Kolenc Fusé,Francisco Javier;
Medicina Oral, Patología Oral y Cirugía Bucal (Ed. impresa) , 2004,
Abstract: tooth agenesis are the most common craniofacial malformations. its prevalence in permanent dentition reaches 20% and its expressivity ranges from only one tooth, usually a third molar, to the whole dentition. genetic linkage and molecular biology studies have allowed, in the last decade, the identification of mutations responsible for some patterns of syndromic and non-syndromic tooth agenesis. the mutated genes are key genes for the development of dentition, like the ones that encode the transcription factors msx1, pax9 and pitx2, the signalling protein eda and its receptor edar. current research would lead to the development of new classifications of tooth agenesis that took into account both the phenotypes and the genetic background. this would allow an early diagnosis of the condition, before the development of the somatic defect, that could eventually be repaired with gene therapy or tissue and organ engineering.
Hidrografske meritve : Hydrographic Surveys
Regina Kolenc
Geodetski Vestnik , 2005,
Abstract: Hydrographic surveys are required for a wide range of civil works engineering and construction activities. They support construction of hydrotechnical objects (dams, hydro-powerplants etc.), safe navigation, flood control missions and topographic survey of wetlands. All this caused development of various surveying methods through years but despite continuous improvements of technology and software, the hydrographic field of work is still one of great pretension.
Differences among university students in motivation to learn: A cross-cultural study
Kolenc Janez
Zbornik Instituta za Pedago?ka Istra?ivanja , 2011, DOI: 10.2298/zipi1101041k
Abstract: This study attempts to reject the stereotype that competition is not a desired personal characteristic and a specific motivational factor. We have investigated and revealed positive dimensions and statistically significant correlations between the self-concept and motivation to learn. The new model of self-concept, based on different kinds of competition and motivation to learn, has been postulated. Some arguments have been provided to assume that this model differs from culture to culture. For this reason, the participants from three countries took part in the study. Countries were chosen on the basis of political and cultural indicators in Eastern/Southern versus Western/Southern European characteristics: Slovenia, Serbia and Spain. The study comprised of 225 Slovenian, 99 Serbian and 140 Spanish participants. There are two particular goals of the research. The first is to find out whether there are any differences in self-concept, motivation to learn and competition among participants from different countries. According to the second goal, the investigation of the correlations between self-concept, motivation to learn and competition within each national group is underlined. Some quantitative methods of social sciences have been used to achieve these goals. We found out that the cultural indicator has a significant impact on self-concept, motivation to learn and competition. Further to this, we argue that the “Southern” disposition predominates over Eastern as well as Western dimensions, which means that Slovenians are among the more competitive participants.
P íklad e-learningové komunity v celo ivotním vzdělávání u itel tělesné vychovy An example of an e-learning community for lifelong learning by physical education teachers

Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis : Gymnica , 2008,
V rámci e-komunity a pomocí blog (weblog ) mohou u ivatelé sdílet p íklady nejlep ích postup a získávat, rozvíjet a sdílet tak profesní kompetence v oblasti tělesné vychovy. V budoucnosti by e-learningové komunity mohly p edstavovat ú innou oporu p i celo ivotním vzdělávání u itel tělesné vychovy a podpo it rozvoj sport v ech typ a mě ítek. The contemporary trends in the world and in the EU indicate an increase in the number of e-learning communities. This paper presents an example of the first learning community in Slovenia in the field of practical pedagogical training for students, the "Sportfolio.si". The Faculty, sport students, professors, and the mentors at schools cooperate within the e-learning community and in this way interconnect "theory and practice". Within the e-community and by using blogs (web logs), users can share "examples of the best practice" and therefore gain, develop, and share professional competencies in the field of physical education – they are proving the idea that "you can develop your own knowledge if you share it with others". These are also the trends in the EU which require teachers to continuously adopt new roles (competencies), and to change or abandon some of their earlier ones. Teachers must therefore permanently arrange for their own personal and professional development. With so called lifelong learning, teachers are becoming an important integral part of the "learning society" or the society of knowledge, which represents one of the fundamental goals of the European policies in the field of education and training to be achi

