Eduardo Portanova Barros,Lívia Garcez de Oliveira Padilha
Semina : Ciências Sociais e Humanas , 2012, DOI: 10.5433/1679-0383.2012v33n1p61-70
Abstract: This article aims do present reflections on art in post-modernity, which encourages a reading of the ambivalence between the technique and aesthetics. We focus the environmentalist work of artist Joseph Beuys and the critical German essayist Andreas Huyssen and the paradoxical thinking of vanguard and mass culture. Is it possible to think like that in a dualist way? Or we can see a shift in sensitivity towards what touches us by affection? We believe, nevertheless, that exists a permanent state of artistic tension which stimulates a more relativistic than categorical culture in the XXI century.
Borges, Lívia de Oliveira;
Revista de Administra??o Contemporanea , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-65551999000300005
Abstract: considering the importance of printed press in the formation of national opinion, this study objectified to identify those conceptions of work present in articles of folha de s?o paulo newspaper and exame magazine. the development of the study consisted in the application of the method designated for content analyses (thematic analyses). in both periodicals, they were chosen articles that approached mainly the themes work/employment/unemployment. among them, were established like the sample: 60 articles of the exame magazine and 299 of the folha de s?o paulo newspaper. the identification of the themes (work values and work centrality) in the articles was developed, in the newspaper, for two judges, and, the magazine, for three judges. in both, a tendency to refer to work centrality in the articles about the work of managers and of graduates professionals, revealing the existence of a vision. in the both periodicals predominate the presence of values that reveal the persistence of a commitment with the ideas of keynes and ford, but, in the magazine, there is a trend to the rupture with the set of values of welfare state while, in the newspaper, there is a trend to progress to the conceptions more expressive of the work without such rupture.
Effect of the Addiction of Metal Oxide Nanoparticles on the Physical, Chemical and Thermal Properties of PVA Based Nanocomposites  [PDF]
Raquel Couto de Azevedo Gon?alves Mota, Emerson Oliveira da Silva, Lívia Rodrigues de Menezes
Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2018.95033
Abstract: In this study, poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based nanocomposites consisting of metallic oxide nanoparticles (TiO2, ZnO, ZrO2) were obtained from an aqueous solution of 7% PVA, in order to compare the microstructural, and physical properties of bionanocomposite films reinforced with various loading contents (0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3% w/w). They were evaluated regarding their molecular toughness through Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), regarding their chemical structural through Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), regarding their crystallinity throught X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and regarding termal properties through Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The NMR results showed that the smallest concentrations of these oxides have a tendency to disperse better in the polymeric matrix, improving the structural toughness. Besides, changes in the termal resistance of the material were found with the use of TGA and DSC.
Polymer Nanocomposites Used as Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Regeneration  [PDF]
Raquel Couto de Azevedo Gon?alves Mota, Emerson Oliveira da Silva, Lívia Rodrigues de Menezes
Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2018.98049
Abstract: Scaffolds are three-dimensional biocompatible structures that can mimic the properties of the extracellular matrix (ECM) of a given tissue, like mechanical support and bioactivity, which provides a platform for cellular adherence, proliferation and differentiation. Consequently, scaffolds are frequently used in tissue engineering with the intention of assisting the regeneration of a damaged tissue, and a major application in bone regeneration. An ideal scaffold needs to be biodegradable, biocompatible, and needs to match the biomechanical properties of bone. Polymers are widely used in this field because they fulfil the first two requirements. However, no polymeric material can achieve mechanical properties similar to the bone. For that reason, polymeric nanocomposites, which consist of ceramic/metallic nanoparticles dispersed in a polymer matrix, are being considered for bone scaffold fabrication in order to overcome this problem, since nanoparticles are known to improve composite mechanical strength, and enhance other properties.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to determine the most appropriate strategy to simultaneously increase fruit production components of assai palm (euterpe oleracea). an experiment with 25 half-sib progenies was carried out in the county of santa isabel, pa, brazil, using a randomized complete block design with four replicates and five plants per plot. the smith & hazel, williams, and mulamba & mock's selection indexes were applied in three selective strategies. the coefficients of genetic variation, heritability, the ratio between the genetic correlation of the trait under selection and fruit yield, and the sum of all genetic correlations between the traits that comprise the index and fruit yield were used as economic weights. weighting of the correlation ratio allowed the selection indexes to discriminate the best progenies in the different selection strategies evaluated. simultaneous selection by the mulamba & mock index, as to the number of fruiting months, number of bunches harvested, fruit yield, and number of rachilles per bunch, robustly estimates genetic gains.
