Spectrophotometric Characterization of the Complex Generated in Solution for the Reaction of H[Ru(III)Cl2(H2EDTA)] Complex with AETS Modifier Agent  [PDF]
Angélica M. Lazarin, Rosana Lázara Sernaglia
Open Journal of Synthesis Theory and Applications (OJSTA) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojsta.2014.34006
Abstract: Spectrophotometric method was used to evaluate the kinetic of the complex formation from the reaction between H[Ru(III)Cl2(H2EDTA)] and the modifier agent [3-(2-aminoethyl)aminopropyl] trimethoxysilane (AEATS) (μ = 0.50 mol.dm-3 with NaCF3COO, 298.15 K), in pseudo-first order conditions. These studies showed that the reactions are successives producing several species influenced by the concentrations ratio. The electronics spectrum of all solutions showed a band in 457 nm with variable molar absorptivity (ε).

Writing and Editing Complexity Theory: Tales and Tools
Lane A. Hemaspaandra,Alan L. Selman
Computer Science , 1998,
Abstract: Each researcher should have a full shelf---physical or virtual---of books on writing and editing prose. Though we make no claim to any special degree of expertise, we recently edited a book of complexity theory surveys (Complexity Theory Retrospective II, Springer-Verlag, 1997), and in doing so we were brought into particularly close contact with the subject of this article, and with a number of the excellent resources available to writers and editors. In this article, we list some of these resources, and we also relate some of the adventures we had as our book moved from concept to reality.
Nodulation, arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization and growth of some legumes native from Brazil
Patreze, Camila M.;Cordeiro, Lázara;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33062005000300014
Abstract: the effects of rhizobial and mycorrhizal inoculation, nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization on nodulation, mycorrhizal colonization and initial growth were examined in brazilian native plants, enterolobium contortisiliquum (vell. conc.) morong, inga laurina (sw.) willd., lonchocarpus muehlbergianus hassl and platypodium elegans vogel. the experiment was carried out in a glasshouse using plastic bags filled with a mixture of sandy soil from riparian forest and vermiculite (2:1) amended with basal nutrients including np, p and n and infected with rhizobia (r), mycorrhiza (m) or both (rm), amounting seven treatments: np, p, p+r, p+rm, n, n+m and n+rm, with ten replications each. the plants were analyzed at 120 and 255 days after sowing. p deficiency negatively affected growth and nodulation of all species. autochton arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (amf) colonized host roots and fungal inoculations did not enhance mycorrhizal colonization, which was also favored by added p. nodulation was relatively higher in e. contortisiliquum and l. muehlbergianus, mainly in treatments containing p, and with rhizobial inoculation (p+r). plants from these treatments developed better than others and, despite the rhizobia inoculated had no synergistic relationship with inoculated amf, they also showed the best percentages of mycorrhizal colonization. moreover, these two species showed highest rates of acetylene reduction and highest leghemoglobin content. these results suggest that e. contortisiliquum and l. muehlbergianus can have advantages for establishment in soils with low nitrogen levels.
Efeito do sombreamento no crescimento inicial de Lonchocarpus muehlbergianus Hassl
Cancian, Maria A. Eva;Cordeiro, Lázara;
Acta Botanica Brasilica , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-33061998000400005
Abstract: this experiment was carried out under greenhouse conditions to verifiy the influence of shading on the growth of lonchocarpus muehlbergianus plants. the following shading levels were used: 40% and 60% obtained using black plastic screening, and 0% under full light. the following results were obtained: the plants cultivated in 60% shading were higher and present larger leaf areas, wider collar and main root diameters, besides larger aerial and dry root weight were obtained in plants cultivated in 0% and 40% shading.
A Técnica Q - como instrumento de medida na área da educa??o em saúde
Balduino,Maria Aparecida; Lessa,Zenaide Lázara;
Revista de Saúde Pública , 1986, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-89101986000100005
Abstract: a means of measurement, the application of which is similar to that of the first stages of the thurstone scale, using the method of apparently equal intervals and based on stephenson's q-technique, was elaborated, by using this tool it was planned to carry out a study on the function perception of the public health educator on the health team. the study comprises two phases: the first dealing with the construction of the instrument it self and the second with the making of a research survey, using the same. it is described every step of the first phase which consists of: gathering of information on the function assigned to the public health educator; list of the functions; turning them into statements transcribed into cards; selection of a sample of 70 cards, by a highly specialized board of judges; tabulation of the data obtained and definition of the definitive instrument. to fulfil the requisites of validity the scaling distribution should present a certain balance among the pertinent, intermediate, and non-pertinent statements. for statistical convenience and to guarantee such a balance each judge is told to place varying numbers of cards on several piles, turning its totality into a continuum approaching a normal or nearly normal distribution. such a balance has been attained and a distribution of the frequency statements sampled by the judges has shown an excellent internal agreement which qualifies this study as satisfactory. the statements have been proved to be definitive components of the measuring tool - percep??o da fun??o do educador na saúde pública (perception of the function of the educator in public health).
2+p-SAT: Relation of Typical-Case Complexity to the Nature of the Phase Transition
R. Monasson,R. Zecchina,S. Kirkpatrick,B. Selman,L. Troyansky
Physics , 1999,
Abstract: Heuristic methods for solution of problems in the NP-Complete class of decision problems often reach exact solutions, but fail badly at "phase boundaries", across which the decision to be reached changes from almost always having one value to almost having a different value. We report an analytic solution and experimental investigations of the phase transition that occurs in the limit of very large problems in K-SAT. The nature of its "random first-order" phase transition, seen at values of K large enough to make the computational cost of solving typical instances increase exponenitally with problem size, suggest a mechanism for the cost increase. There has been evidence for features like the "backbone" of frozen inputs which characterizes the UNSAT phase in K-SAT in the study of models of disordered materials, but this feature and this transition are uniquely accessible to analysis in K-SAT. The random first order transition combines properties of the 1st order (discontinuous onset of order) and 2nd order (with power law scaling, e.g. of the width of the the critical region in a finite system) transitions known in the physics of pure solids. Such transitions should occur in other combinatoric problems in the large N limit. Finally, improved search heuristics may be developed when a "backbone" is known to exist.
