Phytopharmacological review of Xanthium strumarium L. (Cocklebur)

Abstract: Xanthium strumarium L. (Family: Compositae) a medicinal plant commonly found as a weed, is widely distributed in North America, Brazil, China, Malaysia and hotter parts of India. The herb is traditionally used mostly in treating several ailments. Extracts of the whole plant, especially leaves, roots, fruits and seeds have been applied in traditional medicine for the treatment of leucoderma, poisonous bites of insects, epilepsy, salivation, long-standing cases of malaria, rheumatism, tuberculosis, allergic rhinitis, sinitis, urticaria, rheumatoid arthritis, constipation, diarrhoea, leprosy, lumbago, pruritis, bacterial and fungal infections. This comprehensive account provides a botanical description of the plant, its phytochemical constituents and pharmacological activities are reviewed, focussing on antibacterial, antitumour, antitussive, antifungal, antiinflammatory, antinociceptive, hypoglycaemic, antimitotic, antioxidant, antitrypanosomal, CNS depressant activity, diuretic effects, contact dermatitis, insecticidal and herbicidal activities. Most of the pharmacological effects can be explained by the constituents like sesquiterpene lactones, glycoside, phenols, polysterols present in all plant parts. However, future efforts should concentrate more on in vitro and in vivo studies and also on clinical trials in order to confirm traditional wisdom in the light of a rational phytotherapy. Because of its multi-activity, in particular, anti-tumour, anti-cancer activity, so much attention is focussed on the herb. Finally, research needs quantitation of individual constituents and assessment of their pharmacological activities in humans.

Abstract: As the large volumes of Semantic Web data is at our disposal, it initiates the task of discovering large amount of knowledge, one of the potential is discovery of semantic relation which fundamentally changes the way we gather and use knowledge. Due to the distributed nature of Semantic Web development, semantic data tend to be created and stored viably in different organizations, the full demonstration of the Semantic Web data faces tremendous challenges such as usability, scalability, and heterogeneity. This paper proposes an adequate strategy to discover semantic relationships over large-scale distributed systems such as peer-to-peer and grid network, which permit users to share their local knowledge to collectively initiate new discoveries.
FPGA Based Design of Digital Wave Generator using CORDIC Algorithm

Abstract: In this paper an efficient approach is presented to design and implement a high speed and areaefficient Digital Sine and Cosine Wave Generator for wireless applications like SDR and GSM. The implementation is based on Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) algorithm which uses shifts, additions and a very small lookup table (LUT). It is an efficient method used to compute trigonometric functions, multiplications, divisions, data type conversions and hyperbolic functions in a simple and elegant way. The proposed design is synthesized with ISE 10.1isoftware, simulated with Modelsim 6.3XEsimulator and implemented on Spartan-3 FPGAtarget device using Chipscope 10.1. Results show enhanced performance using proposed CORDIC algorithm in terms of speed, area and power utilization.Key Words: FPGA, CORDIC, Simulation, VHDL, Pipeline
CPW-Fed Ring Antenna For UWB Applications

Abstract: ABSTRACT - This paper presents a Coplanar waveguide feed ( CPW) monopole ring antenna for ultra wideband applications. The proposed antenna consist of ring type patch embedded with horizontal strip in the patch. The parametric study is performed to understand the characteristics of the proposed antenna. The antenna exhibits impedance bandwidth from 3.7 GHz to 10.7 GHz. The various antenna parameters are studied. The proposed antenna is suitable for UWB applications.

Abstract: Immune dysregulation is the hallmark of all autoimmune diseases. It is extremely interesting to study the associations and pathogenesis of the various autoimmune diseases, like the link between the AIHA and CLL. This link is well established and is based on the fact that there is loss of tolerance to the self-antigen, which in turn leads to immunebased hemolytic anemia. Around 30% of the patients with CLL are at the risk of developing AIHA, and 11% eventually develop AIHA. Whether there is any definite linkup between the corrupted immune system and “acute” leukemias/lymphomas is yet to be established. Needless to say, if there was an association between the pathogenesis of the ALLs and AIHA, it would be a landmark in the field of oncology as it would enforce early diagnosis and treatment for the disease which is much more aggressive and found in a comparatively younger age group (predominantly in children and a mean age of 40 years in adults) as compared to its chronic counterparts. The AIHA would serve as a “tip to the underlying iceberg” in these situations, warning us of the cryptic diagnosis.
Scalable and Robust Location Aware Multicast Algorithm (SRLAMA) for MANET

Abstract: An ad hoc network is composed of mobile nodes without the intervention of any fixed infrastructure orcentral administration. Multicasting is intended for group-oriented communication. A lot many applications depend on one-to-many or many-to-many dissemination of the information. However, in ad hoc environment, multicasting protocols are faced with the challenge of producing multihop routes under dynamic topology and bandwidth constraints. Due to the dynamic topology of MANETs it is very difficultto build optimal multicast trees and maintaining group membership, making even more challenging to implement scalable and robust multicast in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET). A Scalable and Robust Location Aware Multicast Algorithm, called SRLAMA, for mobile ad hoc networks is presented in the paper that is based on creation of shared tree using the physical location of the nodes for the multicast sessions. It constructs a shared bi-directional multicast tree with an alternate root that avoids the network partitioning in case of primary root failurte, which results in better performance even than ashared tree. The algorithm uses the concept of small overlapped zones around each node for employing proactive routing with in the smaller zone. Protocol is based on the location information obtained employing relevant data structure, which effectively reduces the overheads for route searching and shared multicast tree maintenance. It employs a preventive route reconfiguration to avoid the latency in case of link breakages and to prevent the network from splitting.
A Comparative Study of various Secure Routing Protocols based on AODV

Abstract: The paper surveyed and compared various secure routing protocols for the mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). MANETs are vulnerable to various security threats because of its dynamic topology and selfconfigurable nature. Security attacks on ad hoc network routing protocols disrupt network performance and reliability. The paper significantly based on base routing protocol AODV and Secure protocol based on AODV. The comparison between various secure routing protocols has been made on the basis of security services and security attacks. From the survey it is quite clear that these protocols are vulnerable to various routing attacks. A multifence secure routing protocol is still required to fulfill the basic security services and provide solution against various attacks.
Performance Analysis of QoS in PMP Mode WiMax Networks

Abstract: IEEE 802.16 standard supports two different topologies: point to multipoint (PMP) and Mesh. In this paper, a QoS mechanism for point to multipoint of IEEE 802.16 and BS scheduler for PMP Mode is proposed. This paper also describes quality of service over WiMAX networks. Average WiMAX delay, Average WiMAX load and Average WiMAX throughput at base station is analyzed and compared by applying different scheduler at Base station and at fixed nodes.
