Parasitoid Quality of Gronotoma micromorpha Parasitizing Liriomyza huidobrensis on Chinese Cabbage and Soybean

Abstract: A study with the aim to investigate the quality of Gronotoma micromorpha which attack the immature developmental stages of Liriomyza huidobrensis has been carried out. Such variables as body length measured from caput to the tip of abdomen, wing span and the length of tibia of hind leg were measured to represent parasitoid quality. The immature developmental stage period of the parasitoid was also recorded. The result indicated that a better quality Gronotoma was obtained when it was developed in the Liriomyza larvae fed on chinese cabbage with the average of 123.85 m for body length, 253.45 m for wing span, and 42.85 m for the length of hind tibia, respectively. When Gronotoma was developed in the Liriomyza larvae fed on soy bean, its size became smaller with the average of 97.7 um for body length, 214.3 um for wing span, and 37.2 um for the hind tibia. When it is developed in the Liriomyza on chinese cabbage host plant the immature developmental period of Gronotoma is sligthly shorter with the average of 18.4 and 17.3 days for which developed in the larvae and pupa respectively and on soy bean it become longer with the average of 19.2 days for in eggs, 19.9 days for that in the larvae. On chinese cabbage, Liriomyza tend to have bigger size for both flies and pupae.

An Improved Synthesis and Preliminary Biodistribution Study of a Technetium-99m-labeled 2-amino-2-deoxy(thioacetyl)-D-glucose Complex ([99mTc]-TA-DG) As a Tumor Imaging Agent

Abstract: Introduction: This report describes the synthesis of 2-Amino-2-deoxy(S-benzoylthioacetyl)-D-glucose (S-Bz-TA-DG), radiolabeled with [99mTc(CO)3(OH2)3]+ complex with a procedure including deprotection of the benzoyl group, characterization by HPLC using a C18 reverse phase column and preliminary biodistribution study in normal mice. Methods: [99mTc(CO)3(H2O)3]+ complex was used to label TA-DG with 99mTc. This complex was prepared using up to 46 mCi of Na99mTcO4 in 1mL saline. The radiochemical purity (>95%) was determined by TLC in normal saline solution as the mobile phase. Radio-HPLC analysis of [99mTc]-(TA-DG) at pH=9.5-10, revealed that labeling with 99mTc resulted in the formation of three radiochemical species (Na99mTcO4 with tR=5.7 min, [99mTc(CO)3(H2O)3]+ complex with tR=27.5 min and [99mTc]-(TA-DG) [yield >85%] with tR=8.2 min) with different HPLC-profiles. Results:. The biodistribution of the [99mTc]-(TA-DG) complex was studied in normal mice (body mass 25-35 g) at 30 min and 1 h post-injection, according to a published procedure. This complex showed negligible brain uptake (0.13%±0.03 ID) at 30 min post-injection, an efficient clearance from the blood, a rapid excretion to the urine and a low retention in the liver and kidneys.Conclusion: Nonfunctionalized carbohydrate compounds such as glucose are generally weak ligands for chelating with 99mTc. Therefore, functionalization with an external chelating group or the insertion of some functional groups is essential to obtain strong metal-binding compounds. On the basis of our results, it seems that [99mTc]-(TA-DG) has not most of the favorable properties as an imaging agent for brain tumors.
Preparation and preliminary biological evaluation of 177Lu-labeled hydroxyapatite particles with PEG-6000 as a promising agent for radiation synovectomy of small joints

