A Condensed Gas-Phase Chemical Model and Its Application

Abstract: Using the "lumped mechanism" and "counting species" methods, we developed a condensed gas-phasechemical model based on a simplified one. The modified quasi-steady-state approximation (QSSA) schemeand the error redistribution mass conservation technique are adopted to solve the atmospheric chemistry kinetic equations. Results show that the condensed model can well simulate concentration variations of gasspecies such as SO2, NOx, O3, H2O2 and conversion rates of SO2 and NOx transformation to H2SO4 andHNO3. These results are in good agreement with those from the simplified model. The conversion rates ofSO2 and NOx under different initial concentrations and meteorological conditions are computed, and theresults can be directly applied to regional acid deposition model.

Abstract: The conventional atmospheric dispersion models used in China (CRADM), America (HPDM) and Canada (AMS) are investigated. The main differences between the three models are described, and the various aspects of CRADM, HPDM and AMS for same input are compared and discussed. Some problems in application of atmos-pheric dispersion models lo environmental impact assessment are analyzed and suggestions for rivision are proposed. Results show that the Briggs plume rise formula in neutral condition overestimates the real rise due to the fact that the accumulative effect of ambient turbulence on plume is not considered in his model.

Abstract: 本文描述了基于PIC方法的三维大气扩散粒子分裂(ADPS)模式,并用解析解和1988年的广州地区现场观测资料验证了本模式.模式根据局地均匀和定常假设引入大粒子概念、烟团扩散原理和大粒子分裂技术,并运用了嵌套网格.ADPS模式用于模拟气态污染物在大气中的散布,同时也具备模拟TSP扩散的效能.

Abstract: 通过对对流边界层(CBL)湍流结构的分析,首次提出用两种不同尺度的湍流模拟CBL中的铅直扩散.在此基础上发展了一个随机扩散模式,并用它模拟了典型对流条件下两种高架连续点源的扩散.与Willis水槽模拟和Lamb等人数值模拟以及CONDORS计划外场试验的结果的比较表明,本模式能成功地模拟CBL中的横向积分浓度.与其它数值模式相比,还具有输入参数少、计算量极小和更加简单实用的优点.

Abstract: A 3-D time-dependent Eulerian regional acid pollutant deposition model is constructed.The model consists of six submodels, i.e. source emission, advection transport, turbulence diffusion, dry deposition, gaseous chemistry, aqueous chemistry and wet scavenging. With regard to the computing condition and the needs for application,we design the model as simply as possible by considering the key processes of the acid deposition. Compared with the study done before, the model is developed in several aspects, such as dry deposition, gaseous chemistry, aqueous chemistry and wet scavenging.
The Simulation of Vertical Diffusion for the Surface Release in the Convective Boundary Layer

Abstract: It was found that the mode of maximum concentration descended for the elevated releases, bot lifted for the near-surface releases in the convective boundary layer (CBL). The mechanism which causes this oposite geometric figures is analysed. It is believed that either the diffusion of elevated releases or that of near surface releases can be simulated by a same random diffusion model, provided the characteristics of the vertical turbulence in the CBL can be simulated properly. Therefore, the model used to simulate the diffusion of elevated releases by authors before is used to the simulation of near-surface releases, and the satisfactory result is obtained as well. This confirms the effectiveness of the model further. The model is examined by the Thomson's criteria. The theoretical reasonableness and the application limits of the model is discussed.

Abstract: A Three-Dimensional Particle-Splitting Model for Atmospheric Dispersion (ADPS Model) which is based on the PIC method is described and tested with the analytical solutions and the data obtained in Guangzhou region in 1988 . The model introduces the nested grid capability and big particle definition , puff diffusion theorem and particle-Splitting technique under the assumption of the local time-independent and local spatial uniform. The model is used to simulate atmospheric dispersion of gaseous pollutant and also has the ability to simulate the TSP dispersion .
A random walk diffusion model in the convective boundary layer

Abstract: After analysing the structure of turbulence in convective boundary layer (CBL), it is first suggested that the vertical diffusion in CBL can be simulated by turbulence on two different scales, and then a simple random walk diffusion model for CBL is developed. Two cases of elevated continuous point sources in a typical convective condition are simulated in comparison with the Willis and Deardorff water tank modelling, Lamb's numerical simulation, and CONDORS field experiments. We are confident that the model can successfully simulate the cross-wind integrated concentration distribution in CBL, and that our model has advantages of using less input parameters, much short computation time and is more suitable for practical uses.
An Analytic Model Considering Dissipation of Momentum and Buyancy Flux for Plume Rise

Abstract: Ambient turbulence has an important effect on plume rise. in this paper, considering the dissipation of plume momentum and buoyancy by ambient turbulence, we derive the governing equation of the bent-voer plume and give the trajectory equation and the final rise height formula of buoyant plume under neutral conditions. Near the stack, the trajectory equation is approximately the two-thirds law,whereas as the downwind distance becomes larger, the trajectory is depart from that the law appreciably and levels off gradually. Compared to the field experiments, this model simulates well the final rise as well as the trajectory of buoyant plumes.

Abstract: 利用建立的区域酸性污染物沉降模式,配合中尺度模式MM4预报的气象场,以1991年6月12~14日淮河流域的一次降雨过程作为实例,对我国东半部及其相邻地区的酸沉降进行了数值模拟和试验研究。结果表明,模式基本上能够模拟出区域酸性沉降的特征,具有良好的综合模拟性能和广阔的应用前景。
