Nature of the low temperature ordering of Pr in PrBa_2Cu_3O_(6+x)
A. Kiss,F. Simon
Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.82.174413
Abstract: Theoretical model is presented to describe the anomalous ordered phase of Pr ions in PrBa_2Cu_3O_(6+x) below T_Pr = 12-17 K. The model considers the Pr multipole degrees of freedom and coupling between the Cu and Pr subsystems. We identify the symmetry allowed coupling of Cu and Pr ions and conclude that only an ab-plane Pr dipole ordering can explain the Cu spin rotation observed at T_Pr by neutron diffraction by Boothroyd et al. [A. T. Boothroyd et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 78, 130 (1997)]. A substantial enhancement of the Pr ordering temperature is shown to arise from the Cu-Pr coupling which is the key for the anomalous magnetic behavior in PrBa_2Cu_3O_(6+x).

Abstract: On the technical faculthy of the university of Debrecen, the students of the manager sector, collected a great material – in connection with the subject space informatik – about one of the strangest figure of the cartography history. Based on the disposal documents, the students had more questions about the maps construction and the Piri Reis works. This study contains the teachers answers. Introduce in details the life and work of Piri Reis, the world map from 1513 – which called mysterius” - as well as the esoteric ideas and scientific explanations referring to the map.
The oxidation mechanism of CdTe (110) surface
Kiss, F. D.;Ferraz, A. C.;
Brazilian Journal of Physics , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-97332006000300015
Abstract: using a first-principles pseudopotential technique within a generalized gradient approximation of the density functional theory, we have investigated the mechanism of adsorption of molecular oxygen on the cdte(110) surface. the determination of the more favorables structures and their formation through the activation barrier analysis indicates that the formation can occur in the regimes of low and high temperatures. according to our calculations it was verified that in the regime of low temperatures the oxygen molecule binds exclusively to cd at the topmost site through cd-o-o or cd-o2 bonds. the electronic band structure presents a characteristic state like a double acceptor defect. in the high temperature regime the molecule adsorbs between cd of the surface and te of the subsurface, breaking cd-te bond and causing an upward dislocation of cd from the subsurface. in this regime of high temperatures the complex presents cd-o, cd-o2, te-o and o-o bonds and the electronic band structure is almost free of gap of states.
The Use of Mosquito-Net Cloths as Prosthesis in Inguinal Hernia Repair: An Experience in Southern Sudan  [PDF]

Surgical Science (SS) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ss.2012.33030
Abstract: Inguinal hernia is one of the commonest medical problems in Africa and the treatment via open repair is considered as one of the most affordable and secure procedures. In the industrialized countries, the gold standard treatment is represented by placing a prosthesis which is usually a mesh, made of alloplastic material, such as polypropylene. In developing countries, a piece of nylon mosquito-net without insecticide is a cheaper and safe alternative as prosthesis. This study shows the security of implant of nylon mosquito-net in 70 patients, operated on with Lichtenstein’s tension-free technique, and performed in rural hospitals of Southern Sudan. The easy use of analyzed low-cost material and the demonstrated safety of these sterilized prostheses are two important factors that make them excellent solutions in poor and rural areas such as Southern Sudan. Objective: the aim of this article is to demonstrate that prostheses, made of well analyzed low-cost material, can be cost-effective and a valid solution for surgical inguinal hernia repair in both poor and rural developing areas.

Abstract: Four rare nematode species from Sas Hill in Budapest are described and illustrated. They are Amphidelus lagrecai Vinciguerra & De Francisci, 1973, Amphidelus coluber Andrássy, 1973, Aporcelaimellus alius Andrássy, 2002 and Apor ce laimellus amylovorus (Thorne & Swanger, 1936) Heyns, 1965. Of them, A. lagrecai is new to the fauna of Hungary.

The effects of Najas marina on the zooplankton species composition and water chemistry in a small, shallow lake (Fehér-tó, Fert -Hanság National Park, Hungary)
Kiss, A.
Opuscula Zoologica Instituti Zoosystematici et Oecologici Universitatis Budapestinensis , 2006,
Abstract: Horizontal distribution and diurnal migration of zooplankton as well as a few water chemistry parameters were investigated in the clear-water and the turbid state of the extremely shallow Lake Fehér (Hungary) between 1998-2001. Significant horizontal and diel differences were recorded in the density and composition of zooplankton assemblages as well as a few water chemical parameters between the turbid and clear-water state of lake. In the turbid state copepods dominanted zooplankton assemblages developed with low density and species richness and the cladoceran zooplankton consisted of mainly pelagic species with low abundance values. During the presence of Najas marina the zooplankton community was dominated by cladocerans and the ratio of the macrophyta-associated species was high. In case of few cladoceran species significant diel density differences developed between the macrophyte bed and the above macrophyte-free water column however macrophyta-associated species did not show diel vertical migration. Based on the result of diurnal monitoring the importance of DHM (diel horizontal migration) was irrelevant in the uniform and dense Najas beds and zooplankton appear to migrate vertically rather than horizontally.