Abstract: Introduction:177Lu is considered to be a promising radionuclide for use in radiation synovectomy of small-sized joints. Methods:Enriched 176Lu2O3 was dissolved in 0.1 N HCl and 176LuCl3 target was irradiated at 2.6×1013 n.Cm-2.S-1 thermal neutron flux for 14 days.177LuCl3 was dissolved in 1N HCl. The radionuclidic purity of the radioisotope was confirmed by Gamma spectroscopy. Hydroxyapatite [Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2] particles are regarded as one of the most suitable carriers for application in radiation synovectomy with 177Lu. Results:Labeling yield up to 100% could be achieved at pH=7, with 5 mg of HA particles and 1% w/v PEG6000 and 1mCi of 177Lu.The high labeling yield and good stability of the 177Lu labeled particles indicated that these particles could be applyed for radio synovectomy after obtaining satisfactory biodistribution results. The biological efficacy of the radiolabeled preparation was tested by biodistribution after injecting the agent in both normal and arthritic knee joints of Rats (Rattus Norvegicus Albinus). Conclusion:177Lu has got very good potential as a therapeutic radionuclide. The present study shows 220 TBq/g (6000 Ci/g) of 177Lu. Our results showed 177Lu-HA particles with PEG-6000 as a satisfactory agent in radio synovectomy, due to its suitable nuclear characteristics. 177Lu appears to be worthwhile for digital joints.
Production of 177Lu and formulation of EDTMP kits as a bone-Seeking radiopharmaceutical

Abstract: Introduction: Owing to its favourable decay characteristics 177Lu [T1/2= 6.71 d, Eβ(max)= 497 keV] is an attractive radionuclide for various therapeutic applications. Ethylene diamine tatramethylene phosphonate (EDTMP) is one of the most widely used ligands which form stable complexes with various radionuclides and all the complexes. Methods: Enriched 176Lu2O3 was dissolved in 0.1 N HCl and evaporated several times and 176LuCl3 target was irradiated at 2.6×1013 n.Cm-2.S-1 thermal neutron flux for 14 days.177LuCl3 was dissolved in 1N HCl. EDTMP was dissolved in double distilled water at pH=7.5-8.5 and freeze-dried kits was radiolabeled with 177LuCl3. Distribution studies were done in healthy mice. Results: The yield of 177Lu was (~220 TBq/g; 6000 Ci/g), the radionuclidic purity was ~99%.The radiolabeling yield of EDTMP kits at 37°C after 30 min and 4 hours was 98±0.5% and after 72 hours was 90±2.1%, the in vitro stability in human serum at 37°C up to 72 hours post radiolabeling was 85±1.8%.The biodistribution studies of 177Lu-EDTMP and 177LuCl3 in normal mice showed skeleton uptake and low soft-tissue concentration. Conclusion: 177Lu has got very good potential as a therapeutic radionuclide. The present study shows ~220 TBq/g (6000 Ci/g) of 177Lu. Our results showed 177Lu-EDTMP as a bone-seeking radiopharmaceutical. Due to its suitable nuclear characteristics 177Lu appears to be worthwhile for palliative therapy of bone metastasis.

Abstract: The evolution of temperature profiles and weld pool geometry during dissimilar welding between 2205 duplex stainless steel and A36 low carbon steel using keyhole plasma arc welding has been simulated using a three dimensional numerical heat transfer and fluid flow model. An adaptive heat source is proposed as a heat source model for performing a non-linear transient thermal analysis, based on the configuration feature of keyhole plasma arc welds. Temperature profiles and solidified weld pool geometry are presented for three different welding heat input. The reversed bugle shape parameters (width of fusion zone at both top and bottom surfaces) of the weld pool geometry features for a dissimilar 2205–A36 weld joint are summarized to successfully explain the observations. The model was also applied to keyhole plasma welding of 6.8 mm thick similar 2205 duplex stainless steel joint for validation. The simulation results were compared with independently obtained experimental data and good agreements have been obtained.
Painful Bladder Syndrome/Interstitielle Cystitis und sexuelle Funktionsst rung bei der Frau

