Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.519277
Abstract: New operators are presented to introduce “arithmetic calculus”, where 1) the operators are just obvious mathematical facts, and 2) arithmetic calculus refers to summing and subtracting operations without solving equations. The sole aim of this paper is to make a case for arithmetic calculus, which is lurking in conventional mathematics and science but has no identity of its own. The underlying thinking is: 1) to shift the focus from the whole sequence to any of its single elements; and 2) to factorise each element to building blocks and rules. One outcome of this emerging calculus is to understand the interconnectivity in a family of sequences, without which they are seen as discrete entities with no interconnectivity. Arithmetic calculus is a step closer towards deriving a “Tree of Numbers” reminiscent of the Tree of Life. Another windfall outcome is to show that the deconvolution problem is explicitly well-posed but at the same time implicitly ill-conditioned; and this challenges a misconception that this problem is ill-posed. If the thinking in this paper is not new, this paper forges it through a mathematical spin by presenting new terms, definitions, notations and operators. The return for these out of the blue new aspects is far reaching.
Software Cost Estimation Methods: A Review
Vahid Khatibi,Dayang N. A. Jawawi
Journal of Emerging Trends in Computing and Information Sciences , 2011,
Abstract: Project planning is one of the most important activities in software projects. Poor planning often leads to project faults and dramatic outcomes for the project team. If cost and effort are determined pessimistic in software projects, suitable occasions can be missed; whereas optimistic predictions can be caused to some resource losing. Nowadays software project managers should be aware of the increasing of project failures. The main reason for this problem is imprecision of the estimation. In this paper, several existing methods for software cost estimation are illustrated and their aspects will be discussed. Comparing the features of the methods could be applied for clustering based on abilities; it is also useful for selecting the special method for each project. The history of using each estimation model leads to have a good choice for an especial software project. In this paper an example of estimation is also presented in an actual software project.

Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances , 2012,
Abstract: Regarding to vast application of the antibiotic drugs in animals, quality control of food stuff, from view of antibiotic residues is necessary. Existence of antibiotic residues in food stuff, especially meat and their transforming to the body of consumers are the cause of some effects such as bacterial resistance, allergic reactions, toxicity, carcinogenic effects and disturbing of natural micro flora of intestine. This study presents, the net change by roasting process on antibiotics residues in edible tissues of poultry. Four-plate test is one of the microbiological methods for detection of antibiotic residues in food stuff, which is at the base of inhibition zone formation around the samples disks in four culture media with different pH and test bacteria. For this purpose, 40 carcasses were collected on each of eight visits from Tabriz poultry slaughter houses. Four locations were sampled aseptically from each carcass: breast muscle; skin; liver; gizzard. After doing different phases of four-plate test on raw samples, the positive raw samples incubated in 200°C. Incubation time regarding to usual a complete cooking time were as follows: muscle 40 min; skin 15 min; liver 25 min; gizzard 60 min then, we surveyed samples by FPT method again for present of antibiotic residue. None of the positive raw samples had antibiotic residue more than maximum residue limit after roasting (p<0.05) and we didn’t see any inhibition zones around roasted samples on agar medium. Regarding to the results of this study, we can conclude that enough roasting temperature and time can have a great effect on antibiotic residues losses and provides an additional margin of safety for consumers.

Abstract: Background: Stretching exercises and massage therapy are both suggested for pain relief in fibromyalgia syndrome. Previous studies have not proved their superiority over each other. This study compared the therapeutic effects of friction massage, stretching exercises, and analgesics on pain relief in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome. Methods: We evaluated 129 female patients with the diagnosis of primary fibromyalgia visited at the physical medicine clinics of Baqiyatallah Hospital in Tehran, Iran during 2010- 2011. Patients were randomly divided into three groups: the first group received 400 mg ibuprofen P.O. (3 times per day) and 25 mg nortriptyline (daily) P.O. as analgesic, the second group was treated by friction massage and the third group performed stretching exercises. Patients were assessed three times (initially, after one and four weeks) by visual analogue scale (VAS).Results: The mean age of participants was 60.46 years. The mean age in each treatment group was 46.66 years in medication group, 46.73 years in stretching group and 46.65 years in friction massage group. Changes in VAS score over 4 weeks were 2.4, 3.1 and 1.9, in the first, second, and third groups, respectively. The changes in VAS were significantly different in the first and second groups rather than the controls (P<0.05).Conclusion: The effect of stretch exercise on pain relief was similar to analgesics, but it was more effective than friction massage. Moreover, the therapeutic effect of stretching exercise on pain relief upon four weeks was more permanent than friction massage but it was similar to analgesics.