Aggregative behaviour in the fossorial lizard Amphisbaena darwinii (Squamata, Amphisbaenidae)
Borteiro, Claudio,Kolenc, Francisco,Verdes, José Manuel
Cuadernos de Herpetología , 2012,
Abstract: We present herein observations on A. darwinii made from 2008 to 2011 as part of herpetofaunal inventories in southern Uruguay. Some voucher specimens were accessioned at the herpetological collection of Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, Montevideo, Uruguay (MNHN). Specimens of Amphisbaena darwinii were found under stones or abandoned pieces of concrete and metallic sheets in some natural and urban areas. In these associations, specimens were very close to each other, sometimes with their bodies side by side or one above the other/s.
Kolenc, Francisco,Borteiro, Claudio,Tedros, Marcelo
Hyla uruguaya is a poorly known species with controversial taxonomic status. Its finding in Uruguay has been sporadic. In the present work larval morphology, some aspects of reproductive biology, geographical distribution and ecology in Uruguay are addressed. The tadpole has a robust and elliptic body, lateral eyes, high fins, left spiracle, vent tube short and dextral, labial tooth row formula of [(1)(1-1)/(1-1)(2)], a single row of oral papillae with a dorsal gap and some submarginal subangular papillae. A spawn of 398 eggs of 1,3 mm diameter was obtained in the laboratory. The advertisement call, which can be sustained up to 13 min., consists of a series of multipulsed notes of 22 ms long, with a mean dominant frequency of 4146 Hz and a note repetition rate of 4,2 - 4,8 notes/s. The call was heard in the wild since late August, and tadpoles were found up to late February in ponds of open areas in hilly landscapes of NE, E y SE Uruguay. The results allow a reconsideration of the conservation status of the species in Uruguay. The relationship with the cryptic species Hyla pinima is discussed and based on larval characters taxonomic affinities with species of the ruber clade of Scinax are suggested.

Minimization of Losses in Smart Grids Using Coordinated Voltage Control
Marko Kolenc,Igor Papi?,Bo?tjan Bla?i?
Energies , 2012, DOI: 10.3390/en5103768
Abstract: This article deals with the influence of distributed generation (DG) on distribution line losses with respect to voltage profile. The article focuses on the development of a control strategy to minimize the grid losses and assure fairness regarding reactive power contributions. As retail customers typically have no choice where they are located along a feeder, it seems unfair that only some of them bear all the burden and responsibility for the voltage rise. On the basis of new technologies, which are capable of fast communication and data processing, a new control system has been proposed that combines classical centralized and local control. The heart of the control system is a load?flow algorithm, which estimates the voltage drop using a modeled network. Different control solutions were evaluated by means of computer simulations. The simulated network is an actual Slovenian medium-voltage distribution network which covers a large area with diverse feeders and thus gives relatively general results.
Advertisement call and female sexual cycle in Uruguayan populations of Physalaemus henselii (Anura, Leiuperidae)
Maneyro, Raúl;Nú?ez, Diego;Borteiro, Claudio;Tedros, Marcelo;Kolenc, Francisco;
Iheringia. Série Zoologia , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0073-47212008000200007
Abstract: physalaemus henselii (peters, 1872) is a little known leiuperid frog that has not been studied since the 1960?s. herein, we redescribe its advertisement call, and assess the female sexual cycle and the reproductive period on the basis of the macroscopic analysis of the ovaries and field observations. the ovarian size factor (osf) was calculated. the study was made in departamento de rivera, northern uruguay. the advertisement call consists of short (177 ± 21ms), multipulsed (20 ± 3 pulses/note) notes, with a note repetition rate of 1.57 ± 0.13 notes/s. physalaemus henselii has a female sexual cycle with unimodal distribution of gravid females, which are present from february to september. the osf and the ratio "females with mature oocytes / females without mature oocytes" reached the highest values from april to june. the number and size of oocytes were positively correlated with female size. the smallest female (svl =18.94mm, weight =0.78g) with mature oocytes was found in july. the observed sexual cycle with a single annual reproductive period during the cold season (autumn and early winter), is an uncommon fact for anuran species in the region.
