Infrared Two-Color Diagrams for AGB stars, post-AGB stars, and Planetary Nebulae

Abstract: We present various infrared two-color diagrams (2CDs) for AGB stars, post-AGB stars, and Planetary Nebulae (PNe) and investigate possible evolutionary tracks. We use catalogs from the available literature for the sample of 4903 AGB stars (3373 O-rich; 1168 C-rich; 362 S-type), 660 post-AGB stars (326 post-AGB; 334 pre-PNe), and 1510 PNe in our Galaxy. For each object in the catalog, we cross-identify the IRAS, AKARI, MSX, and 2MASS counterparts. The IR 2CDs can provide useful information about the structure and evolution of the dust envelopes as well as the central stars. To find possible evolutionary tracks from AGB stars to PNe on the 2CDs, we investigate spectral evolution of post-AGB stars by making simple but reasonable assumptions on the evolution of the central star and dust shell. We perform radiative transfer model calculations for the detached dust shells around evolving central stars in the post-AGB phase. We find that the theoretical dust shell model tracks using dust opacity functions of amorphous silicate and amorphous carbon roughly coincide with the densely populated observed points of AGB stars, post-AGB stars, and PNe on various IR 2CDs. Even though some discrepancies are inevitable, the end points of the theoretical post-AGB model tracks are generally converged to the region of the observed points of PNe on most 2CDs.

Abstract: This paper examines the transmission of pricing information and the volatility of dual-listed stocks between class A and H shares of Chinese companies. First, using firm level data, we show that there is a large price discount for H shares relative to the A shares. Second, when we divide the firms into a high price disparity group and a low price disparity group, we find that the high price disparity group’s pricing information transmission is stronger than the low price disparity group during the pre-liberalization period (in terms of significant mean coefficients). Third, when we divide the entire sample period into a pre-liberalization period and a post-liberalization, we find that the mean value spillover is stronger during the post-liberalization period for the low price disparity group. Finally, we report that during the post-liberalization period, the volatility spillover increases from A shares to H shares while it decreases from H shares to A shares. This implies that there is an information advantage of H shares, disappearing with the liberalization of A shares.
Carbon and nitrogen storage in an age-sequence of Pinus densiflora stands in Korea

Abstract: The carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) storage capabilities of Pinus densiflora in six different stand ages (10, 27, 30, 32, 44, and 71 years old) were investigated in Korea. Thirty sample trees were destructively harvested and 12 were excavated. Samples from the above and belowground tree components, coarse woody debris (CWD), forest floor, and mineral soil (0–30 cm) were collected. Tree biomass was highest in the 71-year-old stand (202.8 t ha 1) and lowest in the 10-year-old stand (18.4 t ha 1). C and N storage in the mineral soil was higher in the 71-year-old stand than in the other stands, mainly due to higher soil C and N concentrations. Consequently, the total ecosystem C and N storage (tree+forest floor+CWD+soil) was positively correlated with stand age: increasing from a minimum in the 10 year old stand (18.8 t C ha 1 and 1.3 t N ha 1) to a maximum in the 71-year-old stand (201.4 t C ha 1 and 8.5 t N ha 1). The total ecosystem C storage showed a similar sigmoidal pattern to that of tree C storage as a function of the age-sequence, while N storage in the CWD, forest floor and mineral soil showed no significant temporal trends. Our results provide important insights that will increase our understanding of C and N storage in P. densiflora stands and our ability to predict changes according to stand age in the region.

Abstract:

Nowadays, almost every hospital utilizes picture archiving and communications system (PACS) and electronic medical record (EMR) system to manage patient’s data digitally. However, patient’s pictures taken by nurses or physicians to monitor lesions or various test results are not managed well in general. Although for some disease, these pictures provide meaningful information in diagnosis and treatment. In this paper, we propose a management system for these images to improve the accessibility and storability. To manage the images efficiently, the proposed methods utilized the PACS system in the hospital. After sending the image data of each patient to a local monitoring computer, the patient’s information, such as, name, age, male, and registration number were attached on the image. This file was then converted to a DICOM (digital imaging and communications in medicine) files and transferred to the PACS Server. The proposed system promises easy and convenient access on the images of lesions and various test results of patients to support fast and appropriate treatment.

Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is to investigate several further interesting properties of symmetry for the multivariate -adic fermionic integral on . From these symmetries, we can derive some recurrence identities for the -Euler polynomials of higher order, which are closely related to the Frobenius-Euler polynomials of higher order. By using our identities of symmetry for the -Euler polynomials of higher order, we can obtain many identities related to the Frobenius-Euler polynomials of higher order.
