Methanol Electro-Oxidation on Pt-Ru Alloy Nanoparticles Supported on Carbon Nanotubes
Liang Li,Yangchuan Xing
Energies , 2009, DOI: 10.3390/en20300789
Abstract: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been investigated in recent years as a catalyst support for proton exchange membrane fuel cells. Improved catalyst activities were observed and attributed to metal-support interactions. We report a study on the kinetics of methanol electro-oxidation on CNT supported Pt-Ru alloy nanoparticles. Alloy catalysts with different compositions, Pt 53Ru 47/CNT, Pt 69Ru 31/CNT and Pt 77Ru 23/CNT, were prepared and investigated in detail. Experiments were conducted at various temperatures, electrode potentials, and methanol concentrations. It was found that the reaction order of methanol electro-oxidation on the PtRu/CNT catalysts was consistent with what has been reported for PtRu alloys with a value of 0.5 in methanol concentrations. However, the electro-oxidation reaction on the PtRu/CNT catalysts displayed much lower activation energies than that on the Pt-Ru alloy catalysts unsupported or supported on carbon black (PtRu/CB). This study provides an overall kinetic evaluation of the PtRu/CNT catalysts and further demonstrates the beneficial role of CNTs.
Interpretation and preliminary simulation of the 40 ka periodicity of the Quaternary glaciation
Nan Li,Xing Chen
Chinese Science Bulletin , 2007, DOI: 10.1007/s11434-007-0318-6
Abstract: More and more proxy records approved that the periodicity of the glacial cycles is about 40 ka before MPT (middle Pleistocene transition) as early as late Tertiary from 3.0 Ma to 0.9 Ma, whereas it changes to about 100 ka after MPT. Summer insolation at high latitude in Northern Hemisphere, usually considered as the main external force for the ice age, is dominated by the 23 ka precession period, which does not match the period of the glacial cycles. In this paper, we define an energy index C and its threshold Ct that indicate the net energy supply and the overall response of the climate system. The difference between these two parameters determines whether the ice sheet melts or not, and accordingly the start and termination of the interglacial stages, as well as the periodicity of glacial oscillations. Based on the energy threshold hypothesis, the preliminary simulation experiments are made to test the period of the glacial cycles and driven factors from a conceptual model. The results indicate that energy index C and threshold Ct can interpret not only the 40 ka periodicity before MPT, but also the quasi-100 ka periodicity after MPT to some extent, and the 40 ka is the basic period of the glacial cycles, which discloses the inherent continuity of climatic change before and after MPT.
Performance Analysis of Spatial Reused Bandwidth Reservation in Ad Hoc Networks
Yuan Li,Xing Luo
International Journal of Information Technology and Computer Science , 2010,
Abstract: in this paper, an approach for spatial reused bandwidth reservation in ad hoc networks is proposed. Resource reservation in wireless networks is an essential component that is needed to support multimedia and real-time applications, such as audio/video conferencing. On the other hand, directional antenna technology provides the capability for considerable increase in spatial reuse, which increases the efficiency of communication. In our approach for spatial reused bandwidth reservation, the source node tries to discover multiple node-disjoint paths that are capable of satisfing the desired Quality of Service (QoS) requirement in ad hoc networks using directional antennas. The simulation result shows the performance of this spatial reused bandwidth reservation approach. There is a significant gain in the performance with a decrease in the number of paths, as well as an increase in the percentage of successfully received data packets and reservation success rate.
A new efficient 2D combined with 3D CAD system for solitary pulmonary nodule detection in CT images

Abstract: Lung cancer has become one of the leading causes of death in the world. Clear evidence shows that early discovery, early diagnosis and early treatment of lung cancer can significantly increase the chance of survival for patients. Lung Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) is a potential method to accomplish a range of quantitative tasks such as early cancer and disease detection. Many computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) methods, including 2D and 3D approaches, have been proposed for solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs). However, the detection and diagnosis of SPNs remain challenging in many clinical circumstances. One goal of this work is to develop a two-stage approach that combines the simplicity of 2D and the accuracy of 3D methods. The experimental results show statistically signi cant differences between the diagnostic accuracy of 2D and 3Dmethods. The results also show that with a very minor drop in diagnostic performance the two-stage approach can signi cantly reduce the number of nodules needed to be processed by the 3D method, streamlining the computational demand. Finally, all malignant nodules were detected and a very low false-positive detection rate was achieved. The automated extraction of the lung in CT images is the most crucial step in a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system. In this paper we describe a method, consisting of appropriate techniques, for the automated identification of the pulmonary volume. The performance is evaluated as a fully automated computerized method for the detection of lung nodules in computed tomography (CT) scans in the identification of lung cancers that may be missed during visual interpretation.

Adaptive-Resonance-Theory Training Algorithm for Image Based on Single Training Example
Ning Chen,Xing Li
Information Technology Journal , 2012,
Abstract: Under the limitation of cost and external condition, training example set cannot be large enough to satisfy requirement, moreover, single training example frequently exists. Therefore, this study introduces a multi-resolution pyramid algorithm into image process, which can transform single training example to a series of low-resolution sub-images as training example set to train attention mechanism of Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART), a fact that accord with theory of visual perceive, i.e., adjusting attention focus to implement visual perceive from coarse to fine. Moreover, with cooperation of polynomial spline algorithm, multi-resolution pyramid algorithm will lead to great efficiency and low complexity.
Performance Analysis of QoS Multicast Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using Directional Antennas

International Journal of Computer Network and Information Security , 2010,
Abstract: in this paper, a quality of service (QoS) multicast routing protocol in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) by using directional antennas has been presented. Many important applications, such as audio/video conferencing, require the quality of service guarantee. Directional antenna technology provides the capability for considerable increase in spatial reuse, which increases the efficiency of communication. This paper studies TDMA-based timeslot allocation and directional antennas, and presents an effective algorithm for calculating bandwidth of a multicast tree. We also propose a novel on-demand QoS multicasting routing algorithm in TDMA-based mobile ad hoc networks using directional antennas. The simulation result shows the performance of this QoS multicast routing algorithm in TDMA-based mobile ad hoc networks using directional antennas.
The Strategy of Talent Localization in Multinational Corporations

International Journal of Business and Management , 2010, DOI: 10.5539/ijbm.v5n12p216
Abstract: With China's accession to WTO, a large number of multinational companies enter into Chinese market. It’s necessary for multinational Corporations to carry out the the Strategy of Talent Localization. The localization of talents is propitious to eliminate the cultural barriers in cross-border operations, and save the Economic cost as well. However, there are also some problems in the process of localization of multinational talent. This article mainly discuss some of the problems of the the localization of talents, aiming to find some suitable solutions.
