Abstract: with the aim of studying the effect of branch conditioning through girdling and banding on valência orange cuttings a rooting trial was carried out from february to december of 1993. the girdling was performed with a thin cooper wire tightly tied at the branch base reaching the log, and the banding with black poliethylene tape, covering the branch at the base of the sprouts. each conditioned branch gave one cutting of 15 cm length, 0.5 cm diameter and a pair of half cut apical leaves. cuttings were planted on dec.04, 93, in washed and sieved sand substrate. the experimental design was completely randomized, with a factorial 3 x 3 from 0, 30 and 60 day periods, girdling and banding. there was no rooting in cuttings that remained three months in the substrate and there was up to 26.04% rooting for those ones that lasted for eight months in the substrate. the banding period significantly affected the cuttings rooting percentage.

Abstract: Objetivando estudar a influência do condicionamento de ramos, através do anelamento e estiolamento parcial, sobre o enraizamento de estacas de laranjeira cv. Valência, conduziu-se o experimento no período de fevereiro a dezembro de 1993. Para o anelamento foi utilizado arame fino de cobre com o qual provocou-se um estrangulamento na base do ramo. No estiolamento, utilizou-se fita preta de polietileno, que foi enrolada na base das brota es. De cada ramo condicionado, obteve-se apenas uma estaca com 15 cm de comprimento, diametro médio de 0,5 cm e um par de folhas apicais, cortadas pela metade. O plantio das estacas foi realizado em 12.04.93, em substrato de areia lavada e peneirada. Adotou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 3x3, resultante das combina es entre os períodos de zero, 30 e 60 dias dos fatores anelamento e estiolamento. Verificou-se que n o ocorreu enraizamento nas estacas que permaneceram três meses no substrato e variou de 0 até 26,04% para aquelas que permaneceram oito meses. O período de estiolamento influenciou significativamente o percentual de estacas enraizadas.

Abstract: the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of boron and zinc on the rooting of branch cuttings of two plum (prunus salicina lindl.) cultivare carmesim and grancuore. in a previous phase four lines with twenty plants were selected for the application of boron, zinc, boron + zinc and control. the study on the rooting of branch cuttings was conducted at the brotas county, s?o paulo state, in a nursery with intermitent artificial mist conditions. materials were collected in may/89, one part used to analyse reducing sugars, total sugars and total aminoacids and another part used for rooting test of branch cuttings. the results showed that carmesin had a higher ability for rooting and there was interaction of cultivars with products (b, zn and b + zn) and the zinc, boron and boron-zinc increased total aminoacids in the two cultivars.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of four concentrations of indolbutyric acid on the rooting of plum branch cuttings (prunus salicina, lindl.) collected from plants treated with borax and zinc sulfate, in four periods. the experiments were conducted in a nursery with intermitent artificial mist conditions. the results showed a positive effect of cultivars, periods and iba concentrations, and there was no effect of either borax or zinc sulfate on rooting of branch cuttings.

Abstract: to evaluate the effect of five iba concentrations, on valencia orange cuttings, collected at three dates, washed sand and rice husk ash were used as growing media. the results showed that treatments did not influence rooting; the sand was the best growing medium for callous formation, and the best iba concentration for cylindric cuttings collected in may was 4500 ppm.

Abstract: the purpose or this research work was to evaluate the effects of cutting collection date and of different concentrations of indolebutiric acid (iba) on the rooting of apical and mid cuttings of guava (psidium guajava l.). two clones were used, one of white flesh and another of red flesh fruits. the cuttings were collected from the trees at four times: february, april, june and october of 1993. apical cuttings with two leaves and mid part branch cuttings with four halfleaves, both 15 cm long, were treated with 0, 4000, 5000, 6000 or 7000 ppm of iba as a powder mixture, introducing 1 cm of their basal end in the mixture containing iba. after treatement the cuttings were planted in plastic bags containg ash of rice husk as substrate and kept in greenhouse under mist conditions. the experimental design was of randomized complete block with three replications and 12 cuttings per plot after a 60 day period the cuttings were evaluated for the percentage of rooted cuttings, with calus, with new leaves and root dry weight per cutting. the date of cutting had significant effects on all data. the highest percentage of rooted cuttings (51,52%) was observed on cuttings collected in february. sprouting did not affect rooting. iba treatments only increased dry weight of roots per cutting and percentage of rooting. there was a difference between the two clones with respect to the percentage of rooted cuttings and of sprouting, that were higher for the white flesh clone than for the red flesh clone, for the cuttings collected in october.
