A mean-field Bak-Sneppen model with varying interaction strength

Abstract: We propose a mean-field Bak-Sneppen (MFBS) model with varying interaction strength. The interaction strength, here denoted by α, specifies the degree of interaction, and varies smoothly between 0 for no interaction and 1 for full interaction (restoring the original BS model). Our simulations of the MFBS model reveal some interesting features. When β is non-zero, the MFBS model can evolve to a self-organized critical (SOC) state. The critical exponent of the avalanche size distribution, τ, is insensitive to changes in α. The critical exponent of average avalanche size, γ, and the avalanche dimension exponent, D, both increase slightly with α < 0.5 but remain constant if α > 0.5. The critical threshold f c decreases almost linearly with α.

Abstract: Using cross-sectional survey data on prices, station and market characteristics for 730 gasoline stations in the Greater Saint Louis area, we estimate a switching regression model of station decisions. We employ a binary probit choice model to study a station’s decision to enter a contract relationship with greater control from the upstream refinery, or a contract relationship with greater degree of independence, as a function of market and station characteristics. We then estimate stations’ pricing decisions with self-selectivity corrections for the station’s contract decision. We show that incorrect inferences about retail gasoline station’s pricing behavior would result if the endogeneity in the choice of con-tract type were treated as exogenous condition in the estimation.

Abstract:

Considering a sequence of standardized stationary Gaussian random variables, a universal result in the almost sure central limit theorem for maxima and partial sum is established. Our result generalizes and improves that on the almost sure central limit theory previously obtained by Marcin Dudzinski [1]. Our result reaches the optimal form.

Study on the Online Travel Information Search: A Perspective of Social Media  [PDF]

Abstract: Social media is playing a more and more important role in the area of online information search. However, few studies are carried out about the matter in China. In the hope of contributing to the study of this subject, the author tends to explore the role of social media in online information search. This research simulates the user’s online travel information search behavior. The author uses Baidu as a search engine and adopts the way of “destination + keywords” as a search model to collect data. Content analysis and multivariate statistical analysis have been used to explore the meanings of the data. This paper finds that social media provides a variety of travel information sources for users, facilitates the restructuring of the tourism information structure and changes the dissemination pattern of the travel information. Countermeasures and suggestions are given on how to provide personalized search results for the online tourists, and how to play the advantages of social media to enhance the tourism enterprises market competitiveness in the future network era.

Abstract: The organoclay(TMT)-natural rubber(NR)nanocomposites were prepared by mixing intercalation method.The structure of organoclay was analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and FTIR.The heaf release rate and the smoke production of the TMT/NR nanocomposites are lower than those of montmorillonite/NR composites.The experimental flammability and mass loss curve were analyzed,and the flame retardant mechanism of TMT/NR was discussed.The results indicate that TMT/NR nanocomposites is a flame retardant and environmentally friend system.

Abstract: 采用羟基不饱和脂肪酸,通过固相法对硬脂酸改性的工业纳米碳酸钙CCR进行表面改性制备了R-CCR,红外光谱(FTIR)显示改性剂已结合在碳酸钙表面.通过熔融共混法制备了聚丙烯(PP)/乙丙橡胶(EPDM)/纳米碳酸钙二元和三元复合材料.并利用扫描电子显微镜(SEM)和透射电子显微镜(TEM)观察复合材料的微观形态,发现R-CCR的加入,使PP复合材料的拉伸断面出现明显的拉丝状结构和大面积的屈服变形,与PP/EPDM/CCR相比,PP/EPDM/R-CCR冲击断面的空穴明显增加并细化,R-CCR在PP基体中分散均匀,且界面模糊,与基体的相容性明显优于CCR.复合材料流变行为的研究表明R-CCR的加入,体系储存模量G′和损耗模量G″随频率的增加而增加,对损耗因子和复数粘度的影响不大;但PP/EPDM/R-CCR复合材料的表观粘度,明显低于PP/EPDM/CCR和纯PP,同时,剪切速率的增加可有效降低体系的表观粘度.力学性能表明,R-CCR对PP同时起到增韧和增强的效果.且R-CCR和EPDM对PP具有协同增韧的效果.在保持聚丙烯的模量和强度基本不变的前提下,大幅度的改善聚丙烯的韧性,同时加工性能保持不变.

Abstract: .7%;断裂伸长率由594%下降至493%,变化率缩小至17.0%,而纯NR的拉伸强度由22.0 Mpa下降至2.4 Mpa,变化率为89.1%;断裂伸长率由579%下降至168%,变化率为71.0%.扫描电镜分析表明,RH-CW与NR基体的界面相容性较CW改善.热重分析表明,CW的加入使NR的5%失重温度降低,但残重增加,微分曲线在520℃处出现了一个小峰,RH-CW的加入,使该峰变大,残重进一步增加.
Production Cost Optimization Model Based on CODP in Mass Customization

Abstract: The key for enterprises to implement the postponement strategy is the right decision on the location of Customer Order Decoupling Point (CODP) so as to achieve the scope economics of mass customization and scale economics of mass production fully. To deal with production cost optimization problem of postponement system based on various situation of CODP, a basic model of production cost and its M/M/1 extended model are proposed and compared so as to optimize the overall production cost of the postponement system. The production modes can be classified as MTS (make to stock), ATO (assemble to order), MTO (make to order) and ETO (engineering to order) according to the inventory location, and the postponed production system considered here includes manufacturing cost, semi-finished inventory cost and customer waiting cost caused by delaying delivery. By Matlab simulation, we can compute the optimal location of CODP in each production mode, which can provide some management insight for the manufacturer to decide the right production mode and utilize the resources efficiently.
Source Function Determined from HBT Correlations by the Maximum Entropy Principle

Abstract: We study the reconstruction of the source function in space-time directly from the measured HBT correlation function using the Maximum Entropy Principle. We find that the problem is ill-defined without at least one additional theoretical constraint as input. Using the requirement of a finite source lifetime for the latter we find a new Gaussian parametrization of the source function directly in terms of the measured HBT radius parameters and its lifetime, where the latter is a free parameter which is not directly measurable by HBT. We discuss the implications of our results for the remaining freedom in building source models consistent with a given set of measured HBT radius parameters.
Inflection point as a characteristic of the QCD critical point

Abstract: The appearance of the inflection point in the equation of state (EoS) is associated with the second order phase transition. The high cumulants of conserved quantities near the critical point are corresponding to the high derivatives of the EoS near the inflection point. The critical behavior of high cumulants of conserved charge near the QCD critical point, in particular, the sign change, is closely related to the appearance of inflection point. We show in general how the times of sign change of high cumulants relate to the order of derivative. We also demonstrate that the character of inflection point of EoS is as visible as the sign change of high cumulants in 3 systems, i.e., van der Waals equation of fluid, magnetization of spin models and the baryon number density of QCD matter. Therefore, we propose that the EoS, or the mean of baryon number density, should be measured and studied together with its higher cumulants in exploring QCD critical point in heavy ion collisions.
