Alasbimn Journal , 2008,
Abstract: Aim: To evaluate the biodistribution of 99mTc-RBC in an animal model of ferropenic anemia.Materials and methods: We used rats which were fed with different iron contents diets: group A (severeanemia, 6.5 ppm), group B (moderate anemia, 18 ppm) and group C (control, 100 ppm). We performed the in vivo labeling of RBC and evaluated the labeling efficiency and the biodistribution at 30 minutes and 24 hours in blood, liver, spleen, gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, heart and lungs. The results were expressed as activity concentration percentage (CA%).Results: In all groups the labeling efficiency was higher than 98%. We observed an increase of CA% in spleen at 24 hours in the group A, followed by a decrease of CA% in blood. This could be a consequence of an increase of splenic uptake of RBC. An increase in CA% in kidney was obtained at 24 hours for all the groups. Conclusion: An alteration in the RBC biodistribution is observed in an animal model of ferropenic anemia.
Nivel de conocimiento de los pacientes con artritis reumatoide acerca de su enfermedad y tratamiento Knowledge about their disease and treatment among patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Ana María Werner C,Sonia Kaliski K,Karina Salazar Q,Luis Bustos M
Revista médica de Chile , 2006,
Abstract: Background:The transfer of information in the physician-patient relationship is important, especially in chronic diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), since it influences the perception and behavior that the patient has about his or her illness. Aim: To evaluate the level of knowledge and concern of their illness and treatment and their relationship with functional disability, perception of the pain and global assessment of disease activity, in patients with RA. Patients and Methods: Cross sectional study of 104 patients (mean age 56 years, 100 women) with RA. Demographic and clinical variables were registered. The knowledge about their illness and requirement of further information and concern about aspects of the illness and treatment, were assessed. Physical functioning was measured using the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ). A visual analogue (VAS) and Likert scales were used for a global assessment of disease activity. Results: Sixty percent of patients had only primary school studies. The median evolution of the illness was 14 years. Ninety eight percent knew their diagnosis and 91% required further information. There was a high degree of concern about the disease and treatment. The average HAQ score was 0.9. There was a statistically significant relationship between HAQ score and pain VAS (r =0.41, p <0.01). There was a moderate agreement between the global assessment of disease activity made by patients and physicians (Kappa =0.499; p =0.000). Conclusions: Even though patients with RA are informed about their disease, they require further information. Their highest concern is about the functional consequences of RA and they perceive a higher activity of the disease than their treating physicians
Superando dualismos: trayectorias socio-productivas en el abordaje de las transformaciones en la estructura social hortícola platense
Waisman,María Alejandra;
Mundo agrario , 2011,
Abstract: the present article presents the main guidelines of the theorical and methodological strategy used in the underway investigation about horticultural social structure's transformations in la plata's city in the last 20 years. this approach tries to overcome the dualism action-structure and individual-society, thinking them as being complementary aspects in the analysis of social reality. the contributions and limitations of two paradigms which are pronounced as antagonistic in explaining social behavior and the theories seeking to reconcile both approachs are analized. the trajectory concept is proposed as mediating concept used to bring together the historical process, the structural constrictions and the human agency. linked to the teorical approach a qualitative metodological strategy was implemented based on semi-structured interviews and participant observation. finally, this article argues that the major transformations that took place during the '90s in the social space investigated, affected the social status of horticultural producer
El modelo clásico de la fitogeografía de argentina: un análisis crítico
Ribichich,Alejandra María;
Interciencia , 2002,
Abstract: summary scientists and managers of argentinian natural resources apply the system of ángel cabrera to fit their work in a phytogeographical frame. in this analysis, this system is interpreted as a model about patterns and processes of plant distribution in argentina. built on theoretical assumptions and ocurrence data, this model presents deficiencies in its formulation. in the form of a hierarchical territorial classification, cabrera propounds a hypothesis of phytogeographical patterns in argentina. this classification is not precise and it is incompatible with some hypothesis of cabrera about processes of floristic assembly of the phytogeographical units. on the other hand, cabrera?s classification presents considerable differences with the argentinian fraction of takhtajan?s worldwide phytogeographical classification, although both arise from similar models and rest on empirical evidence. the differences include the location of the limit between the tropical and austral territories, and the classifications of the andean, patagonian and pampean areas. cabrera?s model ought not to be uncritically applied to the phytogeographical diagnosis of the argentinian floras. in this regard, the necessity of exploring entirely novel approaches is highlighted.
?Qué es el autismo?: La experiencia de padres inmersos en la incertidumbre
Ramos,María Alejandra;
Intersecciones en antropolog?-a , 2010,
Abstract: following an examination of the historical process for the recognition of autism as a disease, this article focuses on its detection and treatment in capital federal and gran buenos aires, argentina. the experiences of parents of people diagnosed with autistm were explored through one form of organization: internet forums. starting from the description and interpretation of the content of the messages, it was observed that parents see their daily practices transformed when faced with distressing situations, as well as when following strategies to find information to improve care. different key moments in the medical narrative have influenced parental mind-set toward their children and their interaction with them. at the same time, the initiative of affected families has contributed to the restructuring of the care system.
Vitale,María Alejandra;
Forma y Función , 2009,
Abstract: this article seeks to characterize the argumentative dimension of the discursivememory (courtine, 1981, 1994), specifically in the case of the editorials and comments issued by the argentinian written press in order to support the successive coups d′etat, during the period of 1930-1976. to analize this argumentative dimension, we called argumentative-rhetoric memory the return (the transformation or oblivion in the discursive series) of persuasive strategies which, in the case here analyzed, have the function of creating the political adhesion to such coups d′etat. two ways were followed within the french tendency of discourse analysis (charaudeau & maingueneau, 2005; maingueneau, 1996) and from the rhetoric perspective of study of argumentation (perelman y olbrechts-tyteca, 1989; amossy, 2000): the analysis of the topics and the argumentative techniques.
Coleccionistas de objetos históricos, arqueológicos y de ciencias naturales en museos municipales de la provincia de Buenos Aires en la década de 1950
Pupio, María Alejandra;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702005000400011
Abstract: through reference to the creation and expansion of municipal museums in the province of buenos aires during the 1950s, the article explores some aspects of how archeological collections are compiled. the collections under study came from private hands, having been gathered by collectors who relinquished them so these museums could be formed. at the same time that these collections became public, the collectors themselves became responsible for them in the role of directors of the new institutes. within this context, the collectors established institutional relations that allowed them to devise common strategies concerning the receipt, selection, and exhibition of archeological collections. the result was the shaping of a network of solidarity in the southern part of buenos aires province.
Desarrollo, medioambiente y sociedad en el discurso empresarial del Grupo Techint
Esponda,María Alejandra;
Trabajo y sociedad , 2011,
Abstract: in this article i will analyze how preoccupations linked to the notions of development, environment and social impact of large-scale projects have been incorporated in a type of materialization of the managerial discourse in one of the most important domestic economic groups in this matter -which also features transnational relevance-: the techint group. on the other hand, the analysis of a current conflic, regarding a real-estate mega project located in the lands of the ceamse (municipalities quilmes and avellaneda, buenos aires, argentina) allows us to analyze a paradigmatic case of employers' liability regarding environmental and social degradation; the ways in which it was denied at the present, alleging to be in the pursuit of "development"; simultaneously it allows to view the conflicts and disputes that have rose between businessmen, politicians and diverse sectors of the civil society.
