Modified LS Method for Unconstrained Optimization  [PDF]
Jinkui Liu, Li Zheng
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/am.2011.26104
Abstract: In this paper, a new conjugate gradient formula and its algorithm for solving unconstrained optimization problems are proposed. The given formula satisfies with satisfying the descent condition. Under the Grippo-Lucidi line search, the global convergence property of the given method is discussed. The numerical results show that the new method is efficient for the given test problems.
The Best m-Term One-Sided Approximation of Besov Classes by the Trigonometric Polynomials  [PDF]
Rensuo Li, Yongping Liu
Advances in Pure Mathematics (APM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/apm.2012.23025
Abstract: In this paper, we continue studying the so called best m-term one-sided approximation and Greedy-liked one-sided ap- proximation by the trigonometric polynomials. The asymptotic estimations of the best m-terms one-sided approximation by the trigonometric polynomials on some classes of Besov spaces in the metricLp(Td(1≤p≤∞ are given.
Empirical Study on the Impact of User Participation on Service Value  [PDF]
Biao Liu, Dong Li
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2012.52017
Abstract: As enterprise systems (ES) becomes increasingly pervasive and commoditized in organizations, its service value emerges as a critical issue. Drawing on the customer value theory, this paper studies the relationship between user participation and service value of enterprise systems in the stage of enterprise system improvement. A survey of 220 employees in a large-scale industrial enterprise was taken to investigate the relationship between them. User participation has direct positive impacts on service value in the process of system improvement. Furthermore, information service quality and non-monetary sacrifice serve as mediating variables of the relationship between user participation in system improvement and service value even after controlling for individual variables such as users’ age, education, and IT-related education. This paper contributes to the theory on whether user participation matters in the process of enterprise system improvement. The findings can also encourage managerial practitioners to exploit user participation in organizations, in order to enhance service value of enterprise system.
The Many-on-One Stochastic Duel Model with Information-Sharing  [PDF]
Jianjun Li, Liwei Liu
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/am.2012.36097
Abstract: In this paper we extend the one-on-one stochastic duel model with searching to the many-on-one case based on information-sharing. We have derived the probability density function of the time to kill the target in many-on-one model. It is illustrated by an example in which the firing time and the searching time are of different exponential distributions.

Qiming Liu, Shaoning Li
Int'l J. of Communications, Network and System Sciences (IJCNS) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ijcns.2012.512085
Abstract: Sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence and global exponential stability of periodic solutions of a Cohen-Grossberg-type BAM neural network are established by suitable mathematical transformation.
Existence and Uniqueness of Positive Solutions for a Coupled System of Nonlinear Fractional Differential Equations  [PDF]
Minjie Li, Yiliang Liu
Open Journal of Applied Sciences (OJAppS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojapps.2013.31B1011
Abstract:

In this paper, we research the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for a coupled system of fractional differential equations. By means of some standard fixed point principles, some results on the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions for coupled systems are obtained.

The Formation of Lee Reversal Flow and Moisture Distribution Effect on the Characteristics of Precipitation  [PDF]
Jinqing Liu, Ziliang Li
Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (ACS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/acs.2013.32023
Abstract:

Moist flow over a bell-shaped mountain is investigated using the advanced regional prediction system (ARPS). Three closely related issues are addressed: the upslope precipitation mechanism, periodic evolution of precipitation associated with mountain waves, and lee precipitation induced by reversal flow. The results show that precipitation is strongly the moist distribution and terrain scale dependent. Beginning with the case of uniformly stratified flow over mountain, upslope precipitation and lee wave precipitation pattern are obtained. Most importantly, lee precipitation induced by reversal flow can be caused by layered flow over mountain, wherein lee reversal flow exerts a significant influence on the orographic precipitation.

An Improved SPIHT Algorithm for Image Compression in Low Bit Rate  [PDF]
Ping Liu, Guanfeng Li
Communications and Network (CN) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/cn.2013.53B2045
Abstract: Aiming at shortage of the SPIHT algorithm, an improved image compression algorithm is proposed, in order to overcome the shortcomings of decoding image quality and coding time, LS9/7 lifting wavelet transform is adopted. According to the characteristics of the human visual system (HVS), the scanning mode and the method to determine the threshold of algorithm are changed to improve the quality of reconstruction image. On the question of repeating scan of SPIHT algorithm, using maximum list thought, greatly reduce the computation and save operating time. The experimental results have proved that the improved algorithm of image decoding time and the quality of reconstruction images are better than the original algorithm , especially in the case of low bit rate.
Convergence Theorems for k-Strictly Pseudononspreading Multivalued in Hilbert Spaces  [PDF]
Hongbo Liu, Yi Li
Advances in Pure Mathematics (APM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/apm.2014.47042
Abstract:

We introduce a k-strictly pseudononspreading multivalued in Hilbert spaces more general than the class of nonspreading multivalued. We establish some weak convergence theorems of the sequences generated by our iterative process. Some new iterative sequences for finding a common element of the set of solutions for equilibrium problem was introduced. The results improve and extend the corresponding results of Osilike Isiogugu [1] (Nonlinear Anal.74 (2011)) and others.

Convergence Theorem of Hybrid Iterative Algorithm for Equilibrium Problems and Fixed Point Problems of Finite Families of Uniformly Asymptotically Nonexpansive Semigroups  [PDF]
Hongbo Liu, Yi Li
Advances in Pure Mathematics (APM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/apm.2014.46033
Abstract:

Throughout this paper, we introduce a new hybrid iterative algorithm for finding a common element of the set of common fixed points of a finite family of uniformly asymptotically nonexpansive semigroups and the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem in the framework of Hilbert spaces. We then prove the strong convergence theorem with respect to the proposed iterative algorithm. Our results in this paper extend and improve some recent known results.