Abstract: Ziel: Untersuchung von Patientinnen mit Painful Bladder Syndrome/Interstitieller Cystitis (PBS/IC) auf m gliche sexuelle Funktionsst rungen und Belastungen im Vergleich zu gesunden Frauen. Methoden: Verwendung des 19 Item-Fragebogens "Female Sexual Function Index" (FSFI) und des 12 Item-Fragebogens zur Sexualbelastung "Female Sexual Distress Scale" (FSDS). Die Frageb gen wurden vor Therapiebeginn ausgegeben. Untersucht wurden 20 gesunde Frauen und 20 weibliche PBS/IC Betroffene im Alter von 18 65 Jahren. Einschlu kriterien für PBS/IC-Patientinnen waren eine Reduktion der Blasenkapazit t um mindestens 30 % unter dem modifizierten 0,2 mol Kaliumchlorid-Test oder ein positiver 0,4 mol Kaliumchlorid-Test (PST-Parsons-Test), negative Harnkulturen und Ausschlu von STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections). Ergebnisse: Die h ufigsten Symptome waren Appetenzst rungen (65 %), gefolgt von Erregungsst rungen (40 %) und Dyspareunie (30%). 45 % berichteten von starken Schmerzen w hrend oder nach Geschlechtsverkehr. Orgasmusst rungen wurden nur von 25 % berichtet. 30 % der Frauen hatten in den vier bewerteten Wochen keine sexuellen Aktivit ten. 45 % der Betroffenen waren mit ihren Sexualpartnern unzufrieden. 52 % waren unglücklich und entt uscht über ihr Sexualleben, 70 % hatten Schuldgefühle und 50 % Gefühle von Minderwertigkeit und Unzul nglichkeit. Konklusion: Frauen mit PBS/IC haben im Vergleich zu gesunden Frauen eine deutlich h here Pr valenz von sexuellen Funktionsst rungen. Appetenzst rungen und Erregungsst rungen nehmen dabei einen herausragenden Platz ein, w hrend Dyspareunie nur von 30 % der Betroffenen angegeben wurde. Neben den sexuellen Funktionsst rungen belastet IC auch bei der H lfte der Betroffenen das Selbstwertgefühl sehr stark.

Keimspektrum von Ejakulatkulturen bei infertilen Patienten

Abstract: Die bakterielle Kontamination des Ejakulates kann die Spermienqualit t und damit auch die m nnliche Fertilit t negativ beeinflussen. über das Ejakulat-Keimspektrum bei infertilen Patienten gibt es in der Literatur unterschiedliche Angaben. Wir untersuchten daher die prim ren Ejakulatkulturen infertiler Patienten, die unsere andrologische Sprechstunde aufsuchten. Bei 160 Patienten wurden retrospektiv die prim ren Ejakulatkulturen ausgewertet, wobei eine Keimzahl über 103 Keime/ml als positive Kultur (laut WHO 1993) gewertet wurde. Eine positive Ejakulatkultur (Keimzahl 103) wurde in 52 % (n = 83), eine bakterielle Kontamination mit einer Keimzahl von unter 103 in 41 % (n = 65) und sterile Kulturen lediglich bei 7 % (n = 12) der Patienten nachgewiesen. Von den Patienten mit einer positiven Ejakulatkultur hatten 36 % (n = 30) Mischkulturen. Die h ufigsten Erreger waren Ureaplasmen/Mycoplasmen mit 26 % (n = 22) und Enterococcus faecalis mit 19 % (n = 16), wobei Ureaplasmen/Mykoplasmen in 17 % (n = 14) mit anderen Keimen kombiniert waren. In 8 % (n = 7) waren Staphylokokken (Staph. aureus, Staph. epidermidis) nachweisbar, in 5 % (n = 4) Escherichia coli. Eine positive Ejakulatkultur ist bei infertilen Patienten h ufig zu finden. Aufgrund der negativen Auswirkung der bakteriellen Kontamination auf die Spermatozoenqualit t sollte im Rahmen der Prim rdiagnostik immer eine Ejakulatkultur erhoben werden, um eine testgerechte antibiotische Therapie zu erm glichen.
