Thus, contrary to the commonly accepted belief, the evidence indicates that both sides of the body are under the same command (major hemisphere) and that the nondominant side of the body is a callosum-width farther from the major hemisphere. Substantial controversy exists, however, as to the best method for determining the laterality of motor control in an individual case. According to the new understanding, ie, the one-way callosal traffic circuitry underpinning laterality of motor control, the larger excursions of effectors located opposite (contralateral to) the command center while performing bimanual simultaneous drawing tasks provides the best noninvasive and inexpensive approach for demonstrating the laterality of the major hemisphere of a person (who is able to perform such tasks). Here, it is documented pictorially that bimanual simultaneous drawing of geometrical designs or straight lines, as well as moving the arms simultaneously from side to side (or up and down) while noting the difference of speed of the two arms (represented by the distance between the two index fingers), both provide a reliable indication of the laterality of a person’s major hemisphere. In all these maneuvers the nondominant side of the body (even the diaphragms) lags behind the dominant side by an interval equal to the interhemispheric transfer time (IHTT). This lagging behind of the nondominant side of the body in bimanual simultaneous movements is the footprint of directionality of callosal traffic underpinning the laterality of motor control evidenced by worsening of the delay of the nondominant side following callosotomy (uncoupling). Here, the historical precedence of a novel understanding in motor control together with its neurological implications in daily life as well as in laterality of seizure onset are briefly addressed, pointing out the deleterious effects of Sir Isaac Newton’s influence in neurological research on interhemispheric connectivity by suggesting symmetrical representation of visual sense of space in the human brain.
Viral Infection, a Suggestive Hypothesis for Aetiology of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Abstract: Many studies have indicated that viruses can interact with mitochondria and affect their function. Further, emerging data now show that many more viruses may influence the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis and thus there is widespread potential for interaction with the respiratory chain in this organelle. Such interactions could have consequences for the clinical outcome of persistent viral infections when energy generation is disturbed; and eventually will be a possible cause for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Therefore, it is hypothesized that viral infections maybe the main aetiology for this syndrome.

Abstract: Background: Measurements of mitral valve area (MVA) are essential to determine the severity of mitral stenosis (MS) and adopt the best management strategies. The aim of the present study was to compare MVA determined by two-dimensional (2D) planimetry to MVA measured by continuity equation (CE) in patients with moderate to severe MS. Methods: We evaluated 73 consecutive patients with the diagnosis of MS scheduled for balloon mitral valvuloplasty or with moderate to severe rheumatic MS admitted at the echocardiography clinic of Imam Khomeini Hospital in 2010. Using 2D images of mitral valve obtained from paraesternal short axis view, 2D planimetry of the mitral orifice area was performed by an experienced cardiologist. MVA by CE was calculated from aortic forward stroke volume divided by transmitral time-velocity integral.Results: The mean value of MVA by 2-D planimetry was 1.0±0.3 cm2. The average values of MVA measured by PHT and CE were 1.0±0.3 cm2 and 0.9±0.4 cm2, respectively. The MVA determined by planimetry correlated well with CE (r=0.832, standard error of estimation [SEE]= 0.166, P<0.001). The mean values of MVA calculated by CE highly correlated with those calculated by 2-D planimetry in patients presenting with both non-significant (r=0.701) and significant (r=0.761) AIs. Conclusion: When planimetry is not feasible, such as in severe calcification of mitral valve or after percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty, CE could be an alternative method for MVA measurement in comparison with PHT.
Nephritic-nephrotic syndrome as a presentation of BK virus infection

Abstract: BK virus (BKV) is increasingly found as an important cause of allograft nephro-pathy. Nephrotic syndrome is not a usual manifestation of BKV nephropathy. Here, we report a 12-year-old boy, a case of end-stage renal disease due to nephronophthisis, who got the kidney trans-planted from a 16-year-old cadaver, and after 18 months of uneventful transplantation on triple immunosuppressive therapy (Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), cyclosporin and prednisolone), pre-sented with nephrotic feature (edema, heavy proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia and hyperlipidema). Kidney biopsy was in favor of BKV infection and eventually ended in graft failure.

Optimum Method in Blocking Sidelobe Distortion and Jammer from Radar Fundamental Signal

Abstract: One of the methods in creating disturbance in radar is to apply appealing jammer. These jammers send strong signals like target-return signals into radar. If these signals enter from main lobe of radar antenna, create false targets in different ranges. Besides if they enter from secondary lobes, radar receiver is not able to distinguish between signals entered from primary and secondary lobes, and they are interpreted as signals of primary lobes, consequently some false targets are detected in different angles. In this paper, with considering the method that is used in [Shnidman, D.A and Toumodge, S., 2002], we simulate an optimum method to block secondary lobe jammers. Lobe disturbance from primary radar signal, done by applying pulse calculations.
Why CALL Why Not MALL: An In-depth Review of Text-message Vocabulary Learning

Abstract: Vocabulary learning has gained a profound ground in language learning, and with the advent of text-messaging, researchers have shown great enthusiasm to investigate the interplay between the two. Therefore, the present paper seeks to firstly define MALL (Mobile Assisted Language Learning) in terms of language learning, to secondly compare and contrast E-learning and M-learning, to thirdly elaborate upon theories underlying MALL in general and text-message vocabulary learning in particular, to fourthly explicate the practical studies done on text-message vocabulary learning, and finally to enumerate the advantages and disadvantages of MALL and text-message vocabulary learning.
A Complementary-compensatory Approach to Teaching Focus on Form/S in EFL/ESL Classrooms

Abstract: Focus on form has received considerable attention as researchers and theorists have enthusiastically embraced an integration of meaning-focused and form-focused instruction in the L2 classroom. Therefore, the present paper is an attempt to delve deeply into elucidating different taxonomies subsumed under the specious polarization of Focus on Form (FoF) and Focus on Forms (FoFs). It then offers the possible rationale behind the integration of FoFs into meaning-centered and communicative classes. The article also elaborates upon the methodological implications underpinning reactive vs. preemptive focus on FoF. Analogous to other approaches to SLA, some practical, socioeconomical, and cultural criticisms were raised against FoF. The researchers conclude that the developed myth about the FoF and FoFs polarization should be treated cautiously. They also propose a complementary-compensatory approach to teaching FoF and FoFs.
