Grid load balancing scheduling algorithm based on statistics thinking

Abstract: Aiming at the hierarchical grid model structure, following statistical thinking, this paper proposed a new resource allocation and task scheduling algorithm, which could not only increase the utilization of resources and system throughput, but also realize the load balancing within grid systems. This algorithm consisted of three main modules which were load tracking module, job distributing module and load monitoring module. On the basis of having explained the functions of the different functional parts and the relationships between them, gave the corresponding pseudo-code algorithms. The results of simulative experiments show that the algorithm is effective.
BinTree Seeking: A Novel Approach to Mine Both Bi-Sparse and Cohesive Modules in Protein Interaction Networks

Abstract: Modern science of networks has brought significant advances to our understanding of complex systems biology. As a representative model of systems biology, Protein Interaction Networks (PINs) are characterized by a remarkable modular structures, reflecting functional associations between their components. Many methods were proposed to capture cohesive modules so that there is a higher density of edges within modules than those across them. Recent studies reveal that cohesively interacting modules of proteins is not a universal organizing principle in PINs, which has opened up new avenues for revisiting functional modules in PINs. In this paper, functional clusters in PINs are found to be able to form unorthodox structures defined as bi-sparse module. In contrast to the traditional cohesive module, the nodes in the bi-sparse module are sparsely connected internally and densely connected with other bi-sparse or cohesive modules. We present a novel protocol called the BinTree Seeking (BTS) for mining both bi-sparse and cohesive modules in PINs based on Edge Density of Module (EDM) and matrix theory. BTS detects modules by depicting links and nodes rather than nodes alone and its derivation procedure is totally performed on adjacency matrix of networks. The number of modules in a PIN can be automatically determined in the proposed BTS approach. BTS is tested on three real PINs and the results demonstrate that functional modules in PINs are not dominantly cohesive but can be sparse. Abstract: Cell-PLoc 2.0 is a package of web-servers evolved from Cell-PLoc (Chou, K.C. & Shen, H.B., Nature Protocols, 2008, 2:153-162) by a top-down approach to improve the power for predicting subcellular localization of proteins in various organisms. It contains six predictors: Euk-mPLoc 2.0, Hum-mPLoc 2.0, Plant-mPLoc, Gpos-mPLoc, Gneg-mPLoc, and Virus-mPLoc, specialized for eukaryotic, human, plant, Gram- positive bacterial, Gram-negative bacterial, and virus proteins, respectively. Compared with Cell-PLoc, the predictors in the Cell-PLoc 2.0 have the following advantageous features: (1) they all have the capacity to deal with the multiplex proteins that can simultaneiously exist, or move between, two or more subcellular location sites; (2) no accession number is needed for the input of a query protein even if using the “high- level” GO (gene ontology) prediction engine; (3) the functional domain information and sequential evolution information are fused into the “ab initio” sequence-based prediction engine to enhance its accuracy. In this protocol, a step- to-step guide is provided for how to use the web server predictors in the Cell-PLoc 2.0 package, which is freely accessible to the public at http://www.csbio.sjtu.edu.cn/bioinf/Cell-PLoc-2/.

Abstract: Recent advance in large-scale genome se-quencing has generated a huge volume of pro-tein sequences. In order to timely utilize the in-formation hidden in these newly discovered sequences, it is highly desired to develop com- putational methods for efficiently identifying their various attributes because the information thus obtained will be very useful for both basic research and drug development. Particularly, it would be even more useful and welcome if a user-friendly web-server could be provided for each of these methods. In this minireview, a sy- stematic introduction is presented to highlight the development of these web-servers by our group during the last three years.

Abstract: This paper analyses the ultimate reason of files blabbing in the Intranet,which deal with the relationship between files and neglect the connection between users. It describes the relationship between files by file lineage,and measures the connection between users by affinity degree of roles,and divides the confidentiality of files by security degree.This paper puts forward a method of authorization checkup through two layers (corporation level and department level),which is used to implement the files authorization and auditing safely in the Intranet.
The Size Distribution of Dust Aerosol Particles in Onqin Daga Sandland

Abstract: Onqin Daga Sandland is one of important sources of dust aerosol in China. But it is very short of observation and research on the size distribution characteristics of dust aerosol from this region up to now. The size distribution of dust aerosol has been measured by PMS Fssp-100 in the Onqin Daga Sandland of the Inner Monoglia Autonomous Region of China between 30 April and 10 May 2001. A lot of data have been collected under different weather conditions such as fine, sand-blowing and sandstorm and so on. The rules of dust aerosol particle size distribution are found through statistical analysis. The results show that the dust size distributions are two-mode logarithm normal in dust storms and one-mode logarithm normal in fine or sand-blowing days. This result is quite useful to simulate radiation forcing and climate effects driven by dust aerosol in climate models.

Human falling detection based on accelerometer

Abstract: In order to lessen the injury of elder people caused by falling, and to recognize falling timely and effectively, this paper proposed a method to identify human falling based on a tri-axis accelerometer. It put the accelerometer on the waist to collect the changing data of acceleration from human motions, trained the parameters of HMM by using the data from activities in daily life. By making use of the special characteristic of few activities of elder people, it detected suspected falling according to the matching degree between observation data and HMM. And then, it calculated body tile angle in a short time to detect human lying, which helped to complete the recognition. This method solved the problem of the inadequate training samples of falling data in daily life and improved the distinction of some similar behaviours. Simulation results show that this method can not only effectively identify human falling, but also improve the accurate rate.
