Raiza Andrade,Luz Marina Pereira

Critical Care , 2001, DOI: 10.1186/cc1351
Abstract: To implement a BLS educational program for dentistry and medical school, based on theoretical/practical approach following the American Heart Association standards for BLS training.A 60-h course was designed encompassing BLS and basic care of trauma patients. The contents are divided in theory and practice in a balanced basis. BLS contents are developed in 12 h including adult, children and babies. Appropriated manikins are used for each scenario.Cardiopulmonary resuscitation laboratory at Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina.Medical and dentistry first-year students. For the last 2 years we have developed this program with a very intense participation of most students. Dentistry alumni have also demonstrated interest and an excellent performance. We found a great deal of enthusiasm among most of our students and many of then have been working as volunteer educators of BLS for high school students in another program linked to this experience. Through this time we have concluded that this idea is feasible and stimulating as it brings the students to a useful content for them and the community where they live.A BLS education program for dentistry and medical school first-year students is viable and should be put into practice in other universities and in many other countries.

Fractal : Revista de Psicologia , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-02922012000200004
Abstract: contemporarily, typical job accidents are still being kept as an extremely relevant theme to society. the social welfare (inss), in 2007, registered 653,090 work accidents. owing to the statistics, several public offices have committed in facing the incidents characterized as typical work injuries (at). this research was originated from a dissertation which aimed to put in analysis the investigation practices in some public agencies in espírito santo state as the occurrence of typical work injuries, aiming to expand the questions concerning the binary guilt for the accident - sometimes due to the employer, sometimes due to the employee. in this article, we focus on the second chapter of the dissertation, for we used the tool-concept of biopower developed by michel foucault, to launch an analysis on biopower and the accident-control policies we conclude that subjectivation mechanisms are processed in a way to quell the importance of the trasversality of institutions in the formation of work accidents.

Rem: Revista Escola de Minas , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0370-44672009000100014
Abstract: acid mine drainage is a main environmental problem linked to coal and sulfide ore mining. its treatment usually involves alkalinization and subsequent precipitation and immobilization of the dissolved species. rainfalls over stockpiles can cause a very similar phenomenon. this work aimed to study the effluents from such a leaching process in steam-coal stockpiles brazilian coal with a high pyrite content was used. the effluents have been chemically characterized. effluent clarification by aggregation and settling in an attempt to simultaneously deplete heavy metal content was studied. settling experiments were carried out with coal suspensions, in order to evaluate the efficiency of inorganic and polymeric reagents in the process.
Chávez, Luz María Carvajal;Andrade, Denise de;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692005000700004
Abstract: the use of alcohol and drugs is a social issue that constitutes serious problem for the health, with personal, family and social consequences. the present study is exploratory-descriptive nature and its objective was to evaluate the primary school as a predicting factor in the prevention of the consumption of the school and tobacco in students. interviews to students and professors were made by a pre-established guide, the results demonstrate that the 66,6% age is of 10 to 11 years. exposed to factors of risks associated to scholastic problems, low self- esteem and familiar problems. research shows that 15,6% have experienced alcohol and the 13,4% tobacco. the professors say that the children do not consume alcohol, tobacco or drugs, they say the children have conduct problems.
Casierra-Posada Fanor,Lizarazo Luz Marina,Andrade Filho Galdino

Abstract: Two new benzodihydrofurans have been isolated from the resinous exudate of Diplostephium cinereum. Their structures were elucidated by high-resolution spectroscopic methods as 13-(2-methylpropanoyloxy)toxol (2) and 13-[(R)-3-hydroxy-3-phenylpropanoyloxy]toxol (3) Del exudado resinoso de Diplostephium cinereum, se han aislado dos benzodihidrofuranos.
Equivalence between discrete quantum walk models in arbitrary topologies
F. M. Andrade,M. G. E. da Luz
Physics , 2009, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.80.052301
Abstract: Coin and scattering are the two major formulations for discrete quantum walks models, each believed to have its own advantages in different applications. Although they are related in some cases, it was an open question their equivalence in arbitrary topologies. Here we present a general construction for the two models for any graph and also for position dependent transition amplitudes. We then prove constructively their unitary equivalence. Defining appropriate projector operators, we moreover show how to obtain the probabilities for one model from the evolution of the other.
Superdiffusivity of quantum walks: A Feynman sum-over-paths description
F. M. Andrade,M. G. E. da Luz
Physics , 2012, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.86.042309
Abstract: Quantum walks constitute important tools in different applications, especially in quantum algorithms. To a great extent their usefulness is due to unusual diffusive features, allowing much faster spreading than their classical counterparts. Such behavior, although frequently credited to intrinsic quantum interference, usually is not completely characterized. Using a recently developed Green's function approach [Phys. Rev. A {\bf 84}, 042343 (2011)], here it is described -- in a rather general way -- the problem dynamics in terms of a true sum over paths history a la Feynman. It allows one to explicit identify interference effects and also to explain the emergence of superdiffusivity. The present analysis has the potential to help in designing quantum walks with distinct transport properties.
Green function approach for scattering quantum walks
F. M. Andrade,M. G. E. da Luz
Physics , 2011, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.84.042343
Abstract: In this work a Green function approach for scattering quantum walks is developed. The exact formula has the form of a sum over paths and always can be cast into a closed analytic expression for arbitrary topologies and position dependent quantum amplitudes. By introducing the step and path operators, it is shown how to extract any information about the system from the Green function. The method relevant features are demonstrated by discussing in details an example, a general diamond-shaped graph.
