Laville, Christian;
Revista Brasileira de História , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-01881999000200006
Abstract: almost everywhere in the world, official school curricula require that the teaching of history develop students' capacity for intellectual autonomy and critical thinking. they don't bear anymore the mission to instil in students' consciousness a single narrative glorifying the nation or the community. still, whenever the teaching of history is called into question in public debates, it is always in reference to this sort of narrative: school curricula do not include it, yet it is the sole point of these debates. the article gives several examples of such debates throughout the world. it then concludes that these are most probably pointless debates as it seems we overestimate the actual effects of history education. examples of this are also given.
Holomorphic Cliffordian Product
Guy Laville
Mathematics , 2005,
Abstract: Let R\_{0,n} be the Clifford algebra of the antieuclidean vector space of dimension n. The aim is to built a function theory analogous to the one in the C case. In the latter case, the product of two holomorphic functions is holomorphic, this fact is, of course, of paramount importance. Then it is necessary to define a product for functions in the Clifford context. But, non-commutativity is inconciliable with product of functions. Here we introduce a product which is commutative and we compute some examples explicitely.

Abstract: We present an integral representation formula for a Dirichlet series whose coefficients are the values of the Liouville's arithmetic function.
Blanchard-Laville, Claudine;
Fractal : Revista de Psicologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-02922009000300002
Abstract: in this article, the author presents the characteristics of the approach to group analysis she has developed based on the reflections of such post-kleinian psychoanalysts as michael balint and wilfred r. bion ; this conception defines a groupal psychic space for examining suffering in the professional life of the teachers and instructors for whom it has been defined. following this presentation, the author will analyze a situation related by pascal, a philosophy teacher, concerning a moment in one of his courses in which he felt somewhat mistreated by his group of students and, in particular, by one among them. group analysis allowed pascal to relate this scene to key moments in his own personal biography as a student and to begin metabolizing the emotions provoked by the present situation. the participants in the group thus explore a form of psychic work with formative, professionalizing orientation.
Economia solidária, a perspectiva européia
Laville, Jean-Louis;
Sociedade e Estado , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69922001000100004
Abstract: in europe, the acknowlegement of the human rights provoked the old social order's instability without eliminating, however, diferences in social condition, inherited from traditional societies. with the 19th. century emerging social questions, compatibility between citzenship and economical development became an object of passionate debates assumed by newly coming associations. this article aims at underlining the significant amount of researches focusing on associations, which mark its difference from a patterned theoretical economical hypothesis and deductions, chosing, instead, comprehensive and historical methodologies. the main results lead to take the notions of non profit and third sector as relative. the concept of solidarity became the core of the explanation of many social practices which could be tied under the generic tittle of civic associations.
Laville, Jean-Louis;
Revista Katálysis , 2008,
Abstract: for the past two centuries utilitarianism has sought to define the market economy and the society of capital as 'absolute'. the naturalization of these elements, which is inherent to modernity and periodically updated, has curtailed debate about economic models and limited democracy. the first part of the text discusses these relationships between democracy and the economy, considering current difficulties and guided by the idea that public action is progressively made dependent on the dominant conception of the economy. the second part of this text describes how the reciprocal democratization of civil society and public policies are associated to an economy based on the plurality of economic principles and forms of property. at the dawn of the 21st century it clearly appears that democracy does not know how to subsist in a market society. our future is bound to the option of a plural market economy, in which economic choices are not subject to the deliberations of the citizenry.
A economia solidária: Um movimento internacional The Solidarity Economy: An International Movement L’économie solidaire: un mouvement international
Jean-Louis Laville
This article shows how a solidarity economy movement has arisen in different national and continental contexts. The diversity of practices embedded in local and international civil society networks should be underlined. Emerging in the last decades, this generation of associations and cooperatives, assuming political and economic dimensions, has extended the social economy and provided concrete proposals for another economy in a period of capitalist crisis. Thus, it has to be integrated in the research of a renewed economic model and public action.
The concept of embeddedness has imposed itself in the New Economic Sociology. This paper highlights the multiple meanings of this term. In a first part, we discuss the political and reticular meanings adopted by Granovetter and Polanyi respectively. In the context of modern democracy, the work of Polanyi shows a double movement characterizing the relations between economy and society, which we develop in the second part. With such a perspective, the convergence between Polanyi and Mauss is highlighted in a plurial approach of the economy, which we discuss in the third part. The hypothesis presented in the fourth part leads us to analyze the content of institutional changes which can confirm the plurality of the economy, and to participate in its democratic reembeddedness .
