A Survey of Internal Governance in Family Business  [PDF]

Abstract: Family businesses play an important role in the global economic environment. In China, more than 90% of them use family management or family organization. This shows that family-owned companies are playing a decisive role in China’s economy. However, with regard to the current development situation, the development status of family-owned enterprises is not optimistic, and the average life expectancy is only 5 years. Facts have proved that internal governance is the key point for the steady development of family-owned enterprises. Internal governance supervision, as an important component of the five elements of internal control, is related to whether the internal management of a family-owned company can be implemented steadily and effectively. Therefore, a sound internal governance supervision system is the key point for whether the family business can survive in the modern economic competitive environment. This review points out the disadvantages of the family business and points out the new direction for the follow-up family business research that applies to the internal governance supervision model of the family business.

Abstract: This paper concerns the orbital stability for exact solitary waves of the Generalized Klein-Gordon-Schrod-inger equations. Since the abstract results of Grillakis et al[1-2] can not be applied directly, we can extend the abstract stability theory and use the detailed spectral analysis to obtain the stability of the solitary waves.

Analysis of major herbs in Chinese herbal formula Jianpi Huoxue Decoction for improving intestinal permeability based on uniform design

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the herbal medicines which play a main role in Chinese herbal formula Jianpi Huoxue Decoction for improving intestinal permeability and protect alcohol-induced liver injury and intestine damage, and to explore the analysis method for the material base of pharmacological effects of the Chinese herbal compound. Methods: Sprague Dawley rats were given Lieber-DeCarli ethanol liquid diet once daily for 6 weeks to induce alcoholic liver injury. In step one, U17(1716) table of uniform design was adopted to design the experiment and the eight herbs of Jianpi Huoxue Decoction were screened to seek the herbs which play the main role. Three and a half hours before the rats were killed, each rat was administered lipopolysaccharide once, then blood sample was collected from portal vein and endotoxin content in plasma was detected as the index of intestinal permeability. The data were analyzed by stepwise regression to find the herbal drugs which had the best effects and the compatibility ratio of these drugs. In step two, the rats with Lieber-DeCarli liquid diet-induced liver injury were divided into four groups to test and verify the results.Results: According to the obtained regression equation, Rasux Paeoniae Alba (Baishao), Rhizoma Alismatis (Zexie) and Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (Wuweizi) were the main herbal drugs in Jianpi Huoxue Decoction in improving intestinal permeability, and the doses for rats were 1.33, 0.50 and 0.17 g/kg respectively. In the verification experiment, combination of Baishao, Zexie and Wuweizi significantly decreased the endotoxin level in plasma of rats with Lieber-DeCarli-induced liver injury and showed reliability. Conclusion: Baishao, Zexie and Wuweizi are the major herbs of Jianpi Huoxue Decoction for improving intestinal permeability. Uniform design is efficient in screening the major herbs or their optimal combination in a certain Chinese compound.

$(k,s)$-positivity and vanishing theorems for compact Kahler manifolds

Abstract: We study the $(k,s)$-positivity for holomorphic vector bundles on compact complex manifolds. $(0,s)$-positivity is exactly the Demailly $s$-positivity and a $(k,1)$-positive line bundle is just a $k$-positive line bundle in the sense of Sommese. In this way we get a unified theory for all kinds of positivities used for semipositive vector bundles. Several new vanishing theorems for $(k,s)$-positive vector bundles are proved and the vanishing theorems for $k$-ample vector bundles on projective algebraic manifolds are generalized to $k$-positive vector bundles on compact K\"ahler manifolds.

Abstract: We prove that if $B$ is a $k$-positive holomorphic line bundle on a compact hyperk\"ahler manifold $M,$ then $H^p (M,\Omega^q\otimes B)=0$ for $p>n+[\frac{k}{2}]$ and any nonnegative integer $q.$ In a special case $k=0$ and $q=0$ we recover a vanishing theorem of Verbitsky's with a little stronger assumption.

Abstract: We prove that any holomorphic Poisson manifold has an open symplectic leaf which is a pseudo-K\"ahler submanifold, and we define an obstruction to study the equivariance of momentum map for tangential Poisson action. Some properties of almost homogeneous Poisson manifolds are studied and we show that any compact symplectic Poisson homogeneous space is a torus bundle over a dressing orbit.
Effects of Yttrium Doping on the Performance of Ru-Based Catalysts for Hydrogenation of Fatty Acid Methyl Ester  [PDF]

Abstract: The highly dispersed supported ruthenium-yttrium (Ru-Y) bimetallic catalysts were prepared by impregnation method and their catalytic performance for hydrogenation of ester was fully investigated. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the average particle diameter of the bimetallic crystallites was less than 10 nm. The effects of the reaction temperature, the hydrogen pressure, the amount of catalyst and the proportion of yttrium in catalyst on the hydrogenation of ester were studied. The experimental results show that the introduction of yttrium not only changed the chemical and textural properties of ruthenium-based catalyst but also controlled the formation of Ru-Y alloy. The Ru-Y catalyst (Ru-2%Y/TiO2) exhibited high catalytic activity and good selectivity towards the higher alcohols. Under optimal reaction conditions of 240°C and 5 MPa hydrogen pressure, the conversion of palm oil esters was above 93.4% while the selectivity towards alcohol was above 99.0%.
