Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of temperature on germination of Pinus tabuliformis Carrière seed, Pinus gerardiana Wall. ex D. Don and Pinus roxburghii Sarg. Seeds of three species were distributed in Petri dishes with 1% agar solution; for the first step it was placed on a 2-way Grant’s thermogradient plate (a bi-directional incubator) for a period of 28 days and during the second step in an incubator type B.O.D. also for 28 days with non-germinated seeds in the first step. This instrument allows an assessment of a wide regime of constant and alternating temperatures, resulting to 144 different combinations of temperature, scheduled to the temperatures 4°C - 40°C. The lighting regime was 12 hours photoperiod for the two stages of the experiment. The best temperature for the germination of P. tabuliformis was 26.2°C (minimum of 7.9°C and maximum 37.0°C) and P. roxburghii was 15.6
ATMOSPHERIC N DEPOSITION IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN CHILE: AN OVERVIEW

Abstract: temperate forests in chile are not yet affected by elevated nitrogen (n) deposition. however, anthropogenic activities such as transport, industry and agriculture have been increasing in central and southern chile. these activities can substantially alter the atmospheric n load and subsequently n deposition. nitrogen deposition data for central and southern chile are scares and scattered. in order to assess trends of n deposition a good knowledge of past and current n depositions is however essential. this study presents an overview of the existing n deposition data in chile. in central chile, dry deposition has been estimated at 0.8 kg no3--n ha-1 yr-1 and 1.0 kg nh4+-n ha-1 yr-1, giving a total of 1.8 kg n ha-1 yr-1 and wet deposition was 0.4 kg no3--n ha-1 and 0.6 kg nh4+-n ha-1 yr-1, giving a total of 1.0 kg n ha-1 yr-1. in southern chile, inorganic n deposition via rainwater are less than 1.0 kg n ha-1 yr-1 in the coast range and < 5.0 kg n ha-1 yr-1 in the andes. the n input via cloudwater in the coast range was estimated at 1.1 kg no3--n ha-1 yr-1 and 0.9 kg nh4+-n ha-1 yr-1, versus 1.0 kg no3--n ha-1 yr-1 and 1.4 kg nh4+-n ha-1 yr-1 the andean mountains. organic n input in rainwater can be a substantial n input in temperate forests of southern chile. deposition of organic n in andes has been reported at 8.2 kg n ha-1 yr-1. this values is 11-fold higher than in the coast range (0.7 kg n ha-1 yr-1)

Abstract: this paper deals with the trichoptera immature fauna collected in 101 streams in rio das almas basin during august-october 2008 and in rio paran?, iaciara-go municipality, on august 2003, using kick-nets with 0.025 m2 of opening and 2 mm mesh. we record four new genera for goiás state, expanding records of genera from 33 to 37 and contributing to the trichoptera fauna knowledge in central brazil.

Sin embargo, las actividades antropogénicas como el transporte, industria y agricultura se han incrementado en la región centro y sur de Chile. Estas actividades pueden sustancialmente alterar la carga atmosférica de nitrógeno y su consecuente depositación. Información sobre depositación atmosférica de N para el centro y sur de Chile esta escasa y dispersa. El poseer un registro de la depositación de nitrógeno, es esencial para un buen conocimiento de la situación pasada y actual. Este estudio presenta una revisión de la información de N depositación en Chile. En Chile central, la depositación seca fue estimada en 0,8 kg NO3--N ha-1 a o-1 y 1,0 kg NH4+-N ha-1 a o-1, con un total de 1,8 kg N ha-1 a o-1. La depositación húmeda fue de 0,4 kg NO3--N ha-1 a o-1 y 0,6 kg NH4+-N ha-1 a o-1 con un total de 1,0 kg N ha-1 a o-1. Abstract: the current situation concerning information technologies is reviewed, based on the identification of the main issues ethically affecting the users community. the unequal access to information is highlighted as a major ethical problem of today that is the origin of a new social class: the rich in information. it is concluded that the relation ethics / new technologies should not be reduced merely to the theoretical aspect, but it must be common practice for individuals, organizations and states.

Abstract: Se examina el panorama de las nuevas tecnologías de la información, a partir de la identificación de los principales problemas que, desde el punto de vista ético, afectan a su comunidad de usuarios. Se destaca el acceso desigual a la información como el problema ético fundamental de los tiempos actuales, origen de una nueva clase: los ricos en información. Se concluye que la relación ética/nuevas tecnologías no debe reducirse a lo meramente teórico, sino que ha de ser una práctica asumida por los individuos, las organizaciones y los estados. Asymptotics for first-passage times on Delaunay triangulations

Abstract: In this paper we study first-passge percolation models on Delaunay triangulations. We show a sufficient condition to ensure that the asymptotic value of the rescaled first-passage time, called the time constant, is strictly positive and derive some upper bounds for fluctuations. Our proofs are based on renormalization ideas and on the method of bounded increments.
On Some fundamental aspects of Polyominoes on Random Voronoi Tilings

Abstract: Consider a Voronoi tiling of the Euclidean space based on a realization of a inhomogeneous Poisson random set. A Voronoi polyomino is a finite and connected union of Voronoi tiles. In this paper we provide tail bounds for the number of boxes that are intersected by a Voronoi polyomino, and vice-versa. These results will be crucial to analyze self-avoiding paths, greedy polyominoes and first-passage percolation models on Voronoi tilings and on the dual graph, named the Delaunay triangulation.
On the location of the maximum of a continuous stochastic process

Abstract: In this short note we will provide a sufficient and necessary condition to have uniqueness of the location of the maximum of a stochastic process over an interval. The result will also express the mean value of the location in terms of the derivative of the expectation of the maximum of a linear perturbation of the underlying process. As an application, we will consider a Brownian motion with variable drift. The ideas behind the method of proof will also be useful to study the location of the maximum, over the real line, of a two-sided Brownian motion minus a parabola and of a stationary process minus a parabola.
A multi-type shape theorem for FPP models

Abstract: An Euclidean first-passage percolation (FPP) model describing the competing growth between $k$ different types of infection is considered. We focus on the long time behavior of this multi-type growth process and we derive multi-type shape results related to its morphology.
