Effects of Shenqi Jiedu Decoction on expressions of transforming growth factor-β1, smad2 and smad3 in renal tissues of rats with chronic renal failure induced by adenine

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effects of Shenqi Jiedu Decoction (SQJDD), a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, on expressions of transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-β1), smad2 and smad3 proteins in renal tissues of rats with chronic renal failure (CRF) induced by adenine, and to explore the mechanisms of SQJDD in treating CRF. Methods: Ninety healthy Wistar male rats were randomly divided into six groups: normal group, untreated group, losartan group, low-dose SQJDD group, medium-dose SQJDD group, and high-dose SQJDD group. Rat model of CRF was established by feeding 2.5% adenine. Levels of plasma creatinine (Cr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in different groups after model establishment were detected to estimate the renal function of rats with CRF. After eight-week treatment, levels of Cr, BUN, triacylglycerol (TAG), cholesterol (Chol) and albumin (ALB) in plasma were detected. Pathological changes of renal tissues were observed by HE staining. Protein expressions of TGF-β1, Smad2 and Smad3 in renal tissues were detected by Western blotting. Results: Compared with pretreatment, levels of Cr and BUN in the losartan group and the SQJDD groups were markedly decreased (P<0.01). After treatment, levels of Cr, BUN and Chol in all treated groups were lower than those in the untreated group (P<0.01, P<0.05). Levels of ALB in all treated groups were higher than that in the untreated group (P<0.01). Pathological lesions of renal tissues in all treated groups were lessened as compared with the untreated group (P<0.01). The Western blotting results showed that the protein expressions of TGF-β1, Smad2 and Smad3 in renal tissues in all treated groups were lower than those in the untreated group (P<0.01). Conclusion: SQJDD can delay the progress of CRF by inhibiting TGF-β1/Smads signal transduction pathway.

Abstract: 提出一种新的基于空间特征的图像特征描述子SCH,利用基于颜色向量角和欧几里得距离的MCVAE算法共同检测原始彩色图像边缘,同时利用一种新的"最大最小分量颜色不变量模型"对原始图像量化,对边缘像素建立边缘相关矩阵;对非边缘像素使用颜色直方图描述局部颜色分布信息;然后,利用新的sin相似性度量法则衡量图像特征间的相似度.实验采用VC 6.0开发了基于内容的图像检索原型系统"SttImageRetrieval",基于Oracle 9i数据库建立了一个综合型图像数据库"IMAGEDB".实验分析结果证明,利用SCH描述子的检索准确度明显高于仅基于颜色统计特征的检索结果.

Abstract: A blinded retrospective validation study was performed in a university-based hospital in northeastern China to determine whether the breast imaging reporting and data system (BI- RADS) defines a group of patients with non- palpable breast lesions (NPBLs) in whom fine- wire localization biopsy (FWLB) is appropriate. We reviewed 182 consecutive patients with NPBLs who underwent FWLB. The patients’ preoperative mammograms were categorized according BI-RADS by 2 radiologists blinded to the pathological findings. The positive predictive values of BI-RADS categories 3-5 were 3.4%, 42.1%, and 76.9%, respectively. For category 4 NPBLs, the percentage of cancer for those aged < 40 years was significantly lower than those aged ≥ 40 years. For category 3 NPBLs, the percentage of precancerous lesions for those aged < 40 years was significantly lower than those aged ≥ 40 years. Chinese NPBL patients aged ≥ 40 years with category 4 mammographic findings, and all patients with category 5 findings should undergo FWLB. FWLB should be offered as a treatment option for Chinese NPBL patients aged < 40 years with category 4 findings or aged ≥ 40 years with category 3 findings.
Synthesis and DNA interaction of a Sm(III) complex of a Schiff base derived from vanillin and L-tryptophan

Abstract: The interaction between the Sm(III) complex of an ionic Schiff base [HL]-, derived from vanillin and L-tryptophan, and herring sperm DNA at physiological pH (7.40) has been studied by UV-Vis absorption, fluorescence and viscosity methods. The binding ratios nSm(III) : nK[HL] = 1:1 and nSm(III)L: nDNA =5:1 were confirmed by a mole ratio method. The calculated binding constants of [Sm(III)L]+with DNA at 25 and 37oC were 1.19 × 105 M-1and 3.96 × 104 M-1, respectively. The thermodynamic parameters demonstrate that the interaction between [Sm(III)L]+ and DNA is driven mainly by enthalpy. Fluorimetric studies show that [Sm(III)L]+ is able to displace intercalated acridine orange. Combined with Scatchard methods, circular dichroism spectroscopy and viscosity measurements, the results indicate that the interaction between [Sm(III)L]+ and herring sperm DNA is mainly by intercalation with some groove binding. Abstract: Molt Inhibiting Hormone (MIH) is a neuropeptide member belonging to the eyestalk CHH family. It is a multifunctional protein, playing a major role in the molting activity of shrimp. MIH gene is one of the candidate genes for detecting polymorphisms associated with the growth traits. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of the MIH gene 3 exons on white shrimp growth traits. Primers for the 3 exons of MIH gene were designed from shrimp genomic sequences. Polymorphism was detected by DNA sequencing and the PCR-SSCP method was developed to genotype 340 samples.

Abstract: The alternate combinational approach of genetic algorithm and neural network (AGANN) has been presented to correct the systematic error of the density functional theory (DFT) calculation. It treats the DFT as a black box and models the error through external statistical information. As a demonstration, the AGANN method has been applied in the correction of the lattice energies from the DFT calculation for 72 metal halides and hydrides. Through the AGANN correction, the mean absolute value of the relative errors of the calculated lattice energies to the experimental values decreases from 4.93% to 1.20% in the testing set. For comparison, the neural network approach reduces the mean value to 2.56%. And for the common combinational approach of genetic algorithm and neural network, the value drops to 2.15%. The multiple linear regression method almost has no correction effect here.

Abstract: This paper proposed a method for object detection based on morphological opening-and-closing operation and gradient optimization. Firstly, applied morphological opening-and-closing operation to smooth the original image. Secondly, in order to avoid overmuch segmented region, used threshold-value processing to gradient image before being segmented. Thirdly, applied watershed algorithm to detect object from SPOT image. At last, used object character such as area and space relationship to remove a few wrong objects from segmented results. Experimental results show that the new method may gain very good performance.

Abstract: This paper discussed realizing junk mail Categorization System by a Hybrid Algorithm and implementing in Visual Basic 6.0 on Windows platform.This system worked on mail client and resolved based mail content. Relativing to junk mail Categorization System which only made use of single classifier, this system could classify mail effectivly and efficiently ,at the same time this system could improve precision of classifying mail and reduce miscarriage of justice ratio.
