Effects of dark energy on P-V criticality of charged AdS black holes

Abstract: In this Letter, we investigate the effects of dark energy on $P-V$ criticality of charged AdS black holes by considering the case of the RN-AdS black holes surrounded by quintessence. By treating the cosmological constant as thermodynamic pressure, we study its thermodynamics in the extended phase space. It is shown that quintessence dark energy does not affect the existence of small/large black hole phase transition. For the case $\omega_q=-2/3$ we derive analytic expressions of critical physical quantities, while for cases $\omega_q\neq-2/3$ we appeal to numerical method for help. It is shown that quintessence dark energy affects the critical physical quantities near the critical point. Critical exponents are also calculated. They are exactly the same as those obtained before for arbitrary other AdS black holes, which implies that quintessence dark energy does not change the critical exponents.

Abstract: The thermodynamic quantities for the gases of massless particles with spin s = 1 / 2, 1, 3 / 2, 2 around static spherical black holes are investigated by using the brick-wall method. The appearance of the spin-dependent subleading terms is demonstrated and the terms are shown to contain not only the linear and quadratic terms of the spins but also a zero-power term of the spins.

Abstract: The quantum corrections to the entropy of the Barriola-Vilenkin black hole due to the massless gravitational field are calculated by using the brick-wall model.It is shown that the quantum corrections consist of two parts:One is a quadratic divergent term at the event horizon and is proportional to the surface area of the event horizon.The other is two logarithmically divergent terms which not only depend on the characteristics of the black hole but also on the spin of the field.The whole expression does not take the form of the scalar field.

Abstract: By using the brick-wall model, the quantum entropy of a cylindrical black hole in Anti-de Sitter space-time arising from the massless Dirac field is discussed. It is shown that the quantum entropy has both linear and logarithmical divergences if the usual contribution from the vacuum surrounding the system is ignored, and the whole expression does not take the form of the scalar one. Both the whole logarithmic term and the subleading logarithmic term which relates to the spins of the Dirac particles are always positive.

Abstract: The divergences at all levels for the statistical entropy of a plane symmetry black hole arising from the massless Dirac field are considered using the brick-wall model. It is shown that if we ignore the usual contribution from the vacuum surrounding the system, then the statistical entropy consists of two parts: one is the linearly divergent term which has the geometric character, the other consists of two logarithmically divergent terms which are not proportional to the surface area of the horizon. The entropy of the Dirac field on extremal plane symmetry spacetime background has higher divergence than usual.

Thermodynamic properties of rotating trapped ideal Bose gases

Abstract: Ultracold atomic gases can be spined up either by confining them in rotating frame, or by introducing ``synthetic" magnetic field. In this paper, thermodynamics of rotating ideal Bose gases are investigated within truncated-summation approach which keeps to take into account the discrete nature of energy levels, rather than to approximate the summation over single-particle energy levels by an integral as does in semi-classical approximation. Our results show that Bose gases in rotating frame exhibit much stronger dependence on rotation frequency than those in ``synthetic" magnetic field. Consequently, BEC can be more easily suppressed in rotating frame than in ``synthetic" magnetic field.

Abstract: Tea plant (Camellia sinensis) has unique biological features for the study of cellular and molecular mechanisms, an evergreen broad-leaved woody plant which can accumulate selenium in soil abundant of Selenium. Expression of the genes related to Selenium (Se) metabolism is an adaptation to the soil environment for a long period. The purpose of the present study was to explore if there exist differences of expression about these genes in tea plant between growing in Selenium-abundant and normal soil. A quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (Q-RT-PCR) assay was done for quantification of ATP sulfurylase (APS) and selenocysteine methyltransferase (SMT) mRNA normalized to Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) gene in tea plant. Young leaves, mature leaves and tender roots from tea plants growing in soil abundant of Selenium were respectively obtained from Shitai County, Anhui Province, and also the relevant materials of the selenium un-enriched tea plant planted at agricultural garden of Ahui Agriculture University were taken as control for real-time PCR analysis. The results showed that APS1, APS2 and SMT expression levels for either young or mature leaves in selenium-enriched tea plant were lower than that in ordinary (selenium un-enriched) tea plant. In contrast, the APS1, APS2 and SMT expression level of roots in selenium-enriched tea plant were all higher than that in ordinary tea plant. APS1 gene expression level of roots in selenium-enriched tea plant was about 1.6 times higher than that in the ordinary tea plant, APS2 gene expression level was about 4.8-fold higher than that in the ordinary tea plant, SMT gene expression level was about 3.3 times higher than that in the ordinary tea plant. Among various tissues of selenium-enriched tea plant, APS1 gene relative expression level of young leaves was similar to or slightly higher than mature leaves, and the one of roots was the lowest among them; APS2 gene relative expression level of young leaves was similar to or slightly higher than the roots, and the one of mature leaves was the lowest among them; SMT gene relative expression level of young leaves was similar to or slightly higher than mature leaves, and the one of roots was the highest among them. Our results suggest that there existed correlation between selenium and expression levels of these genes.
