Abstract: this descriptive study with a qualitative approach is aimed to try to understand the meanings that mexican women attribute to alcohol consumption. the methodological reference framework was the case study, from the theoretical perspective of symbolic interactionism. ten women participated in this study. data was recollected through semi-structured interviews. the interviews were recorded, transcribed, coded and categorized, based on the analysis of the content analysis. the study revealed that alcohol makes the women become another person the one they really wanted to be> this is mainly the reason why they continued drinking on a regular basis, at increasing levels. in the context of symbolic interactionism, we observed that these women's self was restricted by the daily demands, consolidating a self that responds more to the sociocultural expectatives (me) than to their own (i) expectations. they discovered that alcohol stimulated the expression of their selves , unleashing another person inside them, which normally does not manifest itself

Advances in Biological Chemistry (ABC) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/abc.2017.72008
Abstract: The Desierto de los Leones National Park is a place that features recreational activities for residents and visitors to Mexico City. The Presa de los Patos (Ducks Dam) is one of the many bodies of water that are present in the park. By means of physico-chemical and microbiological analysis, it was determined that the water of the Presa de los Patos cannot be considered potable. The pH range was between 5.5 - 5.9. The turbidity exceeded the values established in the standards (10.7 - 32.3 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU’s)). Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) showed that large amounts of oxygen are needed to oxidize organic matter (106 - 450 mg/L). The amount of coliforms and fecal coliforms exceeds the values established by the standards used (total coliforms 98 - 956 Colony Forming Units (CFU’s), fecal coliforms 78 - 807 CFU’s). Five bacterial genera (Escherichia coli, Pseudomona, Klebsiella, Shigella and Salmonella) were isolated and identified. Most of the bacteria isolated were resistant to ampicillin (90%), while 25% were resistant to ciprofloxacin. The water consumption of the Presa de los Patos is a great risk for the habitants and visitors of the park.

Revista Colombiana de Química , 2010,
Abstract: in this work the degradation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) was analyzed by varying the temperature and the concentration of potassium hydroxide in 1-butanol holding constant the size and weight of the sample. the temperature range used was from 110oc to 150oc and concentrations of potassium hydroxide in 1-butanol in the range of 0,4 to 4,4 molar, obtaining 99% degradation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) in one hour. the temperature of 150°c and the concentration of 3,34 m were used to study the degradation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) as a function of time. we obtained two phases, an organic phase and solid phase. the solid phase is a soluble in acidic solutions. the solid phase probably corresponds to the of potassium terephthalate. from the results and comparing with models of degradation found in the literature this work suggests that poly(ethylene terephthalate) degradation reaction occurs type power law.

Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology , 2012, DOI: 10.1186/1477-7827-10-88
Abstract: In the adult rat, neural signals arriving to the ovary via the superior ovarian nerve (SON) modulate progesterone (P4), testosterone (T) and estradiol (E2) secretion. The aims of the present study were to analyze if the SON in the pre-pubertal rat also modulates ovarian hormone secretion and the release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing (LH) hormone. P4, T, E2, FSH and LH serum levels were measured 30 or 60 minutes after sectioning the SON of pre-pubertal female rats. Our results indicate that the effects on hormone levels resulting from unilaterally or bilaterally sectioning the SON depends on the analyzed hormone, and the time lapse between surgery and autopsy, and that the treatment yielded asymmetric results. The results also suggest that in the pre-pubertal rat the neural signals arriving to the ovaries via the SON regulate the enzymes participating in P4, T and E2 synthesis in a non-parallel way, indicating that the mechanisms regulating the synthesis of each hormone are not regulated by the same signals. Also, that the changes in the steroids hormones are not explained exclusively by the modifications in gonadotropins secretion. The observed differences in hormone levels between rats sacrificed 30 and 60 min after surgery reflect the onset of the compensatory systems regulating hormones secretion.

Gaceta Médica de Caracas , 2009,
Abstract: in the developing countries the rheumatic fever still constitutes a health problem. the rheumatic valvulopathy is serious because in most of the cases replacement of the affected valve is needed, including adolescent patients and in the average age of the life. the evolution of the valvular lesions is progressive with fibrous remodeling of the structures. histologically the angiogenesis density is variable and heterogeneous depending on different growth factors. the objective was to determine the angiogenesis density and heterogeneity in three stages of progression of the rheumatic chronic valvulitis and their relation with the fibrosis and inflammation. histopathologic and immunohisthochemical analysis of 60 biopsies was done on patients with replacement of the mitral valve, of both sexes, divided in three groups that characterize stages of progression of the chronic valvulitis. each type of neovasculature?s valvular density and its relation to the inflammation and fibrosis degree was estimated. the age averages of groups 1.2 and 3, were: 15.3 ± 0.6; 31 ± 1.5 and 49.7 ± 1.4 years, respectively. the total angiogenesis, density (vasos/mm2) decreassed from group 1 to the 3; 14.78±1.92; 5.98±1.08 and 3.55±0.76 (p< 0.001), anova, f = 19.162. the predominant angiogenesis was the ?mother-vase?, transitory structure that evolves to the intermediate and most stable forms: (?children vases? and ?vases with muscular walls?). the presence of the neovascular density?s variability and the heterogeneity in the chronic stage of the rheumatic valvulopathy in relation to the inflammatory and of healing process could be explained as the effect of different growth factors.
