Abstract: the growth of the brazilian elderly people has led to a trend to an increase in the medication use. the inadequate use of drugs can be induced by some factors, like advertisement, with the risk of damaging the user's health. the objective of the study was to evaluate the advertisement influence in medication use in a group of elderly patients in a primary health care unit in aracaju, sergipe, brazil. 230 elderly aging over 60 years with both genders had been interviewed from april to june of 2007. the majority of the interviewees (73%) has at least a chronic health condition and 73.9% consumed regularly at least one medication. 17.8% of the sample informed to use medication motivated by publicity influence; 2.2% had considered that the medication never cause damages and 6.5% believed that always it makes well. in this study, correlations have been made and demonstrated that those who presented a higher level of consumption influenced by advertising also think that drugs used are always beneficial and vice versa (p= 0.04). the data showed that part of elderly suffered influence of advertisement to medication use, and are not conscious of risks involved.
Teenage pregnancy contextualized: understanding reproductive intentions in a Brazilian shantytown
Santos, Karine Alves;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2012000400005
Abstract: this paper presents the results of a socio-anthropological study with women from a low-income community in belo horizonte, minas gerais state, brazil. through the use of qualitative methods it looks at teenage pregnancy from the young mothers' perspective and the contribution of their socioeconomic environment. it shows the importance of different actors in their fertility decision and identifies contradictory cultural norms that recriminate teenage sexual activity while seeing motherhood as a ritual of passage to adulthood. following criticisms of insufficient family planning programs and negative health and economic outcomes for the lives of youngsters, the paper argues that motherhood stands as a successful activity through which they fulfill the collectively recognized ideal of womanhood, also carrying a sense of achievement in an environment where lack of opportunities prevail long before pregnancy occurs. improving formal knowledge and economic well-being are possible solutions to provide these girls with goals that go beyond parenthood while within reach of their economic reality.

Eccos Revista Científica , 2011,
Abstract: The main objective of this article is to contribute in the search of alternatives for some obstacles in the Education of Adults and Youth (EAY) related to great extent to its lack of identity. In spite of recent laws and norms which regulate this educational modality, the pedagogical practice, the training of teachers and the definition of a "place" confront EAY with the challenge to rethink itself. After summarizing some of the problems already pointed out by previous studies, we propose a dialogue of EAY with Popular Education and Social Pedagogy. Our argument is that it is important for EAY to keep its links with Popular Education in terms of defining the perspective for its pedagogical-political project. Social pedagogy, on its turn, contributes with knowledge and strategies for action relevant ant for the population which attends EAY.

Abstract: A atemóia, híbrido resultante do cruzamento da Cherimóia (Annona cherimola mill) com a Fruta-do-conde, a Pinha (Annona squamosa L.) e a Graviola (Annona muricata L.) pertencem a família das Anonáceas, originária dos Andes.
Abstract: New technological advances have been challenging professionals in education area to reach the new generation of students. Since this new generation is surrounded by this new technology, it is mandatory to associate new practices and teaching methods to their education plan. In this way, educators must reflect not only on their usual pedagogical practices but also in the efficacy of the method that has been practiced in the teaching and learning process. Technical Drawing is a discipline that takes place in High School programs in addition to Technical and Higher Education. It is directly influenced by this technological advance, once the student goes from the draw in the paper to the draw in computers during the classes and is encouraged to execute the projects that arise from the step-by-step draw. In this context, this work aimed to show a study performed during the Technical Drawing discipline to report a new structure in the educational methodology related to project-based learning. The focus of this study was to encourage students to develop a greater interest in engineering using project based learning and use this as a method for learning.

Two or Four Bristles: Functional Evolution of an Enhancer of scute in Drosophilidae
Sylvain Marcellini,Pat Simpson
PLOS Biology , 2012, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pbio.0040386
Abstract: Changes in cis-regulatory sequences are proposed to underlie much of morphological evolution. Yet, little is known about how such modifications translate into phenotypic differences. To address this problem, we focus on the dorsocentral bristles of Drosophilidae. In Drosophila melanogaster, development of these bristles depends on a cis-regulatory element, the dorsocentral enhancer, to activate scute in a cluster of cells from which two bristles on the posterior scutum arise. A few species however, such as D. quadrilineata, bear anterior dorsocentral bristles as well as posterior ones, a derived feature. This correlates with an anterior expansion of the scute expression domain. Here, we show that the D. quadrilineata enhancer has evolved, and is now active in more anterior regions. When used to rescue scute expression in transgenic D. melanogaster, the D. quadrilineata enhancer is able to induce anterior bristles. Importantly, these properties are not displayed by homologous enhancers from control species bearing only two posterior bristles. We also provide evidence that upstream regulation of the enhancer, by the GATA transcription factor Pannier, has been evolutionarily conserved. This work illustrates how, in the context of a conserved trans-regulatory landscape, evolutionary tinkering of pre-existing enhancers can modify gene expression patterns and contribute to morphological diversification.
