IGF2/H19 hypomethylation is tissue, cell, and CpG site dependent and not correlated with body asymmetry in adolescents with Silver-Russell syndrome

Abstract: The ICR1 methylation status was analyzed in blood and in addition in buccal smear probes and cultured fibroblasts obtained from punch biopsies taken from the two body halves of 5 SRS patients and 3 controls. We found that the ICR1 hypomethylation in SRS patients was stronger in blood leukocytes and oral mucosa cells than in fibroblasts. ICR1 CpG sites were affected differently. The severity of hypomethylation was not correlated to body asymmetry. IGF2 expression and IGF-II secretion of fibroblasts were not correlated to the degree of ICR1 hypomethylation. SRS fibroblasts responded well to stimulation by recombinant human IGF-I or IGF-II, with proliferation rates comparable with controls. Clonal expansion of primary fibroblasts confirmed the complexity of the cellular mosaicism.We conclude that the ICR1 hypomethylation SRS is tissue, cell, and CpG site specific. The correlation of the ICR1 hypomethylation to IGF2 and H19 expression is not strict, may depend on the investigated tissue, and may become evident only in case of more severe methylation defects. The body asymmetry in juvenile SRS patients is not related to a corresponding ICR1 hypomethylation gradient, rendering more likely an intrauterine origin of asymmetry. Overall, it may be instrumental to consider not only the ICR1 methylation status as decisive for IGF2/H19 expression regulation.Silver-Russell syndrome (SRS; OMIM 180860) is a sporadically occurring, genetically and clinically heterogeneous disorder. Abstract: Throughout the IT communities, it has been acknowledged that ontology plays a key role in representation and reuse of knowledge. This paper discusses some issues of ontology construction for engineering data management, such as knowledge discovery, knowledge representation and semantic services. All discussions are followed by a running ex-ample of engineering data management. Based on the user needs with five phases of engineering design, the issue of knowledge discovery will be presented. The built knowledge base contains basic knowledge models and vocabularies for knowledge integration. With the semantics of semistructured data, the hierarchical relations of concepts in engi-neering data have been extracted for reuse in future engineering design based on some clustering techniques of data mining. Semantic services for engineering design will be provided with the ontology-based schema.
An Integrating Algorithm and Theoretical Analysis for Fully Rheonomous Affine Constraints: Completely Integrable Case  [PDF]

This paper develops an integrating algorithm for fully rheonomous affine constraints and gives theoretical analysis of the algorithm for the completely integrable case. First, some preliminaries on the fully rheonomous affine constraints are shown. Next, an integrating algorithm that calculates independent first integrals is derived. In addition, the existence of an inverse function utilized in the algorithm is investigated. Then, an example is shown in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. By using the proposed integrating algorithm, we can easily calculate independent first integrals for given constraints, and hence it can be utilized for various research fields.

On Integrability of Fully Rheonomous Affine Constraints  [PDF]

This paper presents a complete integrability condition for fully rheonomous affine constraints in terms of the rheonomous bracket. We first define fully rheonomous affine constraints and develop geometric representation for them. Next, the rheonomous bracket is explained and some properties of it are derived. We then investigate a necessary and sufficient condition on complete integrability for the fully rheonomous affine constraints based on the rheonomous bracket as an extension of Frobenius’ theorem. The effectiveness and the availability of the new results are also evaluated via an example.

In this paper, integrability conditions and an integrating algorithm of fully rheonomous affine constraints (FRACs) for the partially integrable case are studied. First, some preliminaries on the FRACs are illustrated. Next, necessary and sufficient conditions on the partially integrable case for the FRACs are derived. Then, an integrating algorithm to calculate independent first integrals of the FRACs for the partially integrable case is derived. Moreover, the existence of an inverse function utilized in the algorithm is proven. After that, an example is presented for evaluation of the effectiveness of the proposed method. As a result, it turns out that the proposed integrating algorithm can easily calculate independent first integrals for given partially integrable FRACs, and thus this new algorithm is expected to be applied to various research fields.

Abstract: With the acceleration of aging population trend and the further development of market economy system, it is the establishment and improvement of urban communities Socialized Elder Care Service System participated by pluralistic entities that has become the basic strategies in current China to deal with the problem of aging population. From the policy empirical research of social forces participated in Community Socialized Elder Care Service (CSECS) System in Shanghai recent years, this paper reveals the role positioning, basic functions and the interaction of the government, society organizations, citizens and other bodies which participated in the process of CSECS System establishment currently. And then, by analyzing external barriers and internal constraints faced by this social elder service system, this paper puts forward some suggestions to improve it. This study will be important theoretical value and practical significance for the construction and improvement of SCECS with Chinese characteristics policy pattern based on the positive interaction of “government-society-family”.

Abstract: This paper considers an obstacle avoidance control problem for the compass-type biped robot, especially circular obstacles are dealt with. First, a sufficient condition such that the swing leg does not collide the circular obstacle is derived. Next, an optimal control problem for the discrete compass-type robot is formulated and a solving method of the problem by the sequential quadratic programming is presented in order to calculate a discrete control input. Then, a transformation method that converts a discrete control input into a continuous zero-order hold input via discrete Lagrange-d’ Alembert principle is explained. From the results of numerical simulations, it turns out that obstacle avoidance control for the continuous compass-type robot can be achieved by the proposed method.
Test Study on Navigation in the First Construction Period of Lize Navigation-Power Junction  [PDF]

Abstract: Based on the test results of Lize navigation-power junction construction diversion through the normal fix-bed model with the scale of 1:100, the navigation flow condition in each construction diversion period is studied. There are a lot of problems in the first construction diversion period, such as excessive flow velocity, poor flow pattern, low navigation discharge and so on. To solve these problems, the comprehensive engineering measures for improving the navigation flow condition during construction are put forward. Among them, the structure forms of construction diversion cofferdam are optimized. Finally, the highest safe navigation discharge and reasonable navigation route are proposed. The experimental results obtained from the optimization scheme of the first construction diversion period are better than these from the original scheme in terms of flow velocity, flow pattern and so on. The research results may serve as reference for similar engineering.

Abstract: This paper provides a new obstacle avoidance control method for cars based on big data and just-in-time modeling. Just-in-time modeling is a new kind of data-driven control technique in the age of big data and is used in various real systems. The main property of the proposed method is that a gain and a control time which are parameters in the control input to avoid an encountered obstacle are computed from a database which includes a lot of driving data in various situations. Especially, the important advantage of the method is small computation time, and hence it realizes real-time obstacle avoidance control for cars. From some numerical simulations, it is showed that the new control method can make the car avoid various obstacles efficiently in comparison with the previous method.