Iranian Journal of Physics Research , 2006,
Abstract: A systematic study of the intergranular properties of (Bi,Pb)2 Sr2 Ca2 Cu3 Oy (Bi2223) polycrystalline samples has been done using the electrical resistivity and AC susceptibility techniques. In this study, we have prepared a series of Bi2223 samples with different sintering temperatures. The XRD results show that by increasing the sintering temperature up to 865° c , the Bi2212 phase fraction decreases. It was found that the Bi2212 phase on the grain boundaries is likely to play the role of the weak links and consequently reduces the intergranular critical current densities.

Pakistan Journal of Biological Sciences , 2008,
Abstract: The aim of this research is to achieve an efficient and cheap methods to remove H2S from the factories emissions. Four serial cylinders are designed, 40 cm in height and 15 cm in diameter each. They are filled with bivalve seashells with 63% porosity which contains Thiobacillus thioparus bacteria to the maximum height of 27.5 cm. By mixing phosphoric acid and sodium sulfide, H2S gas is released and its concentration is measured as mg m-3 before injecting into the cylinders. A permanent measuring instrument is equipped to control the gas coming out of the cylinders. In order to prevent the outdoor environment from pollution, first the gas is sent through two activated carbon columns and then sent through a ferrous chloride scrubber. Finally it is burnt directly by flames. There were 550 sample readings in 15 weeks. The changes in the discharge of the air which carries the gas are considered between 1-12 L min-1 and the concentration of the influent pollutant is considered between 1-140 mg m-3. Also the humidity in the atmosphere is fixed between 77-93% and the optimum temperature required for growing of the microorganisms is retained between 20.5-30 ° C. After feeding the system for three weeks the efficiency started to increase so that by the end of the final week of this research the efficiency reached to 90% with the discharge of 6 L min-1 of the carrier gas. The results achieved from this research show that because of not using Filamentous bacteria, clogging did not occur in the biological system in biofilters. The amount of head loss in cylinder was only 2 mm water and during this research, head loss was the same due to unclogging of filter. On the other hand the traditional methods are expensive in terms of using chemicals, carbon recycling and using fuel and etc. Therefore researchers have started new studies in this field. The above mentioned method, according to high efficiency, inexpensiveness and easiness of control and maintenance is considered one of the best methods.

Journal of Agricultural Science , 2012, DOI: 10.5539/jas.v4n1p219
Abstract: There is an increasing tendency for traditional medicine in the world. Many people prefer to take herbal products instead of chemical medicines. However, over consumption of herbal medicines has led to many unpredictable side effects. One of these traditional medicines is Citrullus colocynthis, which is used by diabetic patients as an hypoglycemic agent, but it has been reported to cause gastrointestinal disorders after consumption in some patients.50 rats were randomly divided into five groups (4 experimental and 1 controls). In the experimental groups a single daily dose of alcoholic extract of Citrullus colocynthis (50, 100, 200, 400 g/kg) was administered intraperitonally. Normal saline was administered in control group. After two weeks, the rats were killed and the livers were removed and fixed with formalin (10%). Specimens were then processed and stained with H&E and Reticuline. The results indicated that there is a morphological change in liver cells including karyrrhexis, chromatolysis, and granulation of the cytoplasm. Additionally, collagen and reticular fibers were evident in liver parenchyma in high doses. Citrullus colocynthis can have toxic effects on liver cells which may induce hepatocyte necrosis and liver fibrosis. These effects were dose dependent. Further studies are necessary to clarify the issue.

Abstract: The aim of this research was the study of effect of dietary probiotic in diet on growth rate and survival rate of Penaeus indicus shrimp. For this study, two groups selected as case and control group (each group containing fifteen shrimps) with three replicates for each group and they were studied prospectively. Both groups were equally fed by oral commercial probiotic (Protexin) containing 2x109 microorganisms per gram. During the course of shrimps feeding with probiotic, their growth factors including survival rate and the rate of weight gain were calculated separately in both study groups. To compare the quantitative data of the two groups, independent t-test and to compare qualitative data, Chi-square (χ2) test was used. According to the results of current study, the use of commercial probiotic in P. indicus shrimps was led to a significant increase in weight and growth rate of shrimps in case groups at the end of breeding period.
