Many efforts have been made by the World Health Organization to eradicate poliomyelitis worldwide, a disease that causes irreversible paralysis for life in addition to adverse economic effects for the patient and his/her family as well. For the first time, there is a technical cooperation project between countries outside The Americas, in which the capabilities, strength, commitment and potentialities of the Cuban medicine was again stressed in the world. Twenty Cuban physicians were involved in the first phase (January-July 2008) and 7 in the second phase (January-April 2009). The objective of this cooperation was focused on comprehensive teamwork, strengthening of surveillance, control of immunopreventable diseases, improvement of regular vaccination coverage, formation of human resources and support to vaccination campaigns. It was possible to make a large amount of health workers and the community sensitive to the detection of acute flaccid paralysis as well as other immnopreventable diseases, to strengthen active search

Juárez en la prensa conservadora chilena de 1872.
Francisco Alejandro García Naranjo
Tzintzun.
Hemoglobin S Polymerization Effect on Water Self-Diffusion Coefficient  [PDF]
Manuel A. Lores Guevara, Juan C. García-Naranjo, Yulianela Mengana, Jorge Pereira
Advances in Biological Chemistry (ABC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/abc.2014.46044
Abstract: The transversal relaxation time, the effective transversal relaxation time and the water self-diffusion coefficient are evaluated during hemoglobin S polymerization. One homogeneous permanent magnet and one inhomogeneous and portable unilateral magnet with a very strong and constant static magnetic field gradient were utilized. The Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill method was used before and after placing the studied samples 24 hours at 36°C to guarantee the polymerization. The transversal relaxation shows two exponents after polymerization supporting the concept of partially polymerized hemoglobin. The effective transversal relaxation time decreases around 40%, which can be explained by the increase of water self-diffusion coefficient 1.8 times as a main value. This result can be explained considering the effects of the agglutination process on the obstruction and hydration effects in a partially polymerized solution.
Abstract: Once a consensus was reached in the system of comercial and political relations between Spain and Cuba, the readjustment in the interaction between Cubans and Spaniards was easier, as the situation of open war turned into another of peaceful coexistence guaranteed by the jural framework of the new republic, strengthened by the rise of Spanish immigration, and sustained by the enormous influence of the Hispano-Cuban cultural tradition.
Gauge Transformations, Twisted Poisson Brackets and Hamiltonization of Nonholonomic Systems
Paula Balseiro,Luis García-Naranjo
Physics , 2011, DOI: 10.1007/s00205-012-0512-9
Abstract: In this paper we study the problem of Hamiltonization of nonholonomic systems from a geometric point of view. We use gauge transformations by 2-forms (in the sense of Severa and Weinstein [29]) to construct different almost Poisson structures describing the same nonholonomic system. In the presence of symmetries, we observe that these almost Poisson structures, although gauge related, may have fundamentally different properties after reduction, and that brackets that Hamiltonize the problem may be found within this family. We illustrate this framework with the example of rigid bodies with generalized rolling constraints, including the Chaplygin sphere rolling problem. We also see how twisted Poisson brackets appear naturally in nonholonomic mechanics through these examples.

A review of the Veronicellidae from Mexico (Gastropoda: Soleolifera)
Naranjo-García, Edna;Thomé, José Willibaldo;Castillejo, José;
Revista mexicana de biodiversidad , 2007,
Abstract: information is presented regarding the species of the family veronicellidae in mexico. data were gathered from specimens deposited in the colección nacional de moluscos (instituto de biología, universidad nacional autónoma de méxico), from field trips, and from the literature. these slugs are distributed mainly in the central and southern regions of mexico, although there are a few records from the northern part of the country. five species in three genera have been recorded, namely: leidyula floridana, l. moreleti, phyllocaulis gayi, sarasinula dubia and s. plebeia. the occurrence of leidyula floridana and phyllocaulis gayi in mexico needs confirmation. the los tuxtlas region, southern veracruz, is a hotspot where veronicellid slugs have become a pest and farmers have stopped growing beans, switching to other crops as a measure to contain the pest.
