Microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings

Abstract: Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings with different C quantities are deposited on Si(100) and high speed steel (W18Cr4V) substrates by the closed-field unbalanced reactive magnetron sputtering in the mixture of argon, nitrogen and acetylene gases. The microstructures of Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings are characterized by X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy; while the nanohardness and elastic modulus values are measured by the nano-indention method. The results indicate that in the studied composition range, the deposited Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings are found still only in the TiN base nanocrystalline. When the C2H2 flux is small, adding C can promote crystallization of Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings, and the grain can be increased to improve the mechanical properties, when the grain size of about 6 nm (C2H2 flux rate 2 cm3/min), hardness, elastic modulus and fracture toughness of Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coatings achieve the maximum, respectively, 35.7 GPa, 363.1 GPa and 2.46 MPa ·m1/2; the further increase of the C content of Ti-B-C-N nanocomposite coating can reduce mechanical properties of coating dramatically.
Experimental study on tar destruction in a two stage fixed-bed reactor

Abstract: Methods of thermal cracking,partial oxidation and char bed conversion on tar destruction has been investigated by a two stage fixed-bed reactor,effects of fuel type,temperature,residence time,char particle size and char type on tar destruction are considered.The result indicates that tar conversion efficiency increase with the second stage reactor temperature increasing in all three kinds of conversion methods.Partial oxidation and char bed conversion is more effective in tar destruction compared to thermal cracking.Associated with partial oxidation and thermal cracking,char bed can get least tar yield.Three kinds of biomass tar yield in the experimental condition of 1 000 ℃ is: rice straw 0.43%,corn straw 0.61% and fir sawdust 1.15%,and the corresponding tar conversion efficiency is 98.28%,97.23% and 96.29% respectively.Tar yield content of each conversion methods are decreasing with reactor temperature increase.It is really difficult to removal all tar completely in these experiments due to complex tar composition and experimental conditions.The results also show that biomass tar destruction feasibility are: rice straw > corn straw>fir sawdust,and on obvious diversity is obtained between different char species on tar destruction.

Electrical resistivity of a novel oxadiazole derivative as a function of pressure and temperature using a diamond anvil cell

Abstract: 利用金刚石对顶砧测量了恶二唑衍生物微晶, 1,4-bis(4-methyloxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl]- 2,5-bisheptyloxyphenylene (OXD-2), 电阻随压力和温度的变化关系,并利用有限元分析方法计算了样品的电阻率。实验中,测量压力和温度达到了16 GPa和150℃。样品的电阻率随着温度的升高而降低,说明样品表现出半导体传导特性。在90-100 ℃之间,样品的电阻率有一明显的下降,说明这时发生了温度诱导的相变。随着压力的增加,样品的电阻率在6GPa左右达到最大值,此后随着压力的增加而下降。结合原位x光数据,在6GPa左右的电阻突变应该是由于样品在压力的诱导下发生了无序化的相变。
Effects of high pressure on the Raman and fluorescence emission spectra of two novel 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives

Abstract: The effects of pressure on the fluorescence emission and Raman spectra of 1,4-bis(4-methyloxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl]- 2,5-bisheptyloxyphenylene (OXD-2) and on the fluorescence emission spectra of 1,4-bis(4-methylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl]phenylene (OXD-1) are investigated using a diamond anvil cell. With the increase of pressure, the intensity of the fluorescence emission increases and reaches maxima at 13GPa for OXD-1 and at 9.6GPa for OXD-2. The effect of pressure on the peak position of the emission shows a similar trend, red shift with the increase of pressure. But at higher pressures, the intensity of emission drops down dramatically. The Raman spectra of OXD-2 indicate that there appears a structural change at ca 3GPa.

Abstract: 生物质能是指利用自然界的植物、粪便以及城乡有机废物转化成的能源。生物质能是唯一的碳基可再生能源,燃用生物质燃料可以实现CO2净排放为零。生物质能的再利用十分有效,可以发电,可以合成新的化学物,还可以减少NOx、SOx及颗粒物排放。因此,生物质能是解决化石能源短缺和污染问题的主要可再生能源。

Abstract: In the title compound, [Ag(NO3)(C18H14N4)]n, the AgI atom is coordinated by two N atoms from two N,N′-bis(3-pyridylmethylidene)benzene-1,4-diamine (bpbd) molecules and two O atoms from a bidentate nitrate anion. The bpbd molecules bridge the Ag atoms into a chain. Two adjacent chains are further connected by Ag...Ag interactions [3.1631 (8) ], forming a double-chain structure. A π–π interaction [centroid–centroid distance = 3.758 (3) ] occurs between the double chains. Interchain C—H...O hydrogen bonds are observed.

Abstract: Image segmentation is still a crucial problem in image processing. It hasn yet been solved very well. In this study, we propose a novel multi-level thresholding image segmentation method based on PSNR using artificial bee colony algorithm (ABCA). PSNR is considered as an objective function of ABCA. The multi-level thresholds (t*1, t*2 ,...., t*n-1, t*n) are those maximizing the PSNR. We compare entropy and PSNR in segmenting gray-level images. The experiments results demonstrate proposed method is effective and efficient.
