How to Save Brand after Crises? A Literature Review on Brand Crisis Management  [PDF]

Abstract: In recent years, brand crises are becoming increasingly prevalent in the global marketplace. Given that brand crises have many devastating effects, how to manage them effectively has become a hot topic among marketing researchers and practitioners. Based on the review of literatures concerned, this paper first analysed the concept and types of brand crises. Then this article summarized the response strategies that corporations can take during that hard time. Furthermore, this paper identified some factors that influence the effectiveness of those response strategies. Given all of this, the review highlights some promising directions for future research.

Abstract: This paper gives a general thinking for service branding through the perspective of value co-creation orientation. Firstly, the paper reviews the background of service branding from service marketing and product brand. And then the paper discusses the process of service branding in ways of different models. The perspective of value co-creation orientation comes from S-D logic. Based on the changing from goods dominant logic to S-D logic, service branding process has been changed into different parts. We have a further discussion on this perspective and give some further research directions in order to enrich this area.

Abstract: With the constantly changing surroundings and highly developed technology, brand crisis accordingly shows the increasing trend, which took a lot of companies by surprise and made them especially hard-hit. In brand crisis companies usually adopt an apology, compensation, denied and silent strategy to cope with consumers, hoping to be able to get consumers to forgive and repair the damaged brand relationship. This work firstly put forward a concept “reparability of brand crisis”, which should be defined to judge how an enterprise could be repaired from a brand crisis, and selected crisis processing capacity index to build up impact model about how enterprise’s crisis processing capacity affected the degree of brand crisis reparability.

Abstract: Dedifferentiation, as one of the mechanisms rerouting cell fate, regresses cells from a differentiated status to a more primitive one. Due to its potential of amplifying the stem/progenitor cell pool and reproducing sizable and desirable cellular elements, it has been attended in the field of regenerative medicine, which will hopefully provide novel therapeutic strategies for currently incurable diseases, such as varieties of central nervous system (CNS) diseases and injuries. In this article, we will first discuss naturally occurring and experimentally induced dedifferentiation, and then set forth principles in stem-cell based therapy in the neural field; beyond that, we will introduce two recent studies that show dedifferentiated stem cells contribute to neural regeneration. Moreover, we also present our recent research results of dedifferentiated muscle stem cells for neurogenic differentiation study in vitro. Further work will be conducted to elucidate the mechanism underlying the dedifferentiation process to facilitate the development of new strategies in regenerative medicine.
Determining the transcriptional regulation pattern of PgTIP1 in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana by constructing gene  [PDF]

Abstract: The seed size, seed mass, and growth rate of transgenic Arabidopsis plants containing PgTIP1, a ginseng tonoplast aquaporin gene, are significantly higher than those of wild-type Arabidopsis plants. Whole genome expression and bioinformatics analysis, including analysis of co-expression networks and transcription factors (Tfscan), were used to determine the key genes that are activated after the expression of PgTIP1 and the transcription factors that play important roles in the regulation of the genes controlling growth of Arabidopsis thaliana seeds by using transgenic Arabidopsis plants containing PgTIP1. Differential gene analysis showed that transformation of exogenous PgTIP1 to Arabidopsis induced endogenous gene expression changes. Analysis of gene co-expression networks revealed 2 genes, PIP1 (plasma membrane aquaporin 1 gene) and RD26 (responsive to desiccation 26 gene; a NAC transcription factor), that were localized in the core of the networks. Analysis of the transcriptional regulation network of transgenic Arabidopsis plants containing PgTIP1 showed that PIP1 and RD26 were regulated via DNA binding with a finger domain on transcription factor 2 (Dof2). In this study, we demonstrated that Dof2 induces up-regulation of PIP1 and RD26 after transformation with PgTIP1. The results of this study provide a new means for conducting research into and controlling growth of Arabidopsis thaliana seeds.

Abstract: Reverse genetics was used to study the effect of particular amino acids of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) on virulence. Using site-directed mutagenesis, altering of two amino acids in VP2 (Q253H, A284T) and VP3 (H783Q, V862M, I921V) in the segment A of a Chinese very virulent IBDV field strain Harbin-1, 4 virus mutants including H253/284, H783/862, H862/921, H921/783 were rescued. To evaluate the characteristics of the recovered viruses in vivo, we inoculated 4-week-old chickens with virus mutants and rescued Harbin- 1 (rHarbin-1), analyzed their bursae for pathological lesions 4 days postinfection. rHarbin-1 and H783/862, H253/284 caused severe bursal lesion, milder lesion for H862/921, mildest for H921/783. However, H253/284 caused the lowest mortality. The results showed that residue at position Q253, A284 of VP2 and V862, I921 of VP3 gene are involved with virulence, but there is difference between VP2 and VP3’s role in virulence. The ability of 862 and 921 to control virulence in VP3 is stronger than 253 and 284.
