Kasm YILDIRIM
Journal of Kirsehir Education Faculty , 2006,
Abstract: In this experimental research, the effects of cooperative learning method supported by multiple intelligence theory on elementary 4th grade students’ academic achievement was investigated. The study, which lasted five weeks, was carried out at public school in the discrit of Yüreir-Adana in 2004-2005 academic year. The participants of the study were 46 students that They were divided in a experimental group and control group. For the purpose of thisstudy, the experimental group was instructed using cooperative learning method supported by multiple intelligence theory, whereas the control group was instructed utilizing the traditional teacher oriented method. The measurement instrument used in the study was mathematics achievement test. Mathematics achievement test was used as pretest and posttest to the experimantal and control group.Findings indicated that cooperative learning method supported by multiple intelligence theory instructional teaching has a more significant effect on academic achievement than the traditional teacher oriented method.

Journal of Kirsehir Education Faculty , 2009,
Abstract: The purpose of this descriptive research is to discern whether teacher candidates’ self-monitoring vary singnificantlyaccording to gender and department. The measurent instrument is a self-monitoring scale, which was adapted to Turkish byHasan Bacanl , was used in this descriptive study by researchers. The study was conducted with 251 senior year students atthe Department of Elementary Science, Social, Turkish and Class Teachers Training Programs of K rsehir Education Faculty at Ahi Evran University. Frequency, Percent, Analysis of Varyans, Scheffe Test, T-Test were utilized in data analysis. In conclusion, results showed that significant differences between teacher candidates were not found according to department an gender. From this results, it can be said that self-monitoring do not indicate difference according to department and gender.

Journal of Kirsehir Education Faculty , 2007,
Abstract: This study aims to determine the attitudes of the students, who studied in the Department of Primary Teacher Education, toward internet use in the aspect of different variables. This study involved 229 students, who studied in the Department of Primary Teacher Education, Faculty of Education in Ahi Evran University during 2006-2007 academic year. In the study was used to “Attitudes Test toward the Internet Use” developed by Tavanc l and Keser (2005) with the aim of collection of data of the research for which scanning method was employed. SPSS 12.0 Method was utilized in the analysis of the research data, and the research data were analyzed by means of the use of the essential statistical techniques. The results of the research indicated that almost half of the students began to use computer during their university years, and about two-third of them used the internet for educational purposes. Inaddition to that, there was found a great discrepancy between the rates of the students’ having their own computers, the time they spent using the internet, and the places where they had an internet access.

Journal of Kirsehir Education Faculty , 2007,
Abstract: The objective of this study is to determine the attitudes of teacher candidates regarding teaching profession from the point of view of different variables. This study was taken place at Ahi Ervan University Teachers’ College in 2006-2007 year of education and 181 Applied science and Social science students participated it. In order to obtain the data of the research scanning method entitled “Determination of Attitude Towards Teaching Profession” was used which was developed by A kar and Erden (1987) . During the analysis of the research data SPSS 12.0 program and the necessary statistical methods were used to analize the data of the research. As a result of the research it is understood that the attitudes of teacher candidates change according to sex and factor that made them to choose the department they study.

Journal of Theory and Practice in Education , 2006,
Abstract: This experimental research investigated the effects of the cooperative learning method supported by multiple intelligence theory on elementary 4th grade students’ academic achievement and retention in their maths course. The subjects of study consisted of 46 4th grade students from an elementary school in the Yüre ir district of Adana. For this research, a control group was taught using the whole class teaching technique and an experimental group was taught using the cooperative learning method supported by multiple intelligence theory. The study was carried out over seven weeks. The measurement instrument used in the study was a mathematics achievement test. This instrument was used as pre-test, post-test and retention test with the experimental and control groups. Furthermore, prior to the study TIMI was administered to all participants. In conclusion, it was found that there were differences in achievement between the experimental and control groups. From this result, it can be said that the cooperative learning method supported by multiple intelligence theory is more effective than the whole class teaching on achievement in mathematics. At the same time, it was found that there are no significant differences in their retention.
INFLUENCE OF PORTFOLIO EVALUATION IN COOPERATIVE LEARNING ON STUDENT SUCCESS

Journal of Theory and Practice in Education , 2009,
Abstract: The effect of portfolio evaluation, which was implemented along with cooperative learning, was investigated in this research. Two experiment groups in addition to a control group were formed out of the 88 second year students of classroom teaching in the Faculty of Education. The course of “Planning and Evaluation in Teaching” was chosen as the course of practising teaching activities. This activity lasted 10 weeks. A 75-item multiple choice test was developed for the purpose of data collection. For the reliability of the scale, KR-20 (Kuder Richardson-20) reliability analysis was performed, and KR-20 reliability coefficient was found to be 0.78. The academic achievement test which was used to obtain research data was grouped in three dimensions (namely, programme and planning teaching strategies, methods and techniques, and measurement and evaluation) and the answers given to those were analysed separately, and conclusions were drawn. Independent groups t-test and one-directional variance analysis (ANOVA) techniques were employed in order to determine whether or not there were any significant differences between the experiment and the control groups’ academic achievement tests. The issue of which groups had significant differences in variance analyses was identified through Bonferroni test. Research results showed that the group on which portfolio evaluation along with cooperative learning was applied was more successful than the other groups. In addition, the relationship between gender and achievement scores was examined for the experiment and the control groups, and no significant statistical differences were found.

In addition to that, throughout the paper the losses caused by this migration and facts behind of this phenomenon are also evaluated. The number of articles which has Turkish origin and which are published in foreign journals indexed in Web of Science (WoS) are token as case. Moreover, in this study to compare the papers in both national and international journals the publications which are in the Turkish Academic Network and Information Centre (ULAKBIM) national databases are also examined. As a result of research it is revealed that there is an ongoing increase in the number of papers migrated to foreign journals and 62% of total scientific articles produced in Turkey were published in foreign journals.

Kasm Arma?an KORKMAZ
Dogus University Journal , 2007,
Abstract: In the present study, the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete (R/C) frame structures strengthened with eccentric steel bracing is examined. In this aim, a R/C frame structure is designed and then strengthened with different eccentric steel bracings. The existing and the strengthened structures are analyzed using nonlinear static pushover analysis. Their structural behavior under earthquake effect is compared with each other. In the analyses, 10- story R/C frame structure is designed and this structure is strengthened with different types of strengthening bracings. Thus, the earthquake behavior is defined for the strengthened and existing structures. It is also aimed to determine the best strengthening way with steel bracings.
