less. Especially, there is little literature to study the salary problem of employees in product market competition environment. Using a sample of China’s listed firms from 2002 to 2014, we examine how product market competition influences firm worker’s pay. We find that market competition will strengthen employee wage, which results from market competition augment firm’s labor demand. At the same time we also find that the higher the competitive position of enterprises in the industry, the higher the wages. The evidence has an important implication for research on product market competition and corporate behavior and provides some useful suggestions for policy makers.
